Is there a shader which solves this just by checking the scale of the image? Like giving an ai model or an algorithm like wave function collapse, the small image as sample and it would use that to create rules using the color pallete of what you are trying to scale up. I am not a programmer but i could cook up a small project. Do you thinkmit w9uld work. Also the ai model would only use your image as a dataset as using it for a small resolution like upto 64 by 64 would be enough. Though for more than 512 by 512 you might need multiple images.
@1BitStudioАй бұрын
@sadlarry7772 You can have a canvas of 100x100, but on it you can draw many sprites, each with different pixel size. And people usually upscale pixel art when posting online to avoid artifacts from compression that social media sites use to save on bandwidth. That's why AI generated images in pixel art styles always have mixels. As far as shaders go, there are plenty of shaders that you can apply on 3D art to make it look like pixel art. One of the games that made this popular is Dead Cells
@sadlarry7772Ай бұрын
@1BitStudio I guess I was unable to explain properly. I can upscale an image, no problem. The issue is mixels. I want to add more details. I am thinking of just using .svg for my game. Though i am still looking for a tutorial on how to do it.
@1BitStudioАй бұрын
@sadlarry7772 If you want a more detailed pixel art, you can just draw more details. That said, if you lack the skills or time to do it, there are plenty of styles with small amounts of details - like minimalistic styles with no shading
@sadlarry7772Ай бұрын
@1BitStudio it's one of two choices. Either I go for a minimalist style, or I could create a shaderwhich adds details. I don't know how would that be possible. Personally I will look for the method of adding details using an algorithm. It would be better than ai. Or I could hide the mixels by covering it up by objects which are scalable and use gradient colors. Like creating a shader for a hat which covers the head. Or using a uv or normal map. As long as mixels get hidden, I think that would be enough. Because such a problem can never be solved 100% because interpolation never gives an answer which can be satisfied unless it's in a math problem. I just want to ask for any resources related to my issues
@1BitStudioАй бұрын
@sadlarry7772 Shaders are more friendly for non-pixel art, you can always go that route. As far as shaders that create details like you're talking about, I would not know

This is how tutorials should be like. Simple but also informative, and you don't assume that the person watching the video is some expert who knows everything about everything. I learned a lot from this videos especially on the shading parts, and a lot of things that was fuzzy in my mind became clearer. I hope you do a full series just dedicated to shading and anatomy, and if you do pencil art, I hope you do some on portraits too, lol! Great tutorial and you have a new subscriber!
