P4 is pretty good for a first lfm race I'm not sure how the skill level works on lfm was interesting to watch. I'd recommend looking at some track guides/hotlaps to understand the lines better as your never really using all of the track and there was a lot of points where you were taking an awkward or narrow line into turns while not defending, not sure if it was because of racing in your mirrors or not. Getting the proper brake, turn in and acceleration points down as well as using all the track you will easily gain a second or more
@NutsEverywhere
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
Agree on all fronts. Although I practiced quite a bit I didn't research much what other drivers do and went by instinct, the awkward lines are real. There's also the fact that I'm playing in a single screen that is a bit far away so visibility is limited. Thank you for the feedback!

I started as a Rookie with 1500 Elo, went to Bronze + and 4 races later went down to Iron. I seems your license status can fluctuate quite a bit early on. Hopefully will settle down. I just need to stop worrying about Elo, which is now 852, and enjoy the races.
@NutsEverywhere

Yeah, people need to remember that you shouldn't worry about matching your performance against your ELO, but rather your ELO reflects your performance. Keep driving, practicing and improving and over time your ELO grows with you. Best tactic is to forget about it and focus on the races themselves.

@NutsEverywhere

You know, ACC is up there on my favourites and it's _incredibly_ fun, but there's something to be said about how dependant it is on car setups. It's a 2 or 3 second difference per lap from the aggressive default to paid ones. And then it highlights another problem, the monetisation of sim racing in general. Which is a topic for another time. If you're looking for fun, I can recommend you Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2, and Need for Speed Shift 1 or 2. Some people may disagree about Shift, it's not a sim, it's simcade, but god damn it's fun with a wheel. Oh, and Forza Horizon 4 or 5. Enjoy, and glad to have you here.

@NutsEverywhere
@NutsEverywhere 11 ай бұрын
From the main menu you go Multiplayer > Quickjoin (Public multiplayer). You will generally have a Monza race. I just checked and it's the Nurburgring now. It changes every race, and if you keep it clean and consistent your SA goes up. When it hits 80, you can register on LFM. You can also do races against AI at low difficulty and keep close to the one in front. It's a boring grind as you gain around 3 or 4 SA per race if you don't crash. I prefer the public multiplayer mode.

Sure! This is the JSON file pastebin.com/dpQMj19M. You can save the code as a file into C:\Users\{your_user}\Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\Customs\VideoSettings. Replace {your_user} with your windows username. The config will then be available within ACC, under the same name you saved, in Options > Video > Manage Custom Video Presets. I play in 1440p with vsync disabled for faster inputs. The overall settings are pretty low because I'm also recording and streaming from the same PC but as you can see it looks good enough. Not much, dude. I played ACC for about 40 hours or so, I also have around the same in AC, DiRT Rally 1 and 2.0, got about 80 hours in R3E, about 20 in PC2. Around 60 in TOCA 3. Same in RBR. I have *singnificantly* more hours in arcade racing games which I've been playing since the 90s, I think starting with Test Drive (1987). All the NFS until The Run. DiRT series since it was Colin McRae DiRT. The list goes on. In real life I did a fair bit of karting and also what we call University Rally in Brazil. It's a low entry barrier timed rally through much harsher terrain than speed rallies, requiring more planning and vehicle conservation than driver skill, so take it with a grain of salt lol.

@@NutsEverywhere Hey, thanks for responding! And I see, your experience definitely shows. When I first started with sim racing, my initial gameplay consisted of me driving off track way too much. I ended up just messing around with BeamNG for a while just to get a bit comfortable with the wheel. Even now, when I'm learning a brand new track, I have a big tendency to push the car too hard... which is why your gameplay stood out to me haha. I personally don't have any IRL experience myself, other than driving to get to places. Anyway,. keep it up man. I'm sure you'll get even better as time goes on :)
@NutsEverywhere
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
People generally don't believe me when I say this, but I learned about grip, weight transfer and racing lines with Super Mario Kart on the SNES of all things. It was obviously wrong on many fronts but those aspects were surprisingly grounded in reality lol. I say that because I applied those concepts to real life karting when I first raced and they were spot on. My approach to learning a new track is to start slow to memorise the corners, then braking points, then gear usage and lastly track usage because every sim differs on this last one a bit. Only when I have those about 80% mentally mapped is when I start pushing for better times. It's still a difficult process to get it right, and the mental side is tricky. You want to race and be fast but in order to do that you have to calm down and be slow. Just remember it's a game and you're not in a professional racing setting with the team pressuring you to perform to keep your job. Slow and steady and you'll be fine.
@josh1234567892
@josh1234567892 Жыл бұрын
@@NutsEverywhere Haha, yeah I can see why that would be hard to believe. At the very least I can understand racing lines transferring to real racing. The concept of apexes and braking points are pretty much universal across all racing games. And you're right, slow and patient is definitely the right approach to learning new tracks. Like treating it as if you were driving a real car and really did not want to crash it (but yeah, not taking it TOO seriously). To be honest, I have some success learning new tracks by just playing with AI, and trying to follow them around the track. However, even then, some tracks are too tricky for me to do that. COTA and Brands Hatch are two that I'd probably put on that category. I'll give that a shot though, I still have plenty of tracks I haven't even touched yet on ACC and I think it's time to try a different approach. You're right about the mentality shift, that is probably what I struggle with the most. I appreciate all the advice!

@halogynackf1584
@halogynackf1584 Жыл бұрын
First of all, very good P4 from you on debut! I'm an F1 Esports driver, so luckily for you I've suggested a few things to improve on for you: 1. Steering input - I noticed that you were steering quite a lot during corners, so I'd say steer to at least a 90° angle. That way, you will avoid less understeer (meaning less grip on the front due to too much steering input) and will get a better exit out of corners. You can go over that only if there are harder corners to take such as a hairpin. 2. Kerbs - In GT cars, they can handle plenty of corners on corner entries and exits (depending on the setup you use such a rebounds), so use them to gain extra time! Just be careful on how you take kerbs otherwise the car would become upset and go off only if you think it's necessary to take. 3. Acceleration and braking input - In order to take kerbs on exits, try accelerating earlier than usual. It will give you extra time to save without being affected by track limits! Again, don't go overboard with this or else the car will spin. It probably wouldn't matter in this game since it has TC and ABS. Hopefully this helps you improve! 👍🏻
@NutsEverywhere
@NutsEverywhere Жыл бұрын
@@halogynackf1584 First of all, thanks for taking the time to write your comment. Appreciate it! I'll address the points you made. 1 - True, understeer is an issue. I'm not sure if it's my car setup, tire pressure, the 900deg steering angle or any other factor. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it but I generally go over 90 deg, I should probably reduce steering angle. 2 - I'm VERY afraid or kerbs in ACC. I don't have that fear in Raceroom, but in ACC I had snap oversteer and spun out many, many times during practice, sometimes 3 or 4 times in a single lap, so I learned to avoid the hell out of them. I should revisit this and try to figure out what the problem is, maybe throttle input, maybe TCC. 3 - I mostly practiced my braking points before jumping into the race. I accelerate as soon as I feel like it's safe but I haven't gotten it down to a science yet. As you said, don't go overboard or the car will spin lol Again, thanks. It will help me improve, and good luck with your career!

Complementing @halogynackf1584. It's about breaking pressure. Try to break earlier but with less brake pressure on high speed corners. This way you will carry a nice speed into the corners and can get full throtle earlier as well. Use this technique with a little bit more trail braking and i'm sure you will improve. Also you can avoid getting "half gas" in the middle of corners. If you're feeling you need to do this, its probably you've should be carried more entry speed into the corner. Always get in the throtle fully, never half. Chears
