@Carbon1outdoors 11 years. The only batoning/chopping videos you have are 11 years ago. Kiln dried wood with what, maybe ten minutes' worth of abuse? Ask any bushcraft/camp craft/survival instructor, and they all say the same. I'm not out of turn, it's simply a known fact.
@GearConvoyАй бұрын
@mr.v4486 Nope, there are some rather vicious batonning videos, just keep trying. I even do chinups off one of them. I proved my point, you're just yapping now.
@mr.v4486Ай бұрын
@Carbon1outdoors again, 11 years ago. And yeah, I watched them all. Now take one out in the woods for 30 days and use only that knife for all your chopping and batoning. All the showmanship in the world won't change what is known fact.
@GearConvoyАй бұрын
@mr.v4486 I have, as have many others. You're barking up the wrong tree, bud. Cheap junk knives break all the time, no problem. But that hasn't been an issue with these and all the yapping won't change it.

Now this is a bad looking b***h. Arguably the sexiest survival knife I've ever seen. I'm curious, Is this a integral handle or is the blade bolted to the handle like most survival knives are? Best one I own is the Buck 184 that I regret beating the shit out of. Had I known the 184 would've been as expensive as it is now I would've never used it. Stupid s**t we do growing up. Lmfao

Us old guys remember the knives of the 70s and 80s and the insanity that the 'First Blood' movie caused in knife designs. The hollow handle design is great, but us 'diehards' will always question the lack of a full-tang design. I've designed a system that's an improvement over brazing or welding the blade to the handle, but I am curious how durable your design might be. It certainly looks good!
@GearConvoy2 ай бұрын
@@harrykadaras9459 Thank you very much! I have videos on here where I beat on the knives with clubs and do chinups on the handle. I don't know how much more I can ask of a knife.⚔️⚔️👍👍
@harrykadaras94592 ай бұрын
It's the best design I've seen since the 1980s. I'm not sure if it's been addressed, but as a woodsman, I used to buy the old "classic" survival knives as i liked the storage compartment feature, etc, however, the inherent design flaw of the older designs is the lack of a full tang, so that junction point of the blade-handle is critical. Have you thought about that issue for your design? Just curious - it certainly looks like a high-quality "tool". I'm thinking about placing an order soon...

@GearConvoy2 ай бұрын
@dustinwhitt5297 Thank you. All of the components are precision fitted, and epoxy is only there to waterproof. All of the durability comes from properly machined joints. Gets the weight down to 3.2 oz. There is a durability video on here, the axe handle I beat it with was in far worse shape than the knife.

1:34 I don't think you understand how easy it would be to break something like that. Hardened steel pressing against aluminium and receiving any amount of shock over time is going to loosen it and make the knife unusable. There's a reason knives like these are display pieces that only really exist in movies; it's a dumb design in practice. Only way it works is if it's TRULY a monolithic design, where the blade and handle are one piece. What you have here is simply not a functional design for actual use. As you said, if it's going to break then it'll break at the tip, the plunge-line or the saw teeth, but removing the tang (basically entirely) just makes breakage an inevitability.
