now imagine the bolts on the pulley are so tight that you can't get it off with the tightest vice grip you can manage while using channel locks on the shaft to prevent spinning. that's where i'm at

How do you get the cable out of the transfer case tail shaft? Thanks
@Inisfad
@Inisfad 3 ай бұрын
You disconnect the speedometer cable at the transmission in order to get the cluster to come out more. Before disconnecting the speedo cable at the speedometer, disconnect the cable at the transfer case, put it into a variable speed reversible drill, and slowly spin the cable. See if the needle is moving on the speedometer

Hi, thanks for sharing this very nice and informative video alongside other equally interesting ones . Now, here is a puzzle I'm trying to solve: I'm trying to build one of these components from scratch but before doing it I'm trying to understand the transformer requirements since I don't have one yet and the manual simply don't go into any details of it other than the part number which of course a data sheet for it is non existent !. But, I can wind one up no problem since I have the means to do it. Now, looking at the schematic diagram, "in my eyes" some things simply do not add up. As far as I know and learned over the years on a voltage doubler full wave rectifier configuration you can achieve double the voltage but always at the expense of losing half of the input current right ? Now, (according to the manual) the unit claims to be able to deliver a maximum of 400V DC @100mA (continuous current) or 120mA (intermittently). But reading the schematic it seems that the BLU-BLU transformer winding (that is responsible for delivering the B+) delivers 210V AC @ 120mA (which at first "Glantz" is all good and "Dandy") but since it is used in a full wave voltage doubler configuration which implies that you'll automatically lose half of the initial (AC) current after the rectification. So, if what I say is correct then it simply means that the device should only be able to deliver a maximum of 50mA (@400v DC) or less. So I'm thinking, wouldn't that be a "typo" on the schematic and that the BLU_BLU winding in fact delivers around 250mA of continuous current instead of the marked 120mA ? Another "anomaly" I spotted is that, at the WHT-WHT winding (175V AC @15mA) again, considering, it is a half-wave rectification (as far as I can see) how can we have 270V DC after R1 (1K) and @ the same time have another marking saying 230V DC ??? This is really weird. I always thought that for a half-wave rectifier, the voltage after the rectification should be: V peak= Vrms/0.7071 and in this case = 175Vac/0.7071=247.5V "average" minus around 2 volts (the voltage drop across the 2 selenium rectifiers in series) = 246V DC or thereabout. So...I wonder what would be the logical explanation for all of the described above ? I'm now thinking that there might be even more question marks on the schematic that I'm yet to discover. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Mine sings when I press the button but doesn't on the hour... there is some part that makes contact when the big needle hits 12 o clock?? They changed the birds on my newer version, no more woodpecker and a morning dove added at 7 am....

It is worth the extra work to pull the steering wheel off. My speedo cable was very rusty so I wd40 sprayed it spun it, then sprayed lubricatant into the cable spun it I also pulled the gears of the speedo and lubbed them. the hardest part is seating the square cable COMPLETELY. The bulbs pull straight out of the plastic base, I have replaced ALL of my instument cluster with LED even the small ones.

I just bought a 1996 Tracker 2WD 5 Speed manual, wildfire red with 78k miles with most of the miles pulled behind a motor home. It was stored when not in use and looks like new, has A/C and power steering. It has black fiberglass hard tops. I specifically did not want 4 wheel drive because I just wanted a small run around vehicle, and I was actually looking for a SmartCar when came across this Tracker. I especially like a rear wheel drive manual transmission vehicle so this thing was perfect. I bought a 1989 and later a 1992 metro 4 doors new and I find that Suzuki vehicles seem to be well engineered and made.

I had a cheap noname knock-off clock similar to this since 1998, and one day back in 2015 or 2016 the clock mechanism just stopped working. The clock doesn't have any brand on its face, just "Handar" on the mechanism itself. The sound module is made one single piece with its battery compartment, and the test button is just glued into the main frame plastic near the speaker, connected by two short pieces of wire. The clock face protective cover is plastic, not glass, and it is installed in such a way that I doubt it can be taken out without scratching or cracking. The sound quality is worse than in these ones, and there is no light sensor at all (the silent hours during the night are just pre-programmed to make a quiet tick instead of birds' singing). Still, I liked it so much because I got it as a memorable present from my parents when I was a kid. The sounds work good as new till today, but I have no idea on what is the problem with the clock part. Maybe quartz contacts corrosion as in the case of another person in the comments? I am afraid to disassemble it though, as it could turn out that I will not be able to put the parts back together.

There should be a way to route the cable into the firewall near the heater core, behind the radio, up into the gauge area. You can see the grommet in the video. @21:20

All the LEDs for the instrument cluster for my 1997 Vitara are out now, and it's annoying. But I'm picking up a third generation Vitara next week. I've been curious how to change the lights in it for a few years now. I might do it now when I get the new car, just so whoever gets it next can actually see what happens in the instrument panel. Thanks!

Have a question for you if you think you have an idea on how I can fix this. So I replaced the old clock mechanism with a silence one since clicking is hard to listen at night. The clock is moving and the birds chime when I push the test, but I can’t get it to chime on the hour. I took out the wire part that was in the old mechanism but idk if I put it in the right place to get it to chime on the hour. Do you think it needs to touch a metal part of the mechanism?

I just got one recently & it just arrived, but as I’m testing the Bird Sounds on mine, it’s not that Rare Bird Sound Pattern that I was expecting, which makes me so confused, as I don’t get it! 😕 That Rare Singing Bird Clock is by as the Patent Made In China is a Sticker instead of it being imprinted into the Back Plate! 🤔 So, if mine is not doing that Rare Bird Sound Pattern at all, then I really don’t get it, as that makes me mad 😡 & so confused! 😕 However, I just got another one with the Green Rim & I’m hoping that that one with the Green Rim’ll have the Rare Bird Sound Pattern 🙏🏻 & if the Green Rim one doesn’t do it either, then yep, I’m so confused 😕, as again, that rare one is by as the Patent Made In China is a Sticker instead of it being imprinted into the Back Plate! 🤔

Make sure you get a clock mechanism that has the built in switch. The light sensor is connected to the PC board. You will just have to desolder the clock mech. wires from the PC board, and then when installing the new clock mech, solder the wires to the board. The hands from the old clock mech. will, or I should say, should fit on the new clock mech. Not hard at all, just watch that new wires don't smashed when putting the clock back together.

Likely someone tried to get it to work. Looking a mine. Seems like it would start working. But, the electronics fails to chirp on hour. Maybe the photo resister. Maybe the clock is not tripping the sound board. Easy to open up. Would like to trouble shoot why it is failing. Several times seems to work but fail on wall.
