Thank you! I so appreciate being able to use this as an alarm. I haven’t heard it since I left college in 1986 !

Thanks so much for this playlist! It is exactly what I have been searching for - brings back early 1980's childhood memories

Loved the simplicity of your solution without the usual blathering of most videos that take 10 times longer. Great solution and great presentation.

Thanks so much for this. I woke up to the sound of birds and Respighi on many a morning with my radio alarm tuned to WGBH. Not a bad way to begin the day.

I just cut a 2" PVC pipe in half at about 3 feet long sanded the edges and rounded the ends and lashed it to the mast end to support the roller furler. Much lighter and easier.

Like others who have commented, I’ve been watching this video at least a couple of times a year since you posted it. Your newer video, baking in a pot, simplifies the steaming, but this video is a classic. (I use a cheap enameled chicken roaster to accommodate the loaf shape.) You’re a wonderful teacher.

dont forget to look at the lower shrouds he has connected with some slack so when the mast gets to the height where it may wobble, the shrouds are tight enough to stop that.

That is simple and elegant. For the first time this spring I couldn't bull my mast up. Thank you for sharing.

I always rise the mast (Columbia 23) by my self. Is fastest, but need more energy, I think es more comfy in this video way.

Hello, dunnotube. I'm attempting to adapt your amazing system to my Com-Pac 16. I would love to see more about how you attach the gin pole to the mast, as well as how you get it set into place vertically, prior to the actual raising. I'm partially disabled and have trouble scrambling around on the top of the cabin. Any additional video, photos, or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

This is very clever and a significant improvement over the system provided with the sailboat. I never felt safe raising and lowering the mast by myself.

This is... beautiful. I thought it was funny at first, even a little insulting to speak it in a tongue that is not either Pali or Sanskrit, but the Sutra is beautiful nonetheless. Bravo.

How did you lower the mast? The ratchet only controls weight in one direction i.e., raising not lowering (under control). Thanks!!

Important to note the addition of the optional baby stays that make the single-handed mast raising possible by adding the lateral stability you need.
