River dolphins aren't actually dolphins. They are whales with the word dolphin in their name, and they are more closely related to belugas, narwhals, and porpoises than to true dolphins.

Hello @Mikoljii, although you haven't been active on YT for quite some time, I hope this will find you since I've to a question regarding this fascinating environment. I am currently attempting to set up a larger biotope tank, themed around the Raudales de Atures and L 128/Blue Phantom Plecos. I am planning on only introducing truely sympatric species - but so far, my research only came down two anostomids, Synaptolaeptomus latofasciatus and Anostomus ternetzi. From your visit: Can you recall other, smaller to medium sized species (maxing out at 6"/15cm) sharing the very same habitat - which may also be somewhat available in the aquarium trade? No matter if you read this or not, I want to thank you for the valuable insights you're sharing in this video! Cheers

Definitely! But I'm working hard on my book series right now. Next book (and probably more content) will be on aquatic flora of the Orinoco.

I'll bet Venezuela is nice now that they sent all of the dregs of their society up here to the U.S. Enjoy it while you can because next year we're sending all of them back one way or the other.

@@Mikolji Hmm, I have a feeling that I asked the same question before...sorry if I repeated it, I forget. I like to watch this video and lost count already. All of the best Ivan. How is George doing? I saw a freshwater crab once, it was kind of orange and blue, but it went into it's hole and I never saw it again, and nobody believed me because no one has ever seen one. 😂

This video is showing all of the habitats in pristine condition.. That is not the case in most of the world.. I'm pretty sure that most of the river systems in south america are also quite polluted.. My africans are better off in my tank than they are in the filthy lakes they come from.. Great footage ,great video. Thank you very much uploader. How old is this video footage?

Watching this video gave me reasons why we have to do certain tasks to keep and breed our aquarium fish. Magnificent work! Thank you for you time and effort.
