This is unacceptable for an owner to fix a trailer when the manufacturer failed in it's due diligence to make the trailer safe and free from defects. Do better Forest River and all rv manufacturers.

If you want to throw money away, buy an RV. It will depreciate 50-60% the first year, it will spend most of the time in a shop where nothing is ever under warranty, and when you use it something always goes wrong. RV stands for Ruined Vacation

Hi John - I just completed all of the steps in your video, with the exception of blowing out the lines with an air compressor. Since all the lines now have antifreeze in them, can this step be skipped? I don't have an air compressor. We live in Oklahoma, so we usually get a few days of 0-10 degrees F, and rarely an extreme of -10 degrees F (once or twice a winter). Thanks.
@JohnMarucci3 күн бұрын
You should be ok, as long as you are getting RV antifreeze out of all the faucets, including any outside shower or quick connect.

Can I ask you what you recommend to boost Wi-Fi or cellular signal so our Roku can connect? Thanks!
@JohnMarucci3 күн бұрын
I have used a WeBoost with some success. You do need at least some cell signal to boost, so it doesn't do much where there is very little cell signal. Otherwise, it is upgrading to Starlink, if you camp remotely. Thanks!
@Fiskurjoe3 күн бұрын
@ thank you. Will WeBoost also bump up Wi-Fi signal? Or just cellular?
@Fiskurjoe4 күн бұрын
Thanks John. Excess moisture in camper during winter has been a problem for us.

Mine doesn’t have any issues working. You do have to go through the set up process and must have the headlights on for the camera to work.

First off, thank you SO much for producing this video. Your step-by-step guide is excellent. Been chasing the strong same smell for the last several trips. Just removed our 300 prior to seeing this video and low and behold, the gap between the two bowls is FULL of stinky sewage. It is completely unconscionable that Dometic has produced such a piece of garbage that would allow leakage like this. Indicative of the RV industry as a whole.
@JohnMarucci3 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right, Dometic should have designed a better seal. It is a tragedy that they produced these for so long. This product about ruined a longer trip a while back. The solution as presented has help up for the long-haul. All the best!

Thanks for the video! I'd like to add a few suggestions too. Tape: I carry Rescue tape- a silicon variety that sticks to itself.- Great for electrical and temp plumbing repairs.- It works wet or dry. Gorilla tape- good for patching and repairing most anything. Eternabond tape- not used yet, thankfully but there if I need it. In over 20 years I've never used any Pex clamps or hose. The most I've ever done is tighten fittings. That huge carpenter's level- I never carried or needed one. In addition to Teflon tape I carry plumber's grease.- Great for lubing hose washers and toilet ball seals. A collapsable bucket- saves space and a little lighter too. Micro fiber towels? I have one large one and that's it. I have old cotton ones that I prefer. Very absorbent. You should carry a meter. I use a Harbor Freight one that I like but there are infinite choices. I carry a fuse and electrical connector assortment along with crimpers, strippers, and heat shrink in a small 12" tool box. I carry that box from site to site when I repair people's rigs.- This is by far the most common type of repairs I do. Next most common are minor plumbing leaks and I have another very small box for those things too. I only carry some smaller hose clamps, Teflon tape, plumber's grease, hose washers and a few plastic 90 degree fittings for city water connections. I have a box of common fasteners but have never used them much on the road.- At home I use them more. I also have a small spray can of Deoxit 5 for trailer and other electrical plugs. Not really a tool but I use a 50 to 30 dog bone adapter as I've found most parks have very poor 30A. receptacles. It's served me well for years in preventing tripped campground and rv main breakers. Keep up the great work and thanks again!

My pump didn’t suck anything. 2014 Forest River Wildwood . Tried several times no suction any suggestions?
@JohnMarucci3 күн бұрын
I sometimes have to prime it with some RV antifreeze in the tube then insert the tube into the bottle. If this doesn't work, it sounds like the pump itself isn't creating enough suction.

Is the storage area leak common on all models? I picked up a 196 yesterday amd will check for leaks. Sounds like a good idea might be to just remove the vinyl flooring just to keep an eye on the area.
@JohnMarucci3 күн бұрын
It isn't common necessarily. These smaller 2017s seemed to have a front separation issue with the rails that caused this.

Thanks for the excellent how to video. I have a Keystone/Fuzion 5th wheel RV. As you indicated, Keystone failed to provide easy access for maintenance on the furnace. I only wish it had the access your RV has. It's an absolute nightmare getting to the furnace in mine. You need to be a contortionist to get to the furnace in my RV.

I’d be wary of buy new without an independent inspection as I’m not convinced quality is where it should be. Don’t look past quality used units that are well maintained.

So I don't need to turn the hot and cold water valves at all? Just the bypass valve?
@JohnMarucci16 күн бұрын
You do need to bypass the hot water heater. Some have one valve like mine and other RVs two valves at the hot water heater. Make sure these are set to bypass the heater. If you do have two valves, the process is shown in my R-Pod winterization video. I also may have misread your question. If so, please let me know. Here is the link to the R-Pod winterization video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2iWoK2vgKaWp80si=NDMZ4d-uzLQ0Q1p7

Thank you for this! I do have a question about the Hot Faucet knobs. I couldn’t get anything to run out of the hot faucet on the kitchen sink or the bathroom sinks. Cold faucets were fine. I would think that is fine because we disabled the water heater line, but you show pink antifreeze flowing in the hot water faucets. Did I do something wrong? Is it going to be ok?
@AdventureDerrick17 күн бұрын
BTW ours is a RPod 178.
@JohnMarucci16 күн бұрын
Are you absolutely sure you bypassed the hot water heater? If not, you will be filling up the hot water tank. You certainly should get antifreeze from both hot and cold taps.

I was just at the Coachman Factory in Middlebury, Indiana on November 5th. It was as busy as it can be. #1 is the B Van, building them like crazy. Check the prices of the Winnebago Travato vs the Coachman Nova. Travato is about 20-25% higher with a poorer quality. Winner - Coachman.

An RV owner is only “Burnt” if they have an RV that they don’t like, want to end RVing or can’t afford the RV they own.. If you like your current RV, can afford the payments if you have a payment and want to continue traveling in your RV then who really cares about the value of used RVs?
@JohnMarucci18 күн бұрын
Hmm, so if your city rezones land next to your neighborhood to commercial use and business or services move in that lower your house value, you’re good with that? If a company or industry works in a way that their actions accelerate the depreciation expense on an asset I own, it does in fact cause unnecessary economic injury. As I see it, your argument only makes sense if you plan to never enter the secondary market (ride your value to zero). I enjoy a good economic debate, so feel free to interject. Thanks!
