perfect timing that this video came out, been a huge fan of your work over on instagram and can relate alot of this mylene! ive been so fixated in creating the 'perfect' video so as a result, the volume of work is a lot less and i realised that i just need to simply create more :) one of my goals i wanted to do was to touch upon short form and create more spontaneously that way. thank you for this video!!!

Re the tutorials- so true. I wanted to learn video editing for years and couldn't "hack it". Then, 4 years ago, I had a video i needed to edit. and I did. I am not a great video editor, it's 4 years after that- and I am still using iMovie and doing the bare minimum to edit... I did get a lot better at how to film to fit my editing skills LOL At the same time, I do a lot of tutorials on my channel, and I know that people get results from them, but those would pretty much be tutorials on understanding a platform, or doing something within a platform. Anyway, awesome vid, keep making awesome content :)

This video was super helpful for a small creator like myself! Because personally I struggle so much with perfectionism with everything creative I do and that can be super dangerous because can easily stop me from doing something but I am now on a journey to accept that nothing will be perfect and it's totally ok because it doesn't have to be... The most important thing is to just create without so many rules 💫

I love your point to start from what you want to create be a detective to figure out how to do the steps. Also, loving the process and exploring any friction that makes the process like pulling teeth to find out why. Thank you!

thank you so much!! these tips resonated! 💗 i have been overthinking content creation because there's so much I can do. Figuring out how i want my first post to be, but honestly I just gotta do what comes to mind!! It'll come together. 💗💗💗

Thank you for saying that (the museum of your content)! I’ve always felt that way, and I’ve tried to do that with my online presence. Before I got locked out of my IG, I had every post from the time I started my profile (2012) until last year, and I loved going back through all my trends and memories, and I wish a lot more people did that.

Whew, such a great video even though I've heard these things before it was refreshing to Hera it from you so thanks for sharing! As a beginner at creating videos, art, etc I've definitely been stuck watching SO many tutorials so I can make the best videos lol. This inspired me to go ahead and post the videos and art I've been holding onto due to perfectionism. Thanks Mylene 🦋

Hey Mylene! Your vlog about content creation was super inspiring! As a video editor, I totally resonate with your "volume over perfection" approach. Would love to collaborate and help bring your creative vision to life. Keep experimenting and creating! 🎥✨

I appreciate #2 / the photography class examples. I was taking so long to put out videos in 2024 so I started this year with a 30 day challenge, making 1 every day. I'm finding the experience to be very aligned to what you're saying, as it's cutting through perfectionism.

Love the toolbox analogy. Haven’t heard this perspective in my circle in a while. Build a skillset one tool at time, soon you have a whole toolbox, and know how to use it well.

I couldn’t agree more. At times, you envision something for your vlog and oftentimes, you end up not meeting the expectations you’ve set for it. I’ve learned that along the way, you just have to keep taking videos and wing it- eventually, it’ll fall into place once you start editing it. ❤

I've worked with so many KZbinrs some 10m + subscribers, the most successful ones that have longevity always seem to create the content around themselves doing something, rather than just the spectacle of doing something (if that makes sense). 100% agree with so much of this and have seen a lot of what you say remain true for other creators in my experience. And for me I've also found reverse engineering cool edits/ graphics/ etc. is the best way to learn how to do something, you end up learning concepts rather than just information. Love listening to these haha
@mylenesmind5 күн бұрын
totally makes sense! this is why I’ve always loved to see the journeys of designers or artists because they’re creating videos around something else that they’re doing vs creating just content itself. glad this video resonated with you and thanks so much for listening/watching 🙏
