Looks like a great couple of days! What lures would you recommend taking on the boat for that kind of session?
@Fishinginbangkok
@Fishinginbangkok 4 күн бұрын
For the UL day i was mainly using a small spoons 3-5g. Jon was mostly using a small pencil. Both worked well but the pencil attracted more hampala barb for sure. I did hook a hampala barb but it spat the hook. A shallow diving crank bait and vibration bait are also good options. As most of the fish are in the edge something that will stay in the top 2-3 inch of water will help avoid getting the lure stuck.

@ Thank you very much for the hint mate! Palm tree is an option. But leks is a bit too far from BKK for a daytrip. Do you know of any ponds closer to the city? Many years ago I used to catch them in Pilot111, but I think there are no more?

@@chm1974 its a tricky one as most places don't stock them and the places that have a few they are stocked with that many other fish you never seem to see a featherback get caught. Goose lake has some you see toping in the morning and i seen a video of a Thai guy catching them on a lure. Or book a day out on the boat with Mr. Nat. you may not get a featherback but you will have a good day that's for sure.

Great Video!!! Is there any Fishing resort (Where you could sleep and fish with descent accommodation) under 4 thousand baht?
@Fishinginbangkok
@Fishinginbangkok 25 күн бұрын
if your looking at the higher end lakes like Gillam's, EFT, Jurassic for fishing + accommodation 4.000B is not going to do it. However if you are willing to fish and then travel to a near by local hotel there and many venues that would be around the 4000B range. I think Leks was 3500b a day for the fishing and the local hotel was around 750B a night. palm tree is 4500 a day and there is a hotel just down the road for around 600B night. loei jungle is i think around 5500 for the days fishing and room. you may be interested in the camping and fishing lakes Saraburi Ian the owner has 4 lakes to choose from for 500b a day and he has rods to hire if you don't have your own and you can camp on site or stay at the hotel next door. all the forementioned supply rods reels etc. if you have your own gear then the possibility's get more varied. to many to mention just take a look at my videos and choose for your self. you will likely need to book your own accommodation close by but over all it would work out much cheaper.

Great video mate, I would like to know is it still possible to catch the Giant Mekong Catfish in the wild?
@Fishinginbangkok
@Fishinginbangkok 2 ай бұрын
There are still a few around and i follow a guy on Facebook who caught 30+ last year but in the wild you wont catch them with a rod and line. They catch them in nets or snagging them in the body with long lines with many hooks on as they pass through the dam / river gates.

Great video! Did you ever do a part #2 to this video? How is the reel doing now?
@Fishinginbangkok
@Fishinginbangkok 3 ай бұрын
Hi. i should do the part 2 but never did. the real is still working. the bait runner drag adjusted from the back is a little tight when adjusting but other tan that it all still functions ok. I would still choose the shimano or the penn over the Kast king but if your budget wont go that far or your staring out and not 100% sure its not a bad choice based of the experience i have had. .

Quick question - I see that many reels are already spooled with some bright greenish mono like line. What type of line do they use in that area that looks that way? I just ordered a custom made ultralight trout rod from Thailand and want to spool it with something similar to what they would use. Thank you for your time.
@Fishinginbangkok
@Fishinginbangkok 3 ай бұрын
Hi, if the reel is pre loaded its normally just a cheap mono line of suitable LB for the real ratings. If you buy a mid to high end reel they are never pre loaded its only the cheap reels that may have some line already on them.

Very informative thank you, I've used a few of these braids for uk shore fishing with multiplier reels my favourite is 4 strand jof in 35lb although the Colour fades quite quickly ,
@Fishinginbangkok
@Fishinginbangkok 5 ай бұрын
yes your handy will be the color of the braid the first time out but over all JOF is one of the better braids. I tend to use Jof, Kastking 4 or 8 depending on the set up and the Manster if i want something very soft like on my baitcaster for throwing lures. they are cheap and strong. I don't doubt that some of these higher end braids are better but are they that much better to justify the extra cost and i can change out the china braid like 3-4 times for the same cost as the high end braid. Check out The Line Laboratory on youtube. he tests a lot of braids and is doing a gr8 job at it. very informative.
