I have an Attwood GE16EXT combo GAS/Electric water heater. I believe there is a design problem on the controller board that causes infant mortality (some might call it a retroactive abortion) of the PCB's transistor that sends 12VDC to energize the Relay mounted behind the heater that sends 120VAC to the heating element. I have had to replace the potted controller TWICE in a 3-year period because the yellow wire was not getting energized. Otherwise, a $0.25 transistor is all that would be necessary. The Propane portion of the heater was working. It is good engineering practice to add a DIODE (1N4001) to clamp the back EMF produced when the relay is deenergized. I soldered the Cathode to the yellow wire and the Anode to the Green wire in position #6 of the connector. This way the new controller's transistor will not be damaged in the future. The PCB's relay that sends power to the Gas Valve may very well have a similar issue but there is no way to add a protection diode due to the potting compound.

Currently running a Freedom Express 192rbs. Many features/layouts mirror your unit closely. First time I had issues with my furnace not lighting this video solved the issue. This year I was not successful even with replacing the existing sail switch. Do you have any suggestions on the next thing to troubleshoot? Love your channel and appreciate your monthly updates on the industry.

You're going to want to look at the tow ratings for each vehicle to see if you're within the recommended range. I am not familiar enough with the other vehicles to give an informed opinion.

We were just there today. Super nice park with a good trail next to the river. Small building with historical info and visitor log. Its amazing to me how this natural "drain" at the end of the river is exactly the right size to accommodate the amount of water flow. Also enjoyed the small rapids. The kids liked the playground.

II lived right next to this campground for one year while teaching at Sneads High School. I rented a cabin on Lake Seminole near the bridge. My landlords were the nicest people and they raised quail. I’ll be checking the outriggers when I get back to our property. In your blog concerning Outriggers (Nov 2021), you described the construction of the RP floors. Our floor between the sink and bathroom is soft due to moisture. I’ll no doubt will have to replace it. If you have any info to share…I’d appreciate it.

Some class B and C manufacturers do meet the requirements such as Ford. The Tilton Hilton Motorhomes do not have many other vehicles in production that meet the requirements. Frieghtliner and other large truck manufacturers don’t. So this is where the class A folks don’t have a work through for the requirements.

I disagree with your RVIA assessment. Why does RVIA address exemptions instead of providing a clear path to compliance? The RV motorized chassis industry knew this was coming way before the final 2021 CARB rule. RVIA and the chassis manufacturers stuck their heads in the sand. The eSprinter is available, Rivian’s eVan is in production, EV busses are on the road, and we passed several Tesla large tractors. When will RVIA get out in front of this issue with innovation. New trailers are going all electric and designed for EV towing. This is a time when US RVing needs to downsize to become similar to Europe. The large traditional design Class A confirms that dinosaurs still roam the earth.
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci 29 күн бұрын
I think there is a philisohical issue undergirding your comments I generally disagree with. The assumption I question is do we even need to move to electrics with RVs at all? CARB's premise can and has been questioned by others. Should a small body of people with similar leanings be allowed to make rules that impact the entire country? Even if we agree on the actual need to curtail emmisions over all, then why focus on such a small contributor. The issue is also global and it has and can be argued that we only penalize ourselves (in-country industry & and subsequent employment) when there are bad actors elsewhere uncompliant. As far as becoming like Europe, I'm pretty sure most people don't want to in most ways, including curtailing personal choice in recreational modes.

Theyll probably ban travel trailers because they're towed by 3500 and f350 1 ton pickups, they're going after 1978 or older classic cars, they will ban tractor trailer rigs unless they electric. Many people who come up with these laws will never buy a $300000 0r $400000 motorhome

Yep, just saw that. Looks like they are delaying a year. There is RV production in Oregon (at least there was), so it isn't surprising that they would pause. We should question experts for real provable data for what seems to be "maybe happening future events" before we loose what is a sure thing in killing production (& jobs) now.

To me, I would think just getting the water out of the lines and the tanks and putting a little antifreeze in the p-traps would be sufficient, especially in my area. I'm not sure why you need the antifreeze in all the lines? I'm not in the Midwest, I'm in the west where the lows are around 30.

Some unaswered questions you may want to add to your document: 1. Should I close the low point drains on the tank water heater, or leave them open? 2. After antifreeze has been run to all the faucets, shower, etc., do I remove the bypass on the hot water heater, or leave it bypased? 3. Is it OK to leave the anode rod hole uncovered/removed, or should I re-install the anode rod once it is fully drained?
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci 29 күн бұрын
1. You should close the low point drains after testing for RV antifreeze and leave them closed. 2. Leave the water heater bypassed off-season. Unbypass in the Spring when you dewinterize the rig. 3. I ususally reinstall the anode rod after the process, (if I have one in my tank). Thanks!

Take note of the anti rv trolls here bty. It's like the way government handled covid. They made-up science as they went. And they learned a great deal. That a good number of sheep bought into the misinformation hook, line and sinker. "To the point where they ""chastised"" those who didn't want to comply". Those people needed to be punished or told they were bad for not believing government always. Now it's carb edicts. Question their science and you might need to be muzzled for so-called disinformation. I don't trust carb or those making up climate rules "as they go". Not one bit. The end game is getting permission from the gov to travel anywhere and taking over all transportation of good/services. This is pure insanity as the power grid will never be able to handle such a load.

I pretty much fully agree with what you stated. I have a real problem with CARB (or California in general) creating regulations that effect other states detrimentally. Questing the premise of why CARB is doing what they are doing. Too much power in too few similarly minded people. I have a real problem with a dication on other states and crushing of industry. I don't think it will work out by itself. It will mean real working people being laid off outside of California for something that has very little impact on emmisions.

*My feedback: RV dealers in any one of those states, MOVE YOUR BUSINESS to a RED STATE!! Other businesses should follow suit too!! These crazy liberal states are going WAY to FAR!! Give it Up!! If consumers want electric vehicles, let the market work. The other solution is to FLOOD those states with "gently used" motorhomes with 7501 miles. Dealers that wish to stay put will now sell ONLY USED. Which isn't a bad way to go anyhow. The other solution is for citizens to vote RED all the time, everywhere!!!*

Solution to the CARB debacle is rather predictable. Buy the new RV in Wyoming or any other non-CARB State. Of course, it has to be registered, but if California (and others) won't register, you have to register it somewhere. A relative's home in another State? The classic LLC in Montana? California can hardly prosecute you (they may try...but) for failing to register when they wouldn't register in the first place or if prevailed in the lawsuit. And then, of course, sales tax goes to where it is registered, which they won't register - another short-sighted hit.
