Kudos for your content. I lived aboard a sailboat for 15 years, used a bucket to wash clothes, so a washing machine is a new thing for me. Further, when something breaks offshore, a sailor fixes with whatever is available. It reminds me of the Apollo 13 movie, they had to fix their craft with what they had on board. It is a dee-light to read the McGiver style comments on fixing a flawed product. Guessing the factory not selling enough washers anymore, so they cheapen it up to do just that, but I digress. Of the many 'fix' comments, I like the 15" rubber tarp strap for the slip tension affect. The other Comment I like is a plastic zip tie for slip tension. I will try both of these, with 4 rods I will use 2 straps and 2 zip ties, and see what works longest/best. If I had known about direct drive--oh well. Kudos again for your content. As an aside, We once broke a connecting rod offshore, so we overhauled the motor in the middle of the ocean, we made it in with a JB Weld patch, but that's a very long story. Peace Out.

I made the mistake of dropping the middle screw of course while doing this & with newer models you literally have to take the ENTIRE dryer apart including the two screws holding up the drum, save yourself trouble & just spend 2$ on new screws...

Thanks for your videos. I have a newer LG front loader that will sometimes leave water and I have to run another spin cycle to drain the water. Could if be the same problem? Thanks again.

There’s a lot of wobbling when the machine is turned off if I move it from side to side with my hand so now I’m wondering if it’s the hub that is bad… do you have a video on this?

I’m currently having a problem where the shift actuator is working. But the lower shaft doesn’t spin the agitator upper shaft. You can spin the lower threaded shaft that the pulley is bolted to. But it doesn’t spin the shaft that’s in the washer for the agitator. The basket does spin to drain as designed.

As a newlywed years ago we bought a washer machine for $60 at a garage sale. It lasted about 8 years. We underwent all kinds of crisis, mostly medical so we waited for the longest time to finally purchase a brand new washer machine. Back then it felt like a fortune to us. But we finally managed to get a brand new Samsung top loader. I did a lot of research and thought we were making an amazing purchase. It’s only 3 years old now and already given up on us. We replaced the dampening rods and they worked for about 20 loads and it started giving problems again. There should be a law to prevent these big companies from selling poor quality products that are failing within normal wear and tear usage. Now by the grace of God we can easily just say F… it! Let’s just buy another one. But I refuse to throw my money in the trash. I have to be able to fix this POS.

Maybe there is a compatible metal zip ties or hose clamp placed on that white plastic tube? I am not a plumber. I used hose clamp at the bottom of my sink and the leak was gone until now, maybe about 8 years old now. Also, a hose clamp to grip a clothes-multi-hook into an upright big plumbing heating tube [our towel rock], and it works, about 5 years now. And I use hose clamp to keep the outlet drain hose of RCA portable washing machine. It works. // If you have access to like an RCA portable washing machine, kindly tell us also how to balance the drum; it does not spin anymore. We placed too much clothes. I have to wash by hand now into a drain basket and garden hose to rinse it: waste of water but work is done.

Hi there! Wondering if you could give some troubleshooting ideas… my whirlpool is approx 2 years old. It keeps clicking lock every second. The cycle appears to have ran but not the lid is locked. We unplugged it for 12 hours and tried again. I tried your video to turn left, right right right…. Nothing seems to be working.

Why not try using some kind of Rubberband or bungee cord around the top of the spring to the bottom of the J hook shaft.

I know this video is 4 years old ...but i wanted to share something i tried that worked PERFECTLY ..So i have a samsung washer but the washer make does not matter ..I researched and researched these suspension rods to figure out their exact purpose..And yes hes right the springs have hardly anything to do with its real operation ..buying new rods will 99% not FIX the issue . The rods are actually meant to operate like pistons...slowly sliding up and down as the drum falls to one side or the other ..so .As he showed inside the " plastic " piece is a small bushing ..Mine was actually already slit in half and once i opened the plastic piece up it literally fell out ..He mentions using a material to form and new " sleeve " around the rod and drying time and bla bla ...no need ...im telling you this works perfect for any washer ..go out and buy a sheet of the foam rubber thats used in the bottom of tool boxes ..it literally has preferated holes . Some women use to line their kitchen drawers..but it has to be the rubber foam ...Its VERY grippy ..I cut a piece for each rod about 3/4 of an inch wide and about 3" long ...Pull the old plug thing out of the piece of plastic ( youll see a open void where it once sat) ..slowly wrap that foamy rubber around the rod in between the two plastic pieces ...then once it wrapped toghtly begin to slide the top down and continue to spin the top cap over the wrapped rod basically filling the void with the new rubber you wrapped around the metal rod...slide the two pie es together ..and instantly youll notice how much MORE RESISTINT the plastic piece sliding up and down the rod. Add some damping grease to where the plastic piece slides ( a must have as part of the fix .its on amazon ) put your greased up rods suspension rods back in and you are done my friends ! I fixed mine like this and my mothers wirlpool ...SAME issue ..

I replaced all of mine with a kit it worked perfectly fine for about 2 weeks now it has an awful squealing sound. I checked to make sure that the dryer was level. It appears to squeal more when there is more in it. We'll probably have to get some silicone based lube I guess
