Having looked at your "plans" I can only conclude you are addressing problems that don't exist with solutions that will actually create your imagined problems that you think you are trying to solve. You plan on marking the parking bays even though there has never been an issue with parking in the village and your plans would actually reduce the number of available spaces. This would force drivers to either park up in the GAA field and walk along the busy R700 road, park in a more dangerous manner (double parking or stopping in inappropriate places) which itself would increase the risk of RTCs or the drivers visiting the village would simply not bother stopping at all. You want to install not one but THREE pedestrian crossings to increase road safety even though no local can remember a vehicle / pedestrian collision. Now I can agree that ONE crossing MAY be beneficial but three would simply slow the traffic flow down far too much. Your end shot is of the car park in Thomastown, a town already blighted by your "plans" and which all the locals there I have spoken to dislike your work for a variety of reasons. We in Inistioge do not want your 'ensuring all our budget is spent' resulting in our beautiful and unique village ending up as no more than the generic dross you envision for all the county's towns and villages, how about spending your tax payer funds on something more beneficial like addressing the utterly appalling and downright dangerous state of the roads?

Why are all the housing estates in Kilkenny cut of one for another ?if you have to visit a person in the estate along side you're estate you have to get your car's and drive it could be a KLM or more just because no road join them just the road around them that makes no sense, the blame is planning officer of the county I think all estate should have to road thrue one to another

When you look at the county offices all you can see is a lot of parked cars so why don't the council worker's ride bicycle's to work like ye want the people of Kilkenny to do that have to live outside of town because old house and tree's have pryortehy over people and new buildings
@francisjamesbrennan2034 Жыл бұрын
Climate action what does it mean I,e build on the outer part of town and plant trees in town and I know you have a good excuse I,e people need park's? the town plenty,if the problem is the use of car's well building out of town is not the answer the ground under your feet is a good place to start build a apartment blocks of 5 to 6 floors and then you have many fomaleys who don't need car's and that's a good place to start!! that would be to easy for the Kilkenny co co the same with the abbey quart a building of just 2 floor's in the centre of town what a waste of money and ground you would see bigger in a small village waste all over the city Kilkenny co co

This video is PR lipservice. You do NOT want to work with the villagers. You KNOW the villagers are opposed to these developments. Three village representatives had a meeting with you. You told them there were very few objections. The representatives asked to see their names on your objection list, 2 out of the 3 were not even on there. Your reply 'they must have have got lost in the system' How many other objections were lost? The representatives also showed you their local petition AGAINST your proposals, this had over 600 signatures. Your reply 'Well we're going to do it' This video is a waste of taxpayers money, in response to their opposition and worse, PURE LIES. A new objection survey needs to be carried out, one that is fair and actually works, and not held during a pandemic

What about all the chemicals in the public water in Kilkenny including chlorine and fluoride along with all the corrosion inhibitors there water authorities put in the water,do they help with this healthy soup? And if the veg has been produced with chemicals like most are in Ireland how does all this make for a healthy meal in your opinion Ellen Roche?

His Excellency’s words are greatly welcomed. Especially, I like where he speaks of - “The initiative aims to help us all to combat so-called ‘lockdown fatigue’ by encouraging us to reacquaint ourselves with the wonders of literature, and the pleasures of reading, to take time to sit and enjoy a book, or perhaps a poem, a newspaper, a magazine or comic” and in particular -“or whatever it is the eyes might fall upon.” The Chinese Taoist philosopher, Zhuangzi 莊子 (350 BC-250 BC) was asked: “What is meant by the true person?” And he answered as follows: 何謂真人?古之真人,不逆寡,不雄成,不謨士。若然者,過而弗悔,當而不自得也。若然者,登高不慄,入水不濡,入火不熱。是知之能登假於道也若此。 “The true people of old did not reject (the views of) the few; they did not seek to accomplish (their ends) like heroes (before others); they did not lay plans to attain those ends. Being such, though they might make mistakes, they had no occasion for repentance; though they might succeed, they had no self-complacency. Being such, they could ascend the loftiest heights without fear; they could pass through water without being made wet by it; they could go into fire without being burnt; so it was that by their knowledge they ascended to and reached the Dao.” In the 1968 musical drama film ‘Oliver Twist’ the question in a song is asked: “Who will buy my sweet red roses? . . . There must be someone who will buy.” The Lebanese poet-philosopher, Gibran Khalil Gibran in his work, ‘The Garden of the Prophet’ presents the following: “Behold, there was a man standing at the cross-roads with hands stretched forth unto the passers-by, and his hands were filled with jewels. And he called upon the passers-by, saying: ‘Pity me, and take from me. In God’s name, take out of my hands and console me.’ But the passers-by only looked upon him, and none took out of his hand. Would rather that he were a beggar stretching forth his hand to receive - ay, a shivering hand, and brought back empty to his bosom - than to stretch it forth full of rich gifts and find none to receive.” And Jesus of Galilee had this to say: “To what shall I compare this generation? It is like little children sitting in the market places, who call to the others, and say ‘We piped the flute for you [playing wedding], and you did not dance; we wailed sad dirges [playing funeral], and you did not mourn and cry aloud.’” Mt. 16-17 I would like to extend an invitation to my fellow Irish readers to go on a digital reading excursion into the world of the author hermits of this green desert island we call home. Who are these people? They are writers rejected by mainstream and traditional publishers; by newspapers, radio stations, television channels and social-media platforms; rejected primarily on the grounds that their writings have little or no commercial value. There must surely be many such hermits who have for years been conscientiously perfecting their gifted craft; making every effort to create works that will reflect their particular take on reality. These are the outsiders within. Readers, you will always have the popular staple diet of books; will always have the consensus of the majority classics but when will you ever make - if not now - the opportunity to read the writings of your own green desert hermits? Those writers who have been outcast; those courageous few who have been banished and sacrificed to the oldest trick in the book, namely the running down of the clock. Perhaps at times they feel very much like Zhuangzi, the Oliver Twist singer, Gibran and Jesus. Save for the Google Play Store the writings of these hermits would be all but forgotten and you would never have the opportunity to appreciate them. Now however they are available as affordable ebooks in some 70 countries around the world. Global readers purchase these based on the sincerity of the writer and wholly decide for themselves the merit of the works. Finding them worthy they gladly recommend them along. This is the 21st century way of Planet Reads. And to conclude with His Excellency’s fine philosophical words: “Books are . . . a portal into a wider universe and the beginning of an enriching and creative journey that will transport us . . . to new places, introduce us to new experiences that enable us to experience, engage with and change the world.”

My husband is a man after your own heart, he's not good on the computer but any time he sees the old blacksmith gates coming off anywhere he always tries to buy them to save them. We built a new house 10 years ago in the old farmhouse style and he salvaged 2 old field gates off a local estate before it was turned into a caravan park and we now have them, one as an entrance gate and one going up into the field in front of the house. He saved 2 the other day, they close together, he has yet to restore them. We are from the North, Ballycastle
