I’ve been trying to catch my first steelhead on my own for the last few weekends with no luck. Tried all along the sandy and clackamas. Still not giving up
@watershedflyshop9 күн бұрын
The first one is often the hardest. Don't give up! Fishing sunrise/sunset will help. If youre swinging flies, try down stream mends to speed it up.

@@watershedflyshop it would be awesome to get a little more info on the the rods. What lines you like on them. Scandi, skagit and midbelly performance. etc. enjoy the content. Cheers.

Would you recommend this, the ion, or boost blue for streamer fishing? I am looking at getting one of these rods to fish streamers for trout and smallmouth. Right now, the water is too hot to fish for trout during the day and I was just exposed to smallmouth fishing on the fly rod. We were making pretty long casts, maybe 60 feet or so to the smallmouth since the water was low and clear. Im wondering if the extra bit of length on a 9ft is what I need. I was throwing a Winston Alpha plus in a 7wt, so I am between a 6 and a 7. It was a bit tough for me to load the winston at least with a little line out, so I'm thinking the 6wt may be better especially for when I hand the rod to clients (I'm a new guide as well).
@watershedflyshop15 күн бұрын
For bass and trout this for sure. I'm not aware of a better streamer specific rod for ~$300. I would keep in mind that this would be a streamer specific rod. With the right line (SA Trout express or Airflo Streamer max SHORT) its not too difficult to have clients do a pickup and shoot a fishable amount of line. If you NEED to fish it with a floating line you have two options IMO the SA Titan Float or a SA MPX. Hope this helps!

Does Burk make 14' rods for longer lines? Have a 14' Sage (butter), would love a 14' 7wt or even a 16" 9/10 wt for long lines (80 plus feet) on the upper columbia (long swings are the key).
@watershedflyshop5 ай бұрын
Yes they do. they make a 14'2 8wt and a 14'1 7wt
