Love this movie especially the ending. Two legends gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace to both Richard Pryor and Cicely Tyson. Love the ending song as well. They don’t make movies like this anymore.. Glad my mom introduced me to these types of movies

what the heck is that sound at like 0:53? I know there is a whistle in there, but it sould like a squeaky tire or door or something? Lots of music from this time period seem to have it...

Can I just say that Anne Heche and Kirsten Bell absolutely knocked it put of the park with these performances.

I love the song. But the part that always makes me laugh is when he says "go back home" then reaches his hand out like gimme 5 and Richard Pryor just dips as fast as possible leaving him hanging 😆

I wish they had shown every animal they ever had to find their way back to Gracie and her brothers. Negligent and abusive owners like their selfish crack whore of a mother make me sick.

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and thinking it was so inspirational for what Gracie did. Taking upon herself the huge responsibility of adopting and caring for her siblings like a mother because their mother failed to do it and was neglectful and cared more about the man in her life than her own children and allowed them to suffer. Grace truly did an amazing thing and gave her siblings the best life they can ever live.

Based on a true story from a Reader's Digest article. In it, we learn that Gracie (who has a different name in real life) actually had a child by her boyfriend as well, and that she broke up with him when he said he only wanted her and their baby, and didn't want to be a father to her brothers.

Love this movie! Had the honor of going to the premiere in NYC. The Executive Producer is the late great William Greaves and his nephew a classmate of mine. He got us tickets and it was so much fun! I saw so many celebrities in the audience including Morgan Freeman. He looked so debonair. We even got to visit Mr. Greaves fancy Manhattan apartment after the show. This song stayed in my head all night. Loved this song!

Lyrics: Open your eyes to your feelings Show me that you care Just like the stars In The heavens G_d (Yah) is everywhere Open your eyes to your feelings Your heart will let you see And let me say that I love you G_d (Yah) bless you and me

Easily the most uplifting closing music of any film. The funky breakdown is such a great contrast to the melodic lyrical sections. Sometimes I still sit down at the keyboard and jam on the theme.
