I first saw this movie when I was in my early teens. I'm a senior in high school now and this movie makes me realise that my life isn't all that bad after losing my mother because i didn't have to go threw all the things gracie did. It puts you in a whole new position at the way life can be.

This movie inspired my whole life, the whole story taught me how to love and care for my family. First time i watched this movie it was in 2004 when I was only 14 , I even named my self "Gracie" from that day as my "nickname" inspired by this young gal. I cant believe tears still roll down my chicks as im watching it again

What a film, my eyes kept filling up through out. Grace is an outstanding young woman to fight for what she always wanted, which was a family... She gave them comfort stability n love. Their mother was a pathetic excuse. I just don't understand why parents can treat their children in this way time n time again, n not show one bit of remorse. All that mother cared about was getting the next welfare check, she didn't care about any of her children, she cared more about Alcohol n Men. Great film...

Based on a true story from a Reader's Digest article. In it, we learn that Gracie (who has a different name in real life) actually had a child by her boyfriend as well, and that she broke up with him when he said he only wanted her and their baby, and didn't want to be a father to her brothers.

this movie is so inspiring! i mean Gracie was able to go to school, get a job, take care of her family, clean the house, deal with the court, deal with the social workers, & go through everything that she went through & she still ended up with a 3.9 GPA & a scholarship. it may seem cheesy, but every time i want to procrastinate, i think of this movie & how hard she had it (whether it was a true story or not) & it helps me get back on task & realize how much better i have it. i love this movie!

I love this movie and am grateful that you have uploaded the whole film , I live at home with my parent, I pay rent but that gives me everything I need and I am grateful for that, Gracie's mum is a terrible mum and should not be allowed to have kids and if she does then they should be taking off her and put in care, Gracie did the right thing by taking the boys in she is more of a mother to them then their mum will ever be and they are lucky to have her.

The best movie yet!! When I grow up I want to help all the children who have been abused or anything like that and I am going to be a judge one day. This movie makes me cry happy tears and sad tears cuz of the animals that are left behind but mostly happy tears because it is a happy ending for them.

I have rewatched this movie over and over a couple a times in the past few months. I am a birth mother and gracie was great! If you cant handle being a parent then adaoption is the answer! I realized that I was not fit to be a mother and the hardest choice I made was to place my four children, but now they are thriving and healthy and they know who I am and what I did was out of love for them. I am thankful for the loving family that has them.

The story is true and is based on a real person named Amy Waldroop. Reader's Digest picked up her story and it was sold as a Lifetime movie. They did change the ethnicity of the characters who are of mixed Hispanic/Caucasian race. The real "Gracie" Amy has graduated and now working within the social worker field and their mother is now 60 is still having problems with the law.

what a lovely film..i cried too. how beautiful it was to see a sister fight to keep here siblings together. so sad the natural mother was to loose out. she needed help and never got it...if she had gotton help offered it might well have turned out gud. but sadly no one offered her the help.. im glad it turned out the way it did though.. gracie is a credit to the human race..what a lovely and caring girl.. 10 out of 10

Amazing how drugs have such a strong hold on people, whether or not she was a stable or "fit" mother she obviously still had that maternal love for her kids, it was heart wrenching to see the kids pick Gracie instead of Mom. BUT it was a good choice by them. Sad that this happened and still happens in real life...

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and thinking it was so inspirational for what Gracie did. Taking upon herself the huge responsibility of adopting and caring for her siblings like a mother because their mother failed to do it and was neglectful and cared more about the man in her life than her own children and allowed them to suffer. Grace truly did an amazing thing and gave her siblings the best life they can ever live.

Is it really unrealistic to believe that some ppl thrive even when faced with unbearable circumstances? Especially in this case: Gracie brought her siblings up long before a judge decided to grant her adoption rights. So it's not that big a change for her. Her sibling have always been her responsibility. She's obviously not your average "party" teen. So one cannot compare her to normal teenagers her age...

He is rather stupid. All he kept thinking about was himself. Telling her that her family is ruining her life, what kind of guy does that. It was obvious she cared for them, and choice. Please what choice was there, her family of course. All he wanted was her 100% attention to him. Never going to happen. If only the family knew what kind of guy he was. They would of slap some sense into him.

@xNightxwolfx2 Yes but it's better to have a surname which is actually in your family tree than one with no connection to you at all....If I was going to change my name I'd take a grandmothers name or a great grandparents surname because doing that the name is still of significance to you because you're descended from that name...and it's a new start too

Tommy was right wanting his own family. He was too young to start a life with 3 kids that were not his. But Gracie was also right wanting to take care of her brothers. Too bad they had to end up their relationship. That´s a though choice, but who said life was fair.

in a way, its for new identities. Now that their sister is their guardian, they all need to have the same last name. Alot of times in adoptions the kid's birth certificate is changed so it says that their adopted parent(s) are their parents.
