So if the liquid test at petsmart showed marginal ammonia does that mean I'm pretty much ok because of the type of testing it does? or is that still bad. It was slightly darker than the 0 result.

My seachem alert badge is always in the alert color. But when i test the water i have 0 ammonia. I have 3 of these in different tanks and the other 2 seem to work fine. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If I remember correctly, the two-step test kits that test for total ammonia work by first dramatically elevating the pH of the water sample. I wish I could recall where I read this. If anyone knows for sure and can either confirm or deny this, I'd love to know for sure. In any case, I love these. I don't use them as a substitute for daily liquid tests during a cycle, because of course the goal is no ammonia at all, but they do keep me fretting around around the clock between tests. I keep them even after that, just as an extra precaution to let me know if one of my tanks needs some unscheduled attention.

The best advice I ever got for corals is.... LEAVE THEM ALONE and keep your hands out of the tank. Stop moving them and messing with them. I had a frag of zoas not open for 2 months, yes, 2 months. It recently opened and they're thriving. Zoas are very fragile. I have a bunch of them and really, the best thing to do is to just leave them. I don't dip mine, never have dipped a coral; I let nature take its course. Everything is doing wonderful. Zoas will also stay closed for a while if they're going new ones. If you do want to use a treatment for dipping; MARINE MALEFIX - this if a gift from God. I dose my tank once every 2 months for 6 days and then do a water change. Melafix is absolutely amazing. It will get everything; flat worms etc. TRY IT!! You can use it as a dip.

I spent $30 on one of these at my LFS and it doesn't even work 🙃

I have the same thing in my tank but when I go to store to get water tested says high ammonia the have done the dunk test and the liquid have changed my water a lot and have added ammonia remover still losing some fish the disc say it is safe so will give it a test r Thanks

Good video but you need to expand on lighting options. You barely mention lights and did not even give an example. Spectrum, placement etc.

so at the beginning which is which or are they all sand irritation or are you just treating zoas with sand irritation. I have been super in to hackers reef for a while but this video just frustrated me in general. even the knife. knives aren't good for mixing. better than a spoon but not nearly as good as fork. thats just me being picky but its true a knife moves things around and scraped it up sure but think of the prongs on a fork like a highrise and the effect of wind between sky scrapers when there is a storm this "wind" between the prongs is flow and pressure and going to do a far better job at mixing anything than a knife or spoon unless you intend on making a batter. but yeah that's just a side story. really in editing at some point you should have compared the two rather than saying look at the start of the video with no descriptions on the ailments. Please remake this video and get someone to edit it with you. the deathly boring real time video was fine but the lack of effort or information is what has put me off. sorry for being a douchebag but I had to say it because as someone new to zoas i am trying to learn everything in detail so I can identify an issue before it becomes an issue

It's been a while since you posted this, but it should be known that Vibrant has an ALGAECIDE in it (something they've been hiding), there is a big discussion/analysis of this product, but a chemical analysis shows that its the same thing as ALGAEFIX. Sad that it turned out to be a $30 bottle filled with another brands $5 stuff, all marketed as a bacterial culture. It's toxic and screwed up my tank over a year ago. If you research the history, and guy who created the product, it's obvious. He has no science/biology/chemistry background. Just some guy with a tank that had the idea to re-package somebody elses stuff and pawn it off for a huge profit. Pure snakeoil.
