Ha! We are also super anal when it comes to dump stations/dumping our tanks. We have a whole process where Ron doesn’t touch any thing until he is decontaminated 😂. The bottom of the shoes walking around there and then inside the RV grosses me out so we use Lysol spray to spray our shoes 😂😅

Haha "decontaminate" is so accurate- I'm envisioning you stuffing Ron into one of those yellow hazmat suits from Breaking Bad 😂. We never thought of Lysoling our shoes before, but that's kind of genuis (we can't ever believe when we see people filling up their water tanks with those hoses 🤢). Thanks for watching 😄

Our local fire house gives free water. The county paid for it since we have a lot of poor people in the area who fill water bottles there. They probably fill the engines there honestly. Seriously who the hell would be homeless in Alaska 😮. I’d thumb a ride to So Cal. No way I’d stay in Alaska in the winter.

I've remarked on the same thing to Jess! Seriously, HOW can you be homeless in Alaska... especially during the winter months! But, after driving the Alaska Highway (and seeing how much the ferry costs), I can see how it would also be hard to get down to the lower 48 if you don't have money.

It definitely wouldn't surprise me if that's the case for many RVers, but without being too gross, the "moisture to solids" ratio in our black tank is probably much different considering we have to be really conservative with how much water we put in the tank for boondocking. While a lot of our viewers might flush with close to a gallon, we use a lot less than that. I suppose I could test it out, but I've heard some horror stories about having to clean out "poop pyramids" 😬

Hello, just a note to say thanks for sharing your adventures on the road on KZbin. There is an awesome hike in California called the Pacific Crest ridge trail. It's starts at a parking spot across the hwy from Emerald Bay at S. Lake Tahoe. It's an awesome day hike to Eagle lake. Or if you want to hike higher up the trail. There's Lower Velma Lake, then Upper Velma Lake. But there a beautiful little lake called Dicks lake about 7-8 mile hike that is awesome. It's been many years since my hiking days. But again thanks for taking us along with you. Be safe. And enjoy these times you're having. I have wonderful memories from my hiking and camping days. 😊

Anchorage is not the place to be anymore. Go there for the stores, but get what you need and go anywhere else. I've noticed a lot of boondockers going there, but it's not like it used to be. It's a bad place to go now for staying overnight. Was that the Eagle River Walmart? It's the best one IMO. Can't wait to see where you end up next.

While "hemisphere" is acceptable for the context, it doesn't technically fit it's definition, as hemisphere means half of a sphere. "semi-hemisphere" or "quadrant" would be more accurate terms to refer to a quarter section. Hemisphere is only accurate colloquially, not technically.

50+ year Alaska resident here. My house is about a 15 minute drive from where you are parked in this video. I haven't checked out your page to see where you've been, but I hope you're heading down the Seward Highway. There are many boondocking places, but they do fill up fast. You have to make the trip, even if you have to pay for a crowded camp spot...the scenery is worth it! If you have to pay for a spot, try Quartz Creek. It gets crowded but it is SO BEAUTIFUL in that area. There are free spots all over around there, but if it's a skinny, bumpy road you can't see around corners and stuff, probably best to walk ahead first. Most private property has no trespassing signs. And if there's a sign, they mean it, and might get grumpy lol Lots of free places around Skilak lake area too, but I haven't been that way since the fires happened so I don't know what it's like that way now. Enjoying my state through your eyes! Thanks for sharing! Oh, and Alaskans are usually the friendliest people, but just like everywhere else, tensions are running high for various reasons. If someone is grumpy, just flee. For every grumpy person there's 1000 nice people, so don't give up on talking to the locals!

I want to add way more clarity in addition to two locals that tuned in. People are moving up to Alaska to get away from crowds. Most Alaskans, or I should say, true Alaskans, cherish their privacy and conservative values. Those dirt roads to boondocking spots that all the tourists want and do enjoy for free, were created by Alaskans and now those places became overrun by tourists and same thing happened to hiking in Alaska with the same negative consequences. Noticed that that lady was trying to get away from you guys as fast as she could and people don't want to be filmed. What those apps don't tell you is that there are local communities that are very private and most don't want to have anything to do with people from Anchorage ( totally different crowd) and definitely not with tourists. You end up in Knik community which is very, very private. There was already friction between homeowners and trappers living in that area and fat tire bikers from Anchorage who were going through the land in that community to get to the glacier and not respecting the local community. The other spot that you said was weird, had nothing weird about it, not to Alaskans. There are many who homestead and many who have cabins off grit or trailers parked with dirt roads leading to it or just trails. Imagine if you had long dirt road leading to your very private property and some dude with the travel trailer would show up in front of your house in the middle of nowhere. Better yet if that dude would decide to camp there. I think that many tourists that come up and transplants that end up in Anchorage have difficulty to understand true Alaskan ways. Another big problem are road bottlenecks created by RV's. Drivers are not allowed to hold traffic if at least 5 vehicles are behind them and they should get off to pull ups that were specifically created for that. It's the law. Holding traffic leads to accidents and deaths. People behind start passing in non passing zones, speeding to get around or to make up lost time. When accidents happen on Alaskan highways ( some being only single or double lane) Police closes entire traffic highway and people end up being stuck for hours. That quickly builds into major resentment. I truly hope that you enjoy your stay but also understand that those people do not want You Tube tourists placing directions to their beloved, private spots that they enjoyed for generations, on a display in their videos for the whole world. This subject actually came up already on another You Tuber channel in Utah. Are Alaskans friendly? Hmm, yes they are but not when tourists try to trample their privacy and take away from their way of life 😉 Enjoy the beauty of the state and stay out of trouble. Btw, there is no such a think as safe spot to leave trailer disconnected in any area of the Valley ( from Willow to ....🤔 Homer unless you leave it in paid, monitored area. If you have done it, consider yourself lucky.

I suppose both of our opinions are subjective, but I feel like we approach our lifestyle with a sensible level of risk given that we live on the road and literally everything we own (including the tools we need to do our job) is in this little home-on-wheels. It really doesn't take much effort (in most places we travel) to find safe places to go boondocking. A lot of creators on KZbin sensationalize their experience for views and (in my opinion) I think we did a good job of highlighting the realities of boondocking, both good and bad, without trying to scare our subscribers. P.s. We've never lived in Florida. It's just one of the few states where full-time RVers can get health insurance with just a P.O. box, so that's why our SUV is licensed there. We made a video about it if you'd like to learn more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ap7InXd8fbVsZpYsi=1S41zUVjmjRCjQOO&t=1432 Thanks for watching and commenting. See you after the next video.

I can definitely appreciate that. But trailers also have some huge pros as well (at least, they do for us): - We love ours because we can drop the trailer and have a home-base for a week without having to move our home. It's so nice when waking up super early for a hike to not have to pack up my whole house. Just get up, go, have fun, and know that when I get back at the end of the day, I don't have to find a spot, level anything, and I've already got a hot shower waiting for me. - Also, we get 30MPG when we're not towing, so that's really nice too.
