The GTX isactuallly a few month over 4 years old. I've had one since the debut and gigged it plenty with no switching issues and much better tone than many think. I agree with you that the TM series including the pro and the clone amps don't necassarily sound substantially better. I've played the deluxe ad i prefer my GTX because even if i DID hear much of a difference , i would never pay double for it and lose an infinitely more feature laden amp. But truth is i didn't hear anything more realistic or better. I also believe from what i have heard that there will be a TM pro based combo soon, possibly a mustang successor. But it;s gonna have to be a heck of an improvement for me to give up my GTX. decades of gigs with some great tube amps and the GTX is just the most satisfying amp ive owned because it sounds the same every nite and i'm almost never reaching over to tweak it at gigs because my tone ain't happening. That was a never ending thing even with the best tube amps i've had.

Hello Brian! Can you make a video about tunecore tiktok royalties? I have been watching you for 6 months :) I would be very grateful if you could make a video on this subject. some places say pay per video and some sources say per view.

I’m on the search for a modulation / effect device. I’m owning a fender mustang gt100 and i was wondering if the step to the pro master is worth it. I came to the same conclusion that the real question is: is it worth the price difference 🤷🏻♂️ I’m not convinced. For now i’m leaning towards the hotone ampero 2 stage. Less then half the price and better options imo. An extra route for voice sounds good. Especially for home use. The one thing which is a plus for fender is the use of an ios/ os app. Sadly enough i can’t find one for hotone. So oké, i’m still searching 😋 Thanks for the video 👊🏼

Hey-! I just want to say thanks for putting this out there. Frankly, I've grown pretty exhausted from 'engaging in the discourse' as it were, but I'm guessing that tear I went on last night was what tipped YT off to putting you in my feed to begin with. You're one of maybe two people I've seen who've gone about this in a constructive way, let alone acknowledged the issue with attention economy grifters, so, again, thank you for that. A buoy of sanity in an ocean of.. god I don't even know what to call it. What I do know, is that my mental sea legs are tired, time to hang my hat on this vid and take a rest.

So, I’ve played the tone master in guitar center for over an hour, and I’ve owned the gtx100, and the gtx100 sounds better, AND it has waaayyy more amps

I also own the gtx100 and sat in a local music store for a while with the tonemaster pro plugged into the fr cab and the tonemaster sounded just okay. Not bad by any means, but I could tell the tonemaster pro's algorithms are VERY similar (if not exactly the same). GTX100 is a pretty great value for what it is.

I have tried both. I don’t own the TONE master pro, but I had it for a few days, but I do own the GTX 100. I also own a quad cortex. I am getting a little bit tired of the FRFR thing as I am not able to get it to react like an amp. And if I’m going to use a Hi cut EQ to get rid of all of the tweeter sounds, why do I need a tweeter? Duh…. I run a leave on Fulton 2b booster in front of the amp and then I have a Keeley Halo delay in the effect loop of the GTX 100. I swear that this little system sounds so incredible after you tweak it, that I am considering replacing my quad altogether. I don’t need 1000 sounds but I like to have at least a good 15 to 20 for any kind of genre and this thing does it. I will say that the GTX 100 has a few real good presets, but a bunch of bad ones from the factory, which is quite common. But what you can create if you take, some time is staggeringly good. I forgot all about the TONE master pro, which I was very interested in after trying the GTX 100 and then purchasing it. I also want to say that the compressors are not the same. I could not get the tone master pros compressors to sound the way the GTX 100s do. The GTX 100 by far sounds better when it comes to compression . I think the fact that the power amp is immediately connected to an internal speaker just makes this thing sound great. I think something is just lost with FRFR . Lastly, because the I/O is so good on the back of the amp, you’re able to send a stereo left and right to the board if that’s important to you. But if you want a complete stereo set up on stage, you can also do that as well. I have a 210 stereo FRFR cabinet that I hooked up to and it sounded great. I am very impressed with this little amp and I completely agree with this video.

I own the GTX100 and it is a phenomenal amp for the money. Generally I use my Mesa Nomad 100 and Mesa 212 (V30) for live play or my Neural DSP amp sims for recording, but that in no way takes away from the Fender. The amp models sound amazing and is plenty loud for home play and can work in live settings unless you play Metal with a loud drummer. If you run FOH then the Fender would work just fine. It is a shocker how good it actually sounds. When the new toy come out I was shocked at how similar it was to the GTX. Same? Probably not exactly but definitely similar and too close to justify the cost IMO.
@brianknapp20006 ай бұрын
Exactly. I had a chance to finally play the ToneMaster Pro at a local guitar shop recently and it sounded pretty close to the GTX (in a good way). ToneMaster Pro has more processing power obviously, but the algorithms behind it are more the same than different and the results from both are quite good.

Thanks Brian! Am I understanding the 50% savings rate part? I think his approach is that once you are out of debt (including mortgage free) you'll then be able, without the debt payments, to then have the cash flow to invest 50%. That is the money that was used to pay down debt should get redirected towards investing when the debt is gone. It seems many might say "no way can I invest 50% of my income". They aren't realising that only comes in the post-debt phase. Until then, what savings rate does JL Collins suggest is appropriate?
@brianknapp20006 ай бұрын
I'm not sure JL Collins recommends a specific savings rate. It's probably something like "as high as you can make it without making yourself miserable". My own personal experience is I spent a few years paying off all my debts that weren't my home mortgage using a Debt Snowball approach (see Dave Ramsey for that). Once out of all non-house debt, I put a higher % into retirement by maxing out 401k, etc. I also find it useful to give generously some amount too (I aim for 10%, but the exact % doesn't matter, the direction does). You can get lost in the details so just focus on doing better today than you did yesterday. Make progress on lowering debt and increasing investing. Keep making progress until you get to a high enough % that diminishing returns kick in. That could take 5-10 years to fully implement, so take your time and be patient.

Is that state map locked to binary? or could you write it to have different values be different textures?
@brianknapp20006 ай бұрын
For now it is. But with dragonruby I can change it in the code on the fly if I need to and hot-reload it. Or, at some point I will move the level state into external level map files that are editable. Also, the wall textures are plain colors for now. An earlier version I did had the walls were just one pixel wide lines and it looked like ASCII art. I'll be adding real textures in an upcoming version. Thanks for watching!

the GTX doesmt use any of the Tonemaster modelling. ifs a entirely new engine... and the only amp that use it are the tonemaster series. its highly misleading when you say they have the same modelling. nope. the gtx doesnt have the power to run any of the model in the tonemaster series. it takes 4 core (Arm).to run these amp... because the tremolo and reverb are modelled too. the otber 4 core are core are for STOMP effect... IU.. preset loading etc.

I work in software. It's likely that there is some shared code or algorithms. Might not be 100% the same, but I doubt it's a rewrite from scratch given the existing software investments in Mustang original, GT, GTX, and standalone ToneMaster amps.

I would not use the switch with the amp for live use. There were dropouts as well due to the wireless implementation. I think the biggest thing will be how they support it.

@brianknapp20009 ай бұрын
Yeah, I agree. I'm sure there are subtle differences, especially if you put the GTX100 side by side with the ToneMaster Pro and the FR-12 cab in the same room. But, in terms of total cost that would be nearly $1,700 of difference, and not sure it would be that much difference in tone. At a pro level, it might be worth it, but I'm guessing the majority of guitar players wouldn't get that much value relative to money spent.
