Should Lowrance Be Proud of Its Newest Fish Finder? Lowrance Eagle 7 Review

I used the Hook TS for 3 yrs which was plagued with problems and was finally replaced with the Eagle and can definitely say that the 2D sonar is heads and tails better on the Eagle over the Hook. Both DI and Side Scan is 10x clearer with much better resolution and this was straight out of the box with no changes to settings.

Please can you do Raymarine Element 7 HV with the Lowrance Engle 7 tripleshot, at some point over the next 9-10 months? I'd really appreciate this as I should be getting a new Stealth kayak & want something to go with it. I note the graphics on a Raymarine Dragonfly (on one of my kayaks) are better than anything else I've tried up to now.

You need to turn on high-res bathymetry after inserting the discover card. Night and day difference.

i just bought a 7 fs elite is there a upgrade i can do on the transducer. i got the one it come with and it doesnt give me pictures like i see on other fishfinders and i cant get the side scan to work

Which transducer did it come with? Sometimes the poor picture can be an electrical issue (not enough current, so you might need a bigger wire) but if sidescan doesn't work you're probably right and it might be the transducer. I really can't know without being there.

Hey buddy, i am interested in your opinion on how much better of a unit the Eagle is vs. the Hook2. You can purchase a Hook2 9" for $499 or the new Eagle 9" for $699. Do you think its worth the extra $200 for the eagle? They both have the down and side scan features.

Hey man! The Eagle will have a clearer screen and better sonar capabilities. I’ve never used the Hook2, only the Hook Reveal, which I really liked. I would go with the Eagle simply because you’re getting a newer model with slightly advanced features, plus idk how much longer Lowrance will warranty the older units now that the Eagle is out.

How easy it s to take the screen with? I don't want to keep the device on my boat while I am not driving with it.

Super easy! Just unplug the power cord and transducer cable, then loosen the two knobs and slip it out of the bracket.

Do the C-Maps need to be updated before using them? Some of them you need to select the map area to download onto the card

C-maps Inland vs C-maps Tidal Rivers: My Eagle 9 was preloaded with C-map Inland version which has no information on nearby rivers (ugh). I returned it and purchased locally the upgraded model w/C-maps Rivers (+$50) rather than buying the C-map River chip separately at $150. So, get the upgraded model unless you want inland lakes only. Confusing, vague, unreasonable. Lucky for me, a local dealer explained everything and set me up with the right model. So, get the upgraded model unless you want inland lakes only. And support your local businesses--they actually answer questions!!

I also will never by Lowrance again. Horrible customer service all support from India. Do not buy a ghost trolling motor has been in shop 3 time for warranty work.

why? I was using hook reveal 9 for 2,5 year, transducer started to break (showing 0,8m depth from time to time but at the same time correct on sidescan) and I've got eagle 9 for free since hook reveal is currently out of stock here.
