Excellent Job. Just getting into ACC and looking to get my LFM rookie license soon, but still got some work to do to get the car setup and my lap times down. Always seem to be a couple seconds off pace for what I need to get the LFM license. Gonna keep grinding away until it clicks.

They're not comparable. What you pay for an ACC DLC with 10 cars and a few tracks is the same as what you pay for 1 car and maybe 1 track in iRacing.

Great vid! What do / can we do online if we literally have just started on acc? Are there online races under the sa 80 rating?
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
From the main menu you go Multiplayer > Quickjoin (Public multiplayer). You will generally have a Monza race. I just checked and it's the Nurburgring now. It changes every race, and if you keep it clean and consistent your SA goes up. When it hits 80, you can register on LFM. You can also do races against AI at low difficulty and keep close to the one in front. It's a boring grind as you gain around 3 or 4 SA per race if you don't crash. I prefer the public multiplayer mode.

Bro, how many hours did you have played when you made this video? You seem naturally good for a beginner (especially compared to me lmfao)
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
Not much, dude. I played ACC for about 40 hours or so, I also have around the same in AC, DiRT Rally 1 and 2.0, got about 80 hours in R3E, about 20 in PC2. Around 60 in TOCA 3. Same in RBR. I have *singnificantly* more hours in arcade racing games which I've been playing since the 90s, I think starting with Test Drive (1987). All the NFS until The Run. DiRT series since it was Colin McRae DiRT. The list goes on. In real life I did a fair bit of karting and also what we call University Rally in Brazil. It's a low entry barrier timed rally through much harsher terrain than speed rallies, requiring more planning and vehicle conservation than driver skill, so take it with a grain of salt lol.
@josh1234567892 Жыл бұрын
@@NutsEverywhere Hey, thanks for responding! And I see, your experience definitely shows. When I first started with sim racing, my initial gameplay consisted of me driving off track way too much. I ended up just messing around with BeamNG for a while just to get a bit comfortable with the wheel. Even now, when I'm learning a brand new track, I have a big tendency to push the car too hard... which is why your gameplay stood out to me haha. I personally don't have any IRL experience myself, other than driving to get to places. Anyway,. keep it up man. I'm sure you'll get even better as time goes on :)
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
People generally don't believe me when I say this, but I learned about grip, weight transfer and racing lines with Super Mario Kart on the SNES of all things. It was obviously wrong on many fronts but those aspects were surprisingly grounded in reality lol. I say that because I applied those concepts to real life karting when I first raced and they were spot on. My approach to learning a new track is to start slow to memorise the corners, then braking points, then gear usage and lastly track usage because every sim differs on this last one a bit. Only when I have those about 80% mentally mapped is when I start pushing for better times. It's still a difficult process to get it right, and the mental side is tricky. You want to race and be fast but in order to do that you have to calm down and be slow. Just remember it's a game and you're not in a professional racing setting with the team pressuring you to perform to keep your job. Slow and steady and you'll be fine.
@josh1234567892 Жыл бұрын
@@NutsEverywhere Haha, yeah I can see why that would be hard to believe. At the very least I can understand racing lines transferring to real racing. The concept of apexes and braking points are pretty much universal across all racing games. And you're right, slow and patient is definitely the right approach to learning new tracks. Like treating it as if you were driving a real car and really did not want to crash it (but yeah, not taking it TOO seriously). To be honest, I have some success learning new tracks by just playing with AI, and trying to follow them around the track. However, even then, some tracks are too tricky for me to do that. COTA and Brands Hatch are two that I'd probably put on that category. I'll give that a shot though, I still have plenty of tracks I haven't even touched yet on ACC and I think it's time to try a different approach. You're right about the mentality shift, that is probably what I struggle with the most. I appreciate all the advice!
@ettjaevlaliv Жыл бұрын
You are shifting way too fast for the mclaren. You want to rev it to 7500rpm before you shift optimally. That's why your acceleration is bad..

I'm breaking too early in many places, my track usage is abysmal, me footwork needs... work. There's a reason I was in the Rookie class' last split lol. It's only the second time I ever raced competitively online, first was iRacing MX-5 a few years ago, and I was a bit nervous. Practice makes perfect.

I started as a Rookie with 1500 Elo, went to Bronze + and 4 races later went down to Iron. I seems your license status can fluctuate quite a bit early on. Hopefully will settle down. I just need to stop worrying about Elo, which is now 852, and enjoy the races.
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
Yeah, people need to remember that you shouldn't worry about matching your performance against your ELO, but rather your ELO reflects your performance. Keep driving, practicing and improving and over time your ELO grows with you. Best tactic is to forget about it and focus on the races themselves.

Are LFM races cleaner in general?
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
Compared to public ACC lobbies? Absolutely. Compared to iRacing? Not really. I find people are much more aggressive in ACC and it's SO setup dependant you can end up as the slow guy on the track which in turn makes people angry. ACC is still my sim of choice because of the whole package of cost, graphics, sound, FFB and physics. It just feels better to me overall.
@Kpaxlol Жыл бұрын
Setup dependent, what do you mean by that? Cars or you mean wheelbase?
P4 is pretty good for a first lfm race I'm not sure how the skill level works on lfm was interesting to watch. I'd recommend looking at some track guides/hotlaps to understand the lines better as your never really using all of the track and there was a lot of points where you were taking an awkward or narrow line into turns while not defending, not sure if it was because of racing in your mirrors or not. Getting the proper brake, turn in and acceleration points down as well as using all the track you will easily gain a second or more
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
Agree on all fronts. Although I practiced quite a bit I didn't research much what other drivers do and went by instinct, the awkward lines are real. There's also the fact that I'm playing in a single screen that is a bit far away so visibility is limited. Thank you for the feedback!

Minimum of 80 where you get an LFM SR of 2.5 from the get go, or 95 to get a 3.5. Both put you in rookie but a 95 puts you closer to Iron at an SR of 4.0.
