Hi mate. Long time no see Do these cars suffer from the rear subframe cracking like the e46 coupes and sedans? I just got one, but might bail on it as a drift project if they do.
@ABIMOTO10 ай бұрын
Hi mate. It's a bit of a strange one that as I've never really heard of the compact suffering from subframe issues. There's no logical reason for it as they are the same rear end as the coupe, saloon & touring.
@ABIMOTO10 ай бұрын
To be fair as a precaution I always plate the subframe mounts & RTA when ever I'm building an E36 or E46. I just view it as preventative maintenance. There no such thing as mechanical sympathy in a drift car so my view is add strength whenever possible 👍
@starfox_wr-45e9310 ай бұрын
@@ABIMOTO Thanks for the replies bro. I've not heard of it really either, so I've been asking around a bit. Probably should have done this before buying the car tbf 🤣 but as you said, it doesn't get reported from what I've seen, yet the others do despite being what I assume is the same floor mounting point design shared between all of them. I've already got to rip out the n42 and replace it with something else. I bought it just be a fun, mess around car not a pro-spec car or a never ending project/money pit. So the thought of having to tear into both ends right away.... oh boy, not appealing. 🤣 It's already so easy to get carried away with project creep. I said just some simple cut knuckles/adaptors will do for lock, but find myself staring at full SLR kits... Car isn't even delivered yet lol Anyways, thanks for the response and solid advice. Happy holidays brother 👊🏾

@@starfox_wr-45e93It's a lighter rear end so this why subframe issue is very rare compared to big E46. Less stress. But if you drift or race it might come up sooner rather than later. Strengthening, however you want to do it, is a good idea.

Interesting video my friend now I was removing /changing the cam sensor and the 8mm bolt has somehow fell in the recess of the gear box I haven't tried to start van do you think I have to remove box or can you think of a way to retrieve the bolt it's been a bad day :(
@ABIMOTO Жыл бұрын
Hmmm. You might be able to loosen the gearbox bolts enough to pull the gearbox back 10mm and hope that the bolt drops out.

Nice work! You use or original pressure plate and just change the clutch disc itself or? I have the welder and soon I have the need to probarly make this myself. Did you just use a angle grinder for cutting the original bellhousing or did you mount it in a lathe? Thanks for any replies, Greetings from Sweden.

Hi great video. I fitted one to my car years ago but could get anyone to code the car. I was wondering do you not have to do anything to the engine management system. which notifies the engine that the car will be pulling something which changes the performance of the engine for cooling. Could this be done via a Carly OBD system? if anyone as done it can you point me in the direction to that.

Today, I welded a gear box mount. It didn't take to it the best. It start bubbling and getting perosity in the welds. It may have been contamination from not degreasing or may have been welder settings(pulse frequency or balance). Could you please let me know these two figures ( Hz and %) if you can remember. Thanks
