So glad to see your up and on the road , I've recently just purchased and renovated my Toyota coaster as well. There will be struggles with the bus on the road ! I've had issues with power in there months I've been in it but honestly wouldn't change doing it for the world! It's such an amazing experience and you'll love it ! Doing it alone can be tough but once you get a pup it will help I've got my little Frenchie with me and we are having a blast ! 😊 The good times will always out weigh the bad , keep your head up and safe travels ! 👍

Welcome to solo travelling from another solo coaster woman.. 🚍 it's an incredible journey and you have plenty of others for company along the way, I will look for your bus as we might pass eachother 😊.

Hi Emma, sorry you had a difficult time on your stay here in SA. Not sure if you used John Guest fittings in you bus for the plumbing (watched every episode of your build & can't remember🤦‍♂️), but fwiw there is a gauge called Topargee that can cheaply fit in-line on your John Guest cold water that will tell you exactly how much water you have at any time in your water tanks & also how much you use for washing, showers etc & it is all in litres. So you know exactly where your water levels are at any time. The one l have in my bus is H2F-FM & it works. Also, you dont need to get into your water tanks & is so quick & easy to instal. I'm sure your clever dad could do it in a few minutes. Sorry, but give RV Labs a call. Brett (owner) is a genuinely nice & fair bloke & l am sure can help you out. Sorry about long message. All the very best on your exciting future young lady. Dogs are great companions when travelling. All the very best.🙏

Those rv labs latches look like form over function...don’t look very strong with the plastic parts. Don’t worry about travelling solo, there's so many people travelling Australia on their own.

don't get a dog you can't stay in national parks or enter them, many places don't allow dogs

I would suggest getting in touch with RV Labs about the latches. Good companies typically stand behind their products and will help you work out why they aren't working for you. Best of luck.

Woohoo so exciting! there are some good groups for solo travelers and people looking for work on the road. I'll be travelling with my dog but it can be quite restrictive, I think it's a good idea to get a feel for life in the bus before adding a pet so; don't rush into it is my unsolicited 2 cents

I did what you did to treat the rust on the roof. Just to let you know it didnt hold up. After repeating that process a couple of times, i epoxy primered the entire roof, and painted the whole roof with white industrial paint, using a roller. The paint on the roof is thin and vulnerable.
@peters8080
@peters8080 Ай бұрын
Oh, and before you do that closely check the integrity of the seam sealer. There are several vulnerable spots, that might need a bit of sikaflex before putting the primer on.
@peters8080

The vulnerable spots are where 4 seams meet.

I am not sure if you have got it engineered or had a road worthy on the bus yet but if you need some seat belts for this bus contact Seat Belt King in Braeside VIC 3195,and we will donate the driver and passenger.

Hi Emma, wondered where you’d been but now I know. Bus looks awesome and I can’t wait till you hit the road. Both you and your dad are doing an amazing job. Are you planning to have a shower and toilet in the bus and I would seriously suggest you consider a dust reduction system. Take care and I look forward to the next update.

Hey all! Just wanted to say this has been such a long time coming, in January I had had the bus for over 1.5 years and it was still an empty shell. So to now have my dream kitchen and this incredible setup that allows for running water and power is so surreal. It’s been a very difficult road to get here and I just hope if you’re doing something similar you keep going as you will get there in the end no matter how tricky it is! Also, something I forgot to mention is that I also have the ability to plug into shore power. This is something i definitely recommend doing if you want to run larger appliances when you are staying at a powered site.

Can’t wait for the next ep. Very impressed with the effort and hope you keep us up to date once you are on the road. Most important question is what is the skiff you had in the first intro and are you going to tow it with you?… ‘cos that would be awesome to watch. Anyhoo, get out there, pick your path carefully (like the trip north of Cairns to the top of the Cape is ugly at the wrong time of year, the trip across the Savannah Way is ugly from Hellsgate, likewise for the Gibb River Road, huge fun but go after the wet and after they’ve been graded)… but it’s a BIG country and lots of memories to create… look forward to vids!

Good work Emma. I am quite concerned about the long term strength of the way you mounted your water tanks. If you are to support the tanks underneath, you should use metal straps from side to side (aluminium is best), rather than a timber shelf. I can see the shelf flexing under the load of tightening. I also have concerns that the paint is not good enough to keep moisture out in the long run (even if the paint is thorough - 7:26 in your video shows some exposed timber on the edge of the board, unpainted). These tanks are designed to be mounted using the top mounting holes only. They are not designed - and do not require - to be mounted using under support. Given that your floor is in and therefore you probably don't have viable access to the top thread nuts, you could simply empty your tanks, and replace the timber shelf with two aluminium bars per tank.

I’ve lived in my van for 3 years and first build I had a white stone sink and it was the worst for marks so I ripped it out to change to a black metal one. I also started with those rv lab latches and found overtime driving bumpy roads and the drawers shaking the screws came loose and broke, I’ve since changed to a more robust drawer lock. I’ve been told by the owner they’ve changed to design so can’t comment on the recent version. Vans are built to be enjoyed … and renovated :)!
