Hi. I've got Mitchelin super sports on my m240. Which in the wet they can be very slippy on wet roads .. After reading many many reviews and tests on these tyres even the Goodyear tyre .. about which tyres are the best for wet conditions and dry conditions and comfort..The Mitchelin 4 s and on test of the new Mitchelin Pilot 5 vs Mitchelin Pilot 4s there saying the Mitchelin Pilot sport 4s is better... Iam thinking of getting new tyres even though my Mitchelin super sport run flats have only 5000 miles on them which they where on the car from new.. I would not buy run flats again Iam thinking of getting the Mitchelin Pilot sport 4s. But one of the sizes I want I can not find anywhere..

Can you tell any difference between the 2 oils..at all.. Would love to have both oils analysed after they have been running in the engine for a few months compare any Difference in the Contaminants in each oil test..

My experience is no it doesn’t, complete waste of time and money, leaves your car covered in tiny water marks. Zipwax car shampoo bucket of hot water sponge and some elbow grease. That’s 50 years of motoring experience. There just saved you a bloody fortune and got your hearts working as well bonus.

The specific quantity of oil is lower the bigger the engine. In other words: the quantity each cylinder needs to warm up is bigger the smaller the engine is. The difference is in the efficiency of the engine. The more efficient it is, the less heat it will generate and thus is ‘available’ to warm up the engine. Listen to me: just warm up the engine properly. And by that I mean the oil temperature rather than water. If you have a water gauge only, here the rule of thumb: drive 2-3 times longer than it took you to warm up cooling water.

The market has definitely fallen out of these for the reasons you mentioned, mixed with the post covid inflated price bubble burst, I wonder if it will rise again. I just bought a 2017 55k mile/ 3 owners, FSH, M140i in estoril blue with a manual gearbox (poverty navigation and no HK), un-modified, for just £13,000. In terms of value for money I can't think of anything that even comes close. It's a shame about the reputation these have now with lots of examples falling into the wrong hands, causing silly insurance prices (I'm looking at £1400 per year with 6 yrs NCB, hundreds more than what I was paying to insure my M2) because they are seriously good cars especially after some tweaking to the suspension and an LSD. I'll just keep it stock other than that, and simply enjoy ownership of the last ever 3.0 RWD hatchback to be produced at a fantastic price.

Great video Reg, the B58 is certainly one special engine. I cannot say that I have noticed a huge effect from the heat encapsulation on mine though. I run an OBD water temp gauge and the engine is always stone cold on a winters morning, even if run the night before. I guess another positive side effect of heat encapsulation is less mechanical noise.

May i ask is that the coolant temperature or oil temperature which one rises more faster? If the coolant is faster does it hv huge difference between the rises of oil temperature

I own a 3 door 2004 Rav4 which I purchased new in New Zealand. It came with a factory 2.4 litre vvti engine and is permanent 4 wheel drive. It has approx 75000 km. Has a 4 speed auto and is quick off the line. I have kept it garaged and it is in excellent condition. Very popular model here.

Another option on a dirty car with road grime is a dilute non caustic TFR e.g. jennychem. Only leave it a minute and wash thoroughly. Then a good 'shampoo and wax' type wash.

Like the detailing content Reg, and great to hear the cars back to top form. It’d be cool to see a video on cleaning the shuts/jambs and around the boot etc. It’s something I always neglect on my M140i, and being black, constantly nags at me.

I've got Michelin PS5's on my BMW G31 20d and I love the grip and handling in wet conditions. They're more silent (duh!) and more comfortable than the RFT Pirelli Cinturato P7's that the car came with from factory, but they also add a bit more resistance so the fuel consumption has gone up a bit. But I can live with that as they're better than the P7's in every other aspect.

Cool but it would have been better if you had just gently soaked the non snowfoam side. i.e dirt pre-soaked in water vs pre-soaked in snowfoam.
