Tales of Westerly Chapter 6: It’s time to fly! (from episode 23) JFiggsy had called for the Great Houses to unite, and come they did. Representatives from each House visited the Keep of Atonement and declared their fealty to the Kingdom of Westerly, but this was only the beginning. Words were cheap. Actions would be all that mattered, in the end. But what is to be the end of these endeavors? Where was all this leading? Why did JFiggsy call for unity? The Great Houses have worked together for the betterment of Westerly for hundreds of years. Peace was plenty, and this was a great comfort for the people as they went about their business of growing and harvesting crops, providing for their families, sharing their bounty with their neighbors, and caring for the land. JFiggsy of Figgs End was no different. His family, along with others settled in the region hundreds of years before, and they, along with their neighbors, were prosperous. But there was something… Was there something foul on the air, or was it the land that was changing? Were the shadows growing longer and darker? No, it wasn’t any of these things. But something deep inside JFiggsy began to gnaw at him. At first, he barely noticed. Perhaps he ate something that was bad, or he stubbed a toe and had forgotten the event; these or any such annoying part of daily life could have made him feel…off. As time went by, the thoughts of something being out of kilter invaded his conscious thoughts, leading to a sense of urgency. Without even realizing it, JFiggsy felt it important to make sure the people were ready, even though he did not know what they should be ready for. Over the course of some weeks, JFiggsy’s feeling of foreboding became justified as he had learned that an ancient evil had returned to the land, but had not yet gathered its strength to a point where it would show itself. And with news of the black roses from his trusted friend Rogerda, he decided to make his way around to all the houses, following up on their promise to defend Westerly. He also made a point to tell each of the Houses to keep the people calm. As word gets out, as it always does, rumors would run rampant. Certainly, Westerly needed to prepare, but just as important, the people needed to stay calm. After some weeks away, JFiggsy returned to Figgs End. Though tired and weary from his journeys, he made a point to stop by the Inn to let the Inn Keep know he had returned. Opening the door to Inn, JFiggsy saw his friend putting away some tankards in preparation of closing for the night. Looking up in surprise, the Inn Keep exclaimed, “JFiggsy, you’ve returned at last!” With a longer than expected absence, the Inn Keep had grown concerned for the master of Figg’s End, and his concern was ramped nearly to a frenzy with the disturbing chatter of evil about. He didn’t waste any time asking his master and owner of the Inn, “There has been troubling talk in town. Are the rumors true? Has he returned?” The Inn Keep might have gone on, but JFiggsy stopped him with a raised hand. “Rumors are whispered truths,” he said, perhaps a little too harshly. Then, “Figgs End is safe. You must keep the townsfolk calm, Inn Keep,” he said reassuringly. Calming down a little, the Inn Keep assured his master, “I will JFiggsy.” He poured JFiggsy an ale and pass it across the bar. JFiggsy took the tankard and began to drain it, not realizing just how thirsty he was. The Inn Keep had turned away to grab a fresh rag, then jumped back to face his friend. “Oh yes,” he remembered. “A visitor passed through. I didn’t catch his name. Tall fellow, head to toe in brown. Long gray beard.” JFiggsy almost spat out his ale, exclaiming, “The Wizard of Bark! I need to speak with him! Don’t worry Inn Keep, I know where to find him.” JFiggsy finished the ale in two long gulps, gave a long resonant burp, then once more ordered the portly man across the bar to “Keep Figgs End calm, Inn Keep.” Before he could reply, JFiggsy of Figgs End, the owner of this establishment, had vanished out the door. The Inn Keep sighed, and muttered to himself, “That was the perfect time to ask about my pay check.” He shook his head, knowing what was to come as he made his way into the kitchen. “My wife is going to kill me.” *** In much need of rest, but far too excited to hear that Rogerda had come calling for him, he bolted to his trusty steed. For The Wizard of Bark to come to Figgs End, something must have happened…or perhaps his friend had some urgent news. “cluck-cluck,” JFiggsy sounded for his horse, urging him to move with great speed. “Oh, Trebel, show me the meaning of speed!” The Master of Figgs End, atop his trusted steed galloped out into the night. Damned the pervasive mobs, the safety of Westerly was too important to keep the Wizard of Bark waiting. To the north he rode, first along the shores of Boot Lake, then across the plains and through the forest to Five Points Pass. About midway through the pass, there was a central hub of five roadways where there was a small camp for those in need of a respite. JFiggsy couldn’t take the time to rest, but he stopped there to give his horse a breather and have some water. Within minutes, he was off again, down the north side of the snowy mountain and beyond to the Village of Bark. At last, the Tower of Bark loomed before JFiggsy. He dismounted and tied Treble to a nearby post and made his way across the village square. All was quiet, for the village folk were still sleeping, but he could see the distant horizon brightening from a deep navy to indigo as the stars began to fade announcing that the night was giving way to dawn. Through the front door on the lower level JFiggsy entered the wizard’s tower. Up the stairs he climbed, beyond exhausted, but equally excited to see his friend again. What news would he receive? Or what urgent matter should they attend? Almost nearing the end of his climb JFiggsy became light headed. He had traveled so far over the past several weeks, practically over half of all that was Westerly. Little sleep and running on adrenaline, he must be careful to take care on the last steps to the top of the tower. His feet, then legs grew numb and his fingers began to tingle. The periphery of his vision narrowed as he looked up towards the opening to an upper room. What was happening? The stairs began to swirl and morph into unnatural shapes, lights flashing, then moving past him with great speed. What was happening? Was he about to pass out? But the scene of motion was too real. It was though he was traveling at break neck speeds through deep and dark caverns, then suddenly… WHITE Everything was white. There was no walls, floor or ceiling. Gravity…yes, he felt gravity. He was standing, but…how… “Where…where am I? What is this place?” JFiggsy asked, confusion permeating his mind. How could he be standing when there was nothing to stand on? Silence, but not just silence, it was the absence of all sound. The disorientation was unsettling. And then, just as he thought he would lose his mind with no visual or auditory stimulus, a familiar voice. “That is not the right question, JFiggsy. I think the correct question would be: when is this place.” JFiggsy turned around, and there he was. The Wizard of Bark. His trusted and loyal friend Rogerda, standing before him, dressed is his usual brown robes, grey beard, and a twinkle in his eye. Focusing on his friend allowed JFiggsy to stabilize himself. He no longer felt alone and falling, yet they still stood in the middle of a white nothing. “Rogerda! What…wher…when are we?” “I already told you JFiggsy,” Rogerda said. He extended his arm, indicating for his friend to take hold. “It’s time to fly!” JFiggsy pivoted to reach out for Rogerda’s arm. As he turned, he saw a plain picture frame hanging in the air, and in that frame was a black rose. It was then that his hand connected with Rogerda’s arm, and the WHITE suddenly faded to swirls of light…

Oooooooh! I couldn't even tell that was your voice! Good job dude! I thought that was some powerful stuff AND a good recap! I think you should do more stuff like that, the voices really help sell the story I think! For the Netherite upgrade you DO need the template and it gets used up during the upgrade so you'll need to duplicate them.

Absolutely brilliant! The intro makes a great start to a journal of Westerly! And the cut scene. Yes, you’ve said and folks know, we talk behind the scenes and bounce ideas around for the story of JFiggsy and Westerly…so I sometimes know a few things before most folks, but still seeing the thoughts play out in a cut scene…mate, I had tears! JFiggsy and Rogerda are two characters I’ve grown to love and care for…and to see them manipulated and harmed by an evil presence within Westerly makes me want to go grab my sword and fight for them! Looking forward to every piece of the story that is yet to come!

Excellent episode once again, my friend! That tower over the gunpowder farm turned out really great! If I may suggest, a few leaves and maybe some vine bits and pieces might still lush it up a bit. And near the end when you flew over the top part of the tower, it looked like you don't have it lit up. That will affect your spawn rates as other mobs will appear on or in your tower. Just a small note there. :) If you ever need any help doing a voiceover, let me know. I'd be happy to help. If you have a script, I can put together something for you. Stellar progress episode for the newer followers as well. Great job my friend!

Okay, it's official. You're doing voice acting for me some day... The bleating goats filled the cold mountain air that bit into the soul of any normal soul that wandered the mountain's peak. But not Empress. Her ears were too filled with the sudden answers she had pieced together from her journals. The day she had recruited Figgsy to join the Wanderers was the same day that the wizard Rogerda had approached her about the Whither roses. However both now were searching for these roses and to what they might lead. Who had told Figgsy about the roses? Surely not Rogerda? The wizard wasn't the type to ask for help, even if his own life was was near an end. Figgsy had been sent to find the same roses that Rogerda was after. Surely, that wasn't a coincidence... But now came the questions that answers create: Who had sent Figgsy after the roses? It had to be someone in high power. Someone Figgsy respected. He wasn't one to chase after death for a bribe. A sudden flutter of cloth interrupted her thoughts. And to think she had come here to get away from interruptions. A man with brown hair, a lopsided pair of mechanical wings, and far too few layers of clothing to sustain him flew through the night sky. Figgsy? *the thoughts in E's head as the conversation in the video takes place* Seeking after Rogerda? No. But the history! The history of the Whither and how they infiltrated kingdoms in the first place was by inhabiting the body of... Oh, no. Figgsy would have to take care of himself. If the Wizard of Bark was in danger, what would that mean for her? The dais would have to stay where it was. She had to run... (Also, I can't help but notice that I am surrounded by Screaming goats... That scream both when they're happy and sad... That sounds a bit familiar. XD)

Two things: 1. Holy cow, the story just ramped up. 2. Yes, you need a netherite upgrade template to upgrade your diamond gear. Only place to find that is in piglin bastions, with treasure bastions specifically guaranteed to have one. That being said, be *very* careful around bastions. I’ve seen pros start from the top and dump lava on any piglins they find. *Never* engage with the piglin brutes (the piglins wearing black and wielding golden axes). Lava bucket and bow and arrow are your best friends in a bastion. Anyway, once you have one template, you’re all set as long as you have a bunch of diamonds and netherrack. Unless you want to hunt for tons of templates, always make sure you have a spare to copy.

For the squids - you could close in an area of water around the creeper farm, and populate it with axolotls. As they kill the squid, you could have some allays collect for you. The server I've been playing on has someone who's using the allays a lot for collections and it is really neat to see.

Tip: To waste less fireworks for flying with the elytra, do this: 1. Open F3 menu and search for "Facing:(direction)". It is under the coordinates somewhere. 2. When you find it then look at the end of that line there. There should be numbers there that look like this for example: (163.8 / 4.8) Those numbers represents the X and Y axis. The first number works something like a compass and the second acts like something that shows you the amount of degrees you are looking up. 3. Start looking upwards until the second number shows "-45" then start flying. 4. When you start slowing down, look downwards until that number shows "45" and after like 7-10 or so seconds look upwards, wait for you to slow down and repeat. Maybe I'm not really good at explaining but I think you get it. Keep in mind that you have to fly higher for this to work because while there is some altitude loss at each loop, you gonna need just 2 or 3 rockets to launch yourself up and almost 0 to cruise in the sky thus you use less of them.
@Jfiggsy9 күн бұрын

For the squid, what comes immediately to mind is some kind of big bubblevator. What I’ve got going on is actually a guardian farm that sorta doubles as a (very ineffective) squid farm. Along with the overflowing abundance of prismarine, prismarine crystals, and raw cod, I occasionally find a stack or two of ink sacks. I made the guardian farm following a tutorial by Shulkercraft, if I’m not mistaken. The way the farm works is that there’s a layer of soul sand on top of an ocean monument and a layer of scaffolding on the surface of the water directly above the soul sand. Water in the corners of the scaffolding platform then runs into the middle where there’s a bubblevator leading up to the kill chamber. I’ll see if I can find the video I followed and post the link in the discord.
