A forest, a park, a closed unfinished building, a railway bridge, an abandoned house, bonfires, homemade firecrackers, our childhood was there and we survived. We're not scared of "sh!t". Will they be able to survive the way we do?

I would also like to add, when we picked teams, if you were picked last, or bc you were the only one left or you didn't get picked at all that meant that you sucked and you need to pull your game up. #GenXspeaks

Born up to 1985 are still in bubble of gen X. If your family had money all those things you mentioned were an option, but if you didn’t. We did not have cell phones, internet, or new cars

I'm still a bit Hazy really on when GenX Actually started. I'm a Dec. 1961 kid , Might as well say 62...but Yea I was born Right when the chaos was just getting started. Man growing up those first 5 years was AWESOME. I had it lucky those years becouse I had an AWESOME Grandfather that lived across the road. To this day I believe he was living vicariously Thru me. He let me do and go anywhere I wanted and he was Quick to cover up when I Did mess up. Great memories. But I digress. After I turned 5 my emediate family (mom, dad,my almost twin brother, and just born sister ) moved to Detroit from WAY Upstate NY on the Canadian/Vermont borders. Huge Culture shock. And to add insult to injury...That's when Both parents went to Before we even left for school and didn't come home till Real Late. That's also about the time they decided they didn't like each other OR us kids Good Times. Boot camp Training At ITS Finest

I'd say that cellphones didn't really become wide use for younger people maybe until about 2003. Maybe earlier more so in the cities. I didn't get mine until i was about 30.

May I ask a legitimate question? Are you the reason for the whole generational war against Gen X right now? I ask because I see that this particular video was posted 3 years ago and Gen Z and even some later Millennials are still going after you guys. The smart(i.e. older millennials aren't that dumb).

So, yeah, world without cell phones, maybe until the 80s. Granted, they were glorified radios and made of brick, but the world had them. My dad wore one on his belt for work and it kinked the leather where he clipped it on and it gave him genuine back problems. And the monthly bill was like the operating budget for NASA. Car phones were pretty much the same way. Internet was actually available in the 80s when I was in high school, mostly DOS-like and no graphics, but it existed and was used by anyone who could afford it. Cable TV was actually available in the 80s. I remember how badly I wanted it but we couldn't afford it. Remotes came out in the 80s as well. But we never had one at my house. Dad was as stingy as a scotch whistle. The car keys, I agree on. And yeah, corporal punishment my father was a master at it. Oh, yeah! Our music and movies were so boss! You get points for that. I was born in 66, and gen X is from 65 to 85 for birth year. And I know I'm Gen X because I was in high school when Nancy Pelosi coined the phrase in an interview and really pissed me off when she said, "We might as well call them Gen-X, they don't stand for anything! No matches, no protests, nothing. " I wanted to reach through the t.v. screen in our living room and choke her. Call me a boomer again, and there will be war. Oh, and by the way? I coined the moniker "boomer" on Facebook and nearly fell over when it almost instantly became a thing, THAT DAY. And again. I am Gen-X. It wasn't a millennial that coined that term, it was ME. Revenge on Nancy. Personal revenge. Satisfying. I do make my own videos. But I am not touching tiktok. China needs to get their finger out of our asterisks. So no thanks. Yeah, I'm a 2nd year Gen-X. Anyone who attended high school in the 80s is Gen-X.

Boomers forget that we know their music too. Think also of "Twist and Shout" in "Ferris Buehler" for instance. I was a young teen when John Lennon died and so it was Beatles Beatles everywhere for about a year or so on radio, in bookstores on TV, etc. Millenials were alive at the rise of home computers and internet but frankly they were too young to remember a life without them imho. Like any new technology, a lot of people could not afford these for a while so it took time before almost everyone had it. Even a VCR back then... I remember my parents finding one for "only $400" Same with microwave oven about the same price. That does not even factor inflation into it. Not sure what the food fights are all about but eh well. Back to mundane wanderings along KZbin. (Oh and I am not feral, just aloof. LIMH.)

as a boomer,I can tell you that gen x had it better that we did...gen x is our kids and we did our best to give our kids a better life than what we grew up in..and at least in my case,I did a great job.. gave my kids best of everything if I could afford it,soiked as much as I could,BUT still had punishments for their dumbass actions...but they still respect and love me...don't think gen z will ever have that..

Fellow Gen X'er here, and TOTALLY relate to this video; We didn't have cell phones, video games, or cable TV; We had IMAGINATION... We played outside from dawn to dusk, had a rotary telephone (try getting today's generation to dial one, and it's comparable to watching a monkey attempting to solve complex algebra), and I WAS the remote control for the three (yes, count them; THREE) TV stations we had... And I KNEW BETTER than to talk back to my Mom, because She had a meaner backhand than John McEnroe!!! 'Nuff said. LOL.
