Great tips, especially about the direction of the hook on a spoon! I like to pinch the barbs before attaching them to the gear incase you slip and hook yourself LOL

I can appreciate your video but I think you present it slightly misleading. Your info is valid but the order is off. First and foremost with retention is always, was the fish in season and legally hooked. Regardless of any other factors that determines if you can retain. Just because you gill hook and kill an out of season fish does not mean you keep it. After that all that your points are defenitly valid. Problem with videos is people don't read the Regs. Don't take the monsters, never feel bad killing an in-season hatchery fish, if it's in-season and it's going to die after release keep it and count it. All very valid points

Have you ever tried a waterline or Gaff release? Do you intend to use it next time you're releasing a healthy fish?

I was first person to fish out of Eagle Nook ....it was in framing stage....problem is it's expensive to fly in....really expensive.....and it's very touristy....you can fly into Haida Gwaii for same price and rates for fishing less

Awesome. I love travel fishing, especially when it's a similar style to fishing at home. Question: Was the artificial herring strip from BC? If it's from BC, can you share more details about how to get some to try?

Flasher attached directly to the downrigger cannon ball. Then spoon on a clip back around 6-10 feet. So nice not to have that big flasher on your line while fighting the fish. Excellent success off Rupert for years.

Couldn't find any of the actual research studies. Any links or citations to the source material? Not doubting a thing you've said -- sounds right for sure -- but I'd like to review the literature.

I hate fishing with flashers but sometimes it's a must. We did a run from Everett, WA and fished kyuquot in July. The fishing was awesome and the Kyuquot people are great hosts. Looking forward to spending June, July and August on the west coast from Sitka to Haida Gwaii down to Kyuquot to Barkley Sound next year as we will be finally retired. Love the show and wish you would post more adventures. Thanks for sharing your adventures. If I knew how to produce content I would gladly do so. I can barely use social media LOL.

I've read about the rockfish releaser and was so pleased to see it in use. Trips I've been on over the years every guide just tossed them back only to die. I hated that. Well done to your guides for using that device.

Just discovering the Channel Brenden. Is this a personal boat or do you run a fishing charter now? Great boat, back in the market for a boat again myself. Had a cabin cruiser and a sailboat loved them both but thinking next boat will be a dedicated fishing vessel that can accomplish some cruising and weekend trips.
