Interestingly Lidl now stock the Czech brewed version of this. A comparison with the UK brewed version would be interesting.

I remember the advertising in the 80’s and they pronounced it Oran Gee Boom. Orangeboom, orangeboom it’s a lager not a tune. 🎶

My introduction to dunkels was a stag weekend in Berlin, at the Hofbrau keller. I don't remember all that much of the weekend but I do remember the great beer. It's not all that dissimilar to the old milds we used to get in the UK
@RaveyDavey3 күн бұрын
Edinburgh arguably has the right kind of water for lager.

Another one I could only have in Munich, we get the Marzen here in the US. Drank more than a few of those! Love Spaten
@19bdc684 күн бұрын
My favorite. We can get the Marzen version as well and this is just like what we had at Oktoberfest last year. Everyone I've given one of these to all say the same thing: Oh, that's delicious!
@19bdc684 күн бұрын
Great review! Had the pleasure of tossing back a few of these at last year's Oktoberfest. Goes down VERY easy. This year bought a mini keg of it, ended up drinking half of it before I knew it, and did I ever feel it. Didn't even check the ABV until the next day to realize it was 6.3

Another example of a half decent beer being brewed under license in the UK and tasting like piss. Why can’t we just import it?

I had a pint of this earlier at my local Wetherspoon, on the way Home from Work. I sat and read 'The Time Machine' by H.G.Wells, near the window. What an enjoyable moment. I would've stayed for another, but the snotty kid who threw my pint at me kind of changed my mind for me. 😂 I do like this ipa. Strangely enough, i popped into Tesco for their 4 for £7 deal. I got this, Hobgoblin Dark Stout, Broadside and some Bavarian Dankel Weissbier i've tried before and loved. The others i haven't tried. ( Well until i got to Wethys obviously. Haa!😋)

Buddy, you should come to Columbus Ohio. We have several markets which will let you buy singles even from the American adjunct lagers… but I certainly recommend shopping for local craft beers. We have a plethora of good craft beers here in Columbus. Which also display the alcohol by volume 😉

Cruz Campo, Madri all pumping Glucose Syrup into it. I can just about stand Madri if its the only option, but as beer goes its utter junk in my opinion. Just buy a bottle of German Pils for great lager; Paulaner, Warsteinner, Krombacher etc. All streets ahead of the fake UK stuff.

Samuel Smith oatmeal stout is far superior, than any macro brewed stouts, takeaway the nitro, it will be even more bland

The glucose syrup shouldn't add any sweetness (unless they prematurely stop fermentation) - it's very fermentable, and it's also a lot cheaper and easier than grain. The sweetness is probably just the lack of hops lol, and the metalic taste is probably poor yeast management and/or fermentation. Perfect park bench beer! lol. Good review, dude!

This is too strong for me. 30 years ago I used to drink Kestrel Export at 5%. For a while Kestrel Lager was brought back at 4.2% which was OK. Thats gone again now at least in England. I guess the purple beer is now the standard strength lager at 4.6%

I check all new beers for GS now and avoid them like the plague, Shepherd Neame Have gone down this route and killed their brand along with the majority of swill brewed under the Marstons, Wychwood labels.

Same. Madri and Cruz Campo lagers use it and I wouldn't clean my toilet with it let alone drink it. Awful.

If the park bench crowd are Kestral's main customers then maybe that's who they are aiming at with this strong lager as well. The last 7% lager i had was about 25 years ago in Thailand.
