Yeah I thought it would do better than it did, I was in a nice sheltered area with practically no wind but the midge repellent didn't stop them from coming near me. I will give it another few goes, because even though it didn't get rid of them I only got 1 bite. Don't know if that was just down to luck though! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊

Great video Stu.👍 I've noticed myself that those Sheep up on Kinder seem to be getting tamer. Your video demonstrates that lol. Also, that was a nice spot where you camped at. It was a good job that you took a bivvy with you for that location mate. I've heard from others, that those repellent gizmo's seem to work better on Mosquitos rather than Midges, dunno really, that was just something which I heard. This was an enjoyable Kinder adventure mate, cheers.🙂

Yep you can get a bivy in almost anywhere. I like hoop bivis with front and rear mesh (like my Elan) so you can open your eyes and see the stars at night. A side loader is a game changer though. Much easier to enter and exit. Recommend a tarp to complement the bivi especially in rainy weather. I’d have left the beer in the fridge, too heavy😉 I’d heard of sheep worrying, but human worrying?🤣atb

Hi Stuart, pizzas made on a ledge (inspirational). Ive got a Abisko lite 2 and really like it. Its low profile, so you can only really sit up where the sleep compartment meets the vestibule. But thats deliberate so it sheds the wind. Really robust tent in my opinion. If you enjoyed the Salamander Bivvy the lite 2 will feel like a palace. Loved the video and extra dinner guest's 👍

@StuartThow It can be, but I don't go out in the harsher winter months anymore pal due to my asthma. I haven't double poled it, it seems to manage admirable when I've been in it. Being a tunnel tent I probably would think it a good idea if you got one and headed out in harsh winter conditions tho 👍

@StuartThow
@StuartThow 20 күн бұрын
It's a pretty good budget tent, you get a decent amount of space for the money. Its by no means perfect, floor is a bit thin for me, has a full mesh interior and weighs 2.5kg. But it's cheap and quite big, I would also look the Lanshan 2 that they also make, thats lighter and you get tons of space. Another good option is the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 👍

@StuartThow
@StuartThow 21 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, the Nightcat tents are pretty good. This one is slightly heavy at 2.5kg but it's pretty big. Deffo not a winter tent though with the full mesh interior. Tent wise I'm still tempted with the Nortent but also considering the Fjallraven Absiko Lite 2. Thanks for watching though, really appreciate it 😊
@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors
@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors 20 күн бұрын
@@StuartThow yea it looks a big enough tent but I don’t mind carrying heavy if your getting more room. The Abisko looks a great tunnel tent, definitely a hard choice between them two, I would sway towards the tunnel tents.
@StuartThow
@StuartThow 20 күн бұрын
@@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors Yeah I'm leaning more to a tunnel tent for the extra room and wind resistance. I think you can double pole the Abisko lite which would be handy in winter.

Replace the pegs to get the weight down, they are bobbins. If you pitch the head into the wind and leave the zip open a little you'll have no condensation problems, especially with a buff over the face. I got mine for 70 quid and love it

Nice review Stu. Presumably all that black area is mesh. The hooped bivy is a game changer, not least for preventing slugs having relay races on your face🤣. I like (so far) the Elan as it is low profile and has mesh in front of and behind your head. This gives good ventilation. The side zip also makes for easy entry/exit. With a side zip it’s way easier to get up for a pee. You don’t have to leave your bag. I recommend using a small tarp to deflect weather and give you a sheltered cooking area look forward to seeing you out in your bivy. Atb
@StuartThow
@StuartThow 25 күн бұрын
Yeah all the black bits are mesh, so as long as its a dry evening it should have a decent amount of ventilation, do like the look of the Elan though ... I keep looking on Ebay to see if any bargains appear. Will deffo look at using a tarp though for some extra protection while cooking
