I hate when creators think it’s unique and creative to gender swap characters that have already been created. Like dam can we not just leave stories the way they were meant to be. What's funny is that James grandpa in this film is actually old enough to be his father. It was stated that his parents were old, even by wizarding standards.

I don't how to say this without being rude but this is just bad. Bad acting, bad music and overly dramatic. Bad animation is understanble since this was made on a low budget by college kids. Even for indie short films, these Harry Potter fan made movies (including that Dumbledore-Grindelwald that was really hyper) are just bad.

A woman bring us into this world so it only make sense that it is woman that bring us out of it!

Well... I discovered the movie only today and I have been thrilled by the quality of it. There were really nice ideas, and the reinterpretation of the tale is a full success. Thank you for that!

I wouldn't call it an "official adaptation "... it's a fan film

I didn’t know this adaptation was around until today. It’s not bad. And it says a truth about Death that is often overlooked or denied; Death isn’t technically good, but Death is not technically evil, either. Death exists to balance out life.

Now revisiting this after a while there are certain things I liked. The dynamic between the three brothers is very clear. Antioch is the obviously the leader while Cadmus and Ignotus follow him. However Ignotus also is a bit more reserved and as the original story says he was the wisest. In terms of characters, the inclusion of a grandson intead of a granddaughter is interesting. James Peverell might have been one of several grandkids that had the cloak it was passed to Lolanthe Peverell and the Potters, or he might have been one of two. But, it is interesting that the filmmakers decided to have Ignotus give the cloak to his grandson first because we know it will pass to his granddaughter and she will her husband Hardwin Potter "there are no male line Peverells anymore."

It's only ever really these modern days that the color black is considered the color of Death. In the past Black was considered the color of life, fertility, and fortune because good food and crops came from black soil, and its at night that humans rest and recover. Meanwhile white was the color of death, grief, and mourning, because corpses grow pale, stars look white from earth to the naked eye, and several divine realms were heaven based, and it was considered the color of purity, and what's more pure than souls, stars, and gods?

we never knew if You Know Who had any feelings of sympathy for his mother he was mentioned to believe that she was the "weaker parent", since she had died giving birth to him he must have cared for her just a little bit, since he murdered his father for abandoning her

I'd like to think that Death had given up and just started knocking on every door until she eventually found the guy she was looking for.

It's amazing how they changed it from a simple poisoned whisky, when it was originally a dual, were even after the older brother disarmed Victor he showed no mercy.

I'm seeing a lot of constructive criticism in the comments, but I gotta say this: Whatever the shortcomings it has, it doesn't matter. The narration, the pacing and the mood, that cold tea becoming hot... Small things like that made this an intruiging watch. I showed this to my wife who has just started Wizarding world and I only showed her ″Neville Longbottom and the Black Witch″ followed by ″HP Philosopher′s Stone″. Then I showed her ″Dumbledore and Grindelwald - The Greater Good″. They mentioned ′collecting Hallows to become master of death′ and I had to show her this for what the hallows are. Having not known anything else of the potterverse, She really liked this movie and was surprised to see James P cause in first HP movie she watched, she knew that the cloak is a Potter family heirloom. She's loving the Wizarding world universe! Gonna start ″HP Chamber of Secrets″ next. I'm keeping to one movie every 2-3 days, and show the anthology fan made videos in between. I'm gonna keep to the main movies but also show her The Marauders before the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Sisters of House Black before Order Of Phoenix, and then I'll show prequel movies and Origin of the Heir before Goblet of Fire and so on... She's gonna have an amazing watch of the whole timeline. And having to watch something else in between the potter movies really helps with the passage of time between the movies rather than just binge watching them together. I'm really grateful to all the independent creators who have made these fan based movies like Voldemort: Origin of Heir and this one. I wish I had all this available when I first started reading the books and someone guided me to watch these in a well made sequence. Man what an experience!

Why is this short film made by college students so much better than most adaptations by big-budget companies nowadays?

I love what the actress did at 8:28. That frustrated slow blink says so much, as if Death was thinking “this mf 🙄, now I have to give him my cloak”

Although I won't say it's historical accurate it's so cool and the concept is amazing.

three brothers backstory was so amazing I love the dynamics between all three chose their own paths and beliefs and follow there own hearts and set upon a journey of discovery to see who they really are !

James closing the door with just a wave of his hand reminds me of Prue Halliwell doing the same with the Halliwell Manor’s door. Also, out of the four Charmed sister witches, Prue was the first to meet and even interact with the Angel of Death. 🙂

Amazing great short base adaptation movie I hope they will make Tom Riddle Jr. and Gridelwald Short Story And is James grandpa's is the 3rd and youngest brother Ignotus Peverell? or a Child or Direct descendants of Ignotus Peverell

I finally had a chance to watch this and I got to say it was not a let down it was beautifully made
