One thing .. water backup .. IF there's a significant precipitation event, and IF lots of people have water backup systems, (maybe, some will not have any other kind, operable?) .. now, it's on the municipality to power these systems, .. besides the normal water demand? At some point, .. how can there not be problems?

i live in an older house with dirt below the concrete floor in the basement. i dont see any crushed gravel. with midigation systems still work in this scenario?
@DavidB-j3p28 күн бұрын
trying to figure that out as well. it is reccomdned for some old homes you just have the basement windows open with a fan in and fan out, but that would get cold in winter
@pedrochip26 күн бұрын
@DavidB-j3p just so you know i went ahead and had a midigation system installed anyways on top of dirt. we dug out 5gallon bucket worth of dirt and installed a fan and the results were amazing. im in canada so my radon was over 600bq/ cubic meter and now my readings are less than 50bq!
@DavidB-j3p23 күн бұрын
@@pedrochip that sounds great, im gonna try 2 holes atleast 10-20 feet from eachother and connect them to the same fan via PVC

I realize this video several years old and I don't know if anybody from the company checks the comments, but I do have a question. I haven't finished basement in my house, but I'm redoing it because of the flood that damaged part of the basement. The damage part had the drywall removed the two feet, but the drywall has not been cut back in the rest of the basement. I plan on caulking as many cracks as possible before I call a radon mitigation company and to finish the job. Would it make sense to cut the drywall back and caulk the slab to wall joint behind that drywall? Or is it sufficient just to caulk where the drywall meets the slab?
@DavidSmithRadon6 ай бұрын
Yes! Anywhere that is exposed you can add caulk to help seal it up! You want to caulk the foundation to the wall (if there are cracks), not to the drywall.

Hi Dave, this is great info, thank you! I had a radon system installed yesterday. Besides noticing 8-10 spots where the crawl space was not sealed, I notice the humming noise, which I'm pretty sure is not the fan but the air moving through the 4" pipe. They installed an AMG Legend. The manometer is reading 0.75", so using your chart that's about 280 CFM. Is 280 CFM too much? It seems like a lot of air movement. I'm guessing if I could cut this in half, I wouldn't have the howling, air through a cave noise either? I'm waiting to see what my readings are, then going to to turn the fan off and do some more monitoring. I'm planning to have the company come back out and seal all the holes because I'm assuming, it's supposed to be fully sealed. Thank you!!

Hello, I got the same fan. The AMG fan has 4 wires but I only have 3. I see you didn’t plug the last wire on the fan? The one that has the brown and black together. Is it necessary to plug that in and if so which wire should it attach to? Thanks!

The radon mitigation specialist that is looking at the home we are trying to buy said he needs to do a core sample to see if he can get pressure for a pump. The house was built in 1905. He also said he may not be able to install a pump because the old house might have a footer in the basement. Is there a solution for this?

Our mitigation “specialist” used this and it leaked during the first rain storm. He came back and said it was a 1 in 50 occurrence. After reseating it, he said we were “good to go”. Unfortunately, it leaked the next time it rained. I guess it’s now a 2 in 50 occurrence. We are in the process of having a roofing company quote on fixing the hole in our roof…..

Did Dan and the consumer meet? Because I worry about the consumer and Dan's actions. Where did Brian come from and does he know Dan? Has the consumer been introduced to Brian? Is the home modern? Tell me more about that bit. Sears is out of business. Where can I buy a Shop vac? ABS plywood? Huh? Can I get one of your stickers? Brian is great! What happened to Dan? Where did he go? Nice work, Brian. This verbiage on the sticker sounds mysterious. Inquiring minds want to know! I'll call tomorrow per instructions! Roller skating? I love roller skating! I think that's Dan skating. Why doesn't Brian get to skate? Ryobi is the best! Glad you got rid of those more expensive cock guns! Cock everything. That's what I've always said! Cracks and crevices must be filed! Nick? WTF! Is Nick related to either Dan or Brian? Nick is a good cocker! Anybody that knows cock can see that! Welcome back, Dan! Dan and his elbow seem to be a recurring theme. #weird? Time is money! I'll take two, please! Cosmetics and aesthetics are everything, amirite? Garage is the way to go! Dan gets a speaking role? #royalties! I've really learned a lot! Thank you for this video!

In our home, 3" PVC was preinstalled in case there turned out to be a radon issue. Like the typical plumbing usage, 3" is easier to run, fits in 2x4 walls, etc.

My radon fan has been cutting on and off for a few days. While searching for a replacement I figured if I was going to spend the money I should consider an upgrade to the fan. I spent at least an hour reading the .pdf's and instructions as several websites trying to understand the cfm, static pressure, manometer readings, and this video made it all crystal clear for me. Thanks.

Could you explain what the "new water backups" and "domestic water" coming from the pipe on the left refer to exactly? :)
@elishabrinton174610 ай бұрын
During a flood the power can go out too. If it does the city supplied water pressure is able to spin the sump pump to make it work still with no power.

Does the radon vent need to be level with the ridge (or higher)? Where does rain that goes in the radon pipe end up? Thankyou for the video!
@JapaneseJoinery2 жыл бұрын
2 feet above window or 10 feet away
@kevinfaubion52832 жыл бұрын
The venting is sloped so any rain/condensation in the lines drains back to the vacuum point below slab. The fans are designed to hold up to this amount of water passing through them.
@matthewlewellen52193 жыл бұрын
No windows but i see two vents to. The left and a fan to your right that could allow gas back in when the fan is off and vented soffit everywhere. Was this inspected?
