for some reason, my single crochet keeps separating from my chain stitch. any clue why this is happening?

How does everyone find time to crochet with toddler and 12 mth old roaming 😂 my plan when my daughter turned 18 was to crochet an road trip but the lord had bigger plans for us now we have been foster parents for 2 years now we’re adopting our foster babies. I haven’t crocheted since we got our 3 yr when he was 14 mths old and we got our 12 mth old when she was 2 days old. I miss it. I showed my eldest bonus grand daughter (taught her) to crochet! She is so amazing and doing so good. Makes me wish I could find the time and not have my yarn assessable for them baby an toddler to accidentally wrap them self in it! I don’t mind the mess of the yarn but my fear I will turn for a second and they find some I didn’t put up high enough

hi! I noticed when making the fins and tail, you crocheted stitches into only half of the chain stitches instead of both loops. Should I only put my hook through one loop of a chain stitch while crocheting the fins and tail or both? Thanks!
