These monsters live in Mackay too, trust me. Quite frightening when you don’t expect them.

Do snakes bite above ankle
@sssafeawareness

A snake will bite wherever it can reach. A snake will strike at anything that comes within its strike range that it deems a threat. It prefers to find skin which will give off heat and they are extremely accurate. Most bites mostly occur on the hands or feet but not exclusively. Many many bites occur when people are trying to handle or even kill the snake. We don't advise either.

Do garden gumboots up to knee made of that standard rubber protect against snake bites

We deal specifically with Australian venomous snakes which have relatively short fangs. So, it would depend on the thickness of the boots. We advise that, in general terms, the thicker your clothing/footwear the less likely it is that the fangs can get through. There is NO guarantee.

If you find a snake in a room full of furniture or things,how do you find the snake.Is it safe to get all furniture out of the room carefully

We recommend calling a qualified snake removal expert and always assume the snake is venomous. If you're putting your hands on furniture to move it you ruin the risk of coming into contact with the snake. Make yourself familiar with local snake removal experts before you need them.

The small black box or 'hide box' looks tiny but it is ideal for a snake to crawl into. It's where they feel safe. Think about your home and where you might have similar, tiny spaces. Plug them up or remove them. Unless, of course, you want snakes around your home. 🐍😉

Harries and Jamie from SURVIVAL TV are Craig’s guineapigs, demonstrating how difficult a longer bandage can be to apply. In a pressure situation you don’t need to be wrestling with an unwieldy bandage. Our two metre SMART Snake Bite Bandage has several advantages over a four metre snake bite bandage. Firstly, a two metre bandage is more compact and lightweight, making it easier to carry with you on outdoor adventures. It takes up less space in your backpack, and fits in your back pocket, making it a great option for hikers and campers who need to pack light. Secondly, a two metre snake bite bandage is easier to apply than a longer bandage. With less material to work with, you can quickly and easily wrap the affected area, which is crucial in the event of a snake bite. This can save precious time and potentially save a life. Thirdly, a two metre snake bite bandage is less likely to come loose or slip during application. With less material to work with, it's easier to ensure a snug and secure fit, which is essential to prevent venom from spreading. Our 2m SMART Snake Bite Pressure Bandages are an affordable option for anyone who wants to be prepared for a potential snake bite while spending time in the great outdoors, or around the home where half of all snake bites occur. Ultimately, our two metre SMART Snake Bite Pressure Bandage is a practical and effective solution for anyone who wants to be prepared for a snake bite. Its compact size, ease of use, and affordability make it an excellent choice for hikers, campers, and anyone who spends time in areas where snakes may be present. #SnakeBiteFirstAid #SnakeBiteTreatment #SnakeBiteEmergency #SnakeBiteAwareness #SnakeBitePrevention #VenomousSnakeBites #SnakeSafetyTips #WildernessFirstAid #OutdoorSafety #EmergencyResponse

Yesterday, 28 Jan 2023, an Eastern Brown killed a 60 year old man at Kensington Gardens (?) about 15 mins west of Ipswich..... there are closer Ambulance stations. 4 Ambulances and an Emergency Rescue Helicopter plus the Police attended....... he died at the scene. All these "keep still" videos know exactly where the snake is at all times. I have never seen one of these videos where somebody steps right beside a decent sized Eastern Brown or dumps one out a bag at their feet as they are walking along and shows what happens next........... This keep still trick also doesn't explain what happens next if the snake decides a person is a tree and starts to climb..... or an untrained person flinches within striking range.

Yeah. Terrible news. Brown Snake bites are often painless & the first sign of anything being wrong is a loss of consciousness. Without appropriate first aid, your chances of survival are drastically diminished. It's best to mitigate the risks by wearing heavy boots and long clothing. Not always possible but that will give you the best chance of avoiding envenomation. There are no guarantees when it comes to wildlife but experience tells us that stillness is the best way to diffuse a dangerous situation. Again, not always possible even for experienced snake handlers, but it's still best to try.

The hand being bitten is latex and that part was created by Jamie Seymor, a jellyfish/venom expert. Sadly, he was with Steve Irwin when Steve died.
