I purchased this battery from Amazon. I checked their description to see if it could be paired with another brand battery - they had nothing in the description. When the battery arrived right on top in the owner manual it says that it IS NOT RECOMMENDED to be paired with another brand. Now I am getting hassled with the return - am told that it is my personal preference to return and I would have to pay for the return shipping. They also said that they would deduct their original shipping cost from my refund - Amazon did not charge me shipping so why deduct shipping cost! I would not recommend buying these Litime/Amperetime batteries.

Hello from Denmark 🇩🇰 Sry my English.. I have garmin striker 4 And I think to buy this vivid 5cv for my tiny little boat.. Should I go for the vivid or keep the striker 4 ? Striker 4 is a great fishfinder.. but ARE VIVID SO MUCH BETTER???? Plz convince me that vivid cv5 are SOOOO much better plz ? Is it possible to get (fish symbols) on vivid and not just light spot ?? And map plotter ?? It it really a great feat?? Will vivid record the seabed and store it on vivid so it works as sea mapping ? So I can see how deep there is next time I sail over the same place?? I hope you can understand my question?😄 And is it possible to install it inside my boat or do I need to have the transducer in the water all the time?
@YBGAnglersАй бұрын
Thanks for reaching out from Denmark! I actually have a video comparing the two coming out soon! I like the Vivid 5cv much better because of the upgraded mapping, but it only shows the contours of the places you've already been. So, yes it will store the depths of the places you've already been if you had Quickdraw Contours already going. I haven't tried using the fish symbols instead of the arches, but as far as I know every Garmin fish finder has that option. Lastly, I've seen and heard of people installing the transducer inside their hull, but I've never attempted to do it, so I'm not the best person to ask about that!

I bought a aluminum jon boat last week with a 9.9 motor. I already have 3, but I've only ever paddled around in them. Im getting old now and it isn't any fun anymore lol. The new law here is you have to register your boat to use even a trolling motor, none of my boats have titles so I cant register them. I ended up buying one of these fish finders today, its the first time putting/using one on a boat. I just got it as a starter and because im learning how to wire boats...so if I burn it up its better then an expensive one. Later I want one with side imagining for the front, I'll just keep this in the back (I also have a front mount trolling motor I want to mount later). I like that you can just mount this to the trolling motor, saves me from having to put holes in the boat for the time being. Also means I can just take it out and mount on my smaller boat for private ponds if I want. Edit: long as you have a signal you can look at Google maps to see where you are in the lake (rough estimate anyway). I'm looking into if I can pull up contor maps on my phone, that would be pretty useful as well.
@YBGAnglersАй бұрын
Yup, the trolling motor isn’t the ideal place for it but it works!
@thetightwadhomesteader3089Ай бұрын
@@YBGAnglers I kind of figured that might be the case since it's moving, but I think I'll upgrade soon as I get my boat wiring and other stuff done. I want the one with side imagining seems like that would be useful for finding structure.

Simrad has had a better unit than this for a few years now. I'd expect a MUCH BETTER screen resolution for new units hitting the market. Anything new coming out should be 4K as a base level at least. Especially considering the cost. At this rate Garmin won't release a 4K display for another 15 to 20 years or so. That's unacceptable.

If i were to buy my first one again id go for a second hand one.. and try to get a 9'' screen atleast.. i hated my first helix 7... then got a second hand 9'' echomap (older one before live) fo 350 bucks with the gt52 ducer.. that thing was decent for viewing maps/doing sonar.. Now i got a newer echomap with livescope.. but thats a bit much for a beginner.. 5 inch is too small to split screens.. so is 7.. if ur using quickdraw to make maps.. its too small.

Which transducer did it come with? Sometimes the poor picture can be an electrical issue (not enough current, so you might need a bigger wire) but if sidescan doesn't work you're probably right and it might be the transducer. I really can't know without being there.

I have the best solution, stop being lazy and do human power. My pedal drive does everything a trolling motor does, almost as fast, never have to worry about batteries and charging, and "spot lock" is easy peasy. Seriously, unless you are fishing huge reservoirs and need to cover miles of distance there is no need for a wasting money on a trolling motor

I appreciate the information. I'm piecing together my first boat (14ft jon boat) and I plan on dragging it to the white river in Arkansas. A simple depth finder with some bells and whistles to learn is perfect. Main concern on the river is depth. I grew up without all the fancy screens to fish so I'm a bit bias against them. Maybe this is a happy medium.
