Thank you so much for this tutorial… Im new to crocheting and I stared crocheting waffles a few nights before my mom passed away. It was hard but I decided to finish him and stitch a heart with her ashes up inside…. I don’t know if that’s weird or not but it brings me comfort in the worst time of my life…. My mom was so proud of my crocheting and she was so impressed watching me start to crochet waffles…a very special memory I will treasure forever.

This is an excellent tutorial. I've seen far too many creators erroneously referring to rounds as rows. That only confuses beginners. Also kudos to you for showing people to turn the item on itself when it starts to bowl, so the right side of the stitches are facing out. That's another step that I see omitted time & time again.

I wish this was a little slower and better explained around row three. I was following pretty well up until then. I’m a total beginner at not just crochet animals but also using patterns at all- previously I’ve only made simple scarves so I didn’t need any patterns. I was not able to understand what you were doing at that point and rewatched it several times and tried a bunch of different things that I thought you might’ve meant but they all seemed wrong so I gave up :(
@littleworldofwhimsy10 ай бұрын
Hi there, I'm sorry you were having trouble with this project. If you're a total beginner it sounds like this might not be the best project for you. I always recommend complete beginners start with this project: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oorXnJispb53atE. I would recommend Waffle the Bear as a good second or third amigurumi project after learning the basics. If you're having trouble reading patterns you can read my blog post here: littleworldofwhimsy.com/how-to-read-amigurumi-crochet-patterns-complete-guide/. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Hey there, I had the same issue too I just decided on a whim that I was gonna try crocheting and I was really lost at the 3rd row too.Cause I didn't know what an increase was. (I'm just assuming you had the same issue) After restarting an embarrassing amount of times. I heard somewhere later in the video that an increase is doing a single stitch in the same loop.. so instead of doing a single stich and moving to the next one just do another single stitch in the same... uh hole? I'm not sure if you've attempted this project again but I hope you get to make waffles the bear soon! Or I guess if you made him already that you have an adorable waffles!
@bleepbloopbleep6716 ай бұрын
@@littleworldofwhimsy hey i got really confused on this row too, but I'm not a beginner. i know what an increase was but the way you explained what to do confused me. was it 3sc in one stitch and then an increase in the next stitch or 3c and an inc in the same stitch?
@littleworldofwhimsy6 ай бұрын
@@bleepbloopbleep671 hi! thanks for commenting and asking for clarification - I rewatched the section and realized that I made a mistake the first time I described the instructions! The first time I described the instructions for rnd 3, I said that you should work 3 scs, and then an increase a total of 4 times. This is INCORRECT. I correct myself later - you should repeat (3 sc, inc) a total of SIX times (as written in the pattern on screen). Apart from this error, to try to clear a few things up: 1. An increase for amigurumi is always two single crochet stitches worked into the same stitch (or hole). 2. For round 3, the pattern states to work 3 single crochet stitches (one in each stitch), and then an increase (2 in one stitch). Then, you should do all those steps 6 times total. If I wrote it out, it would look like this: sc, sc, sc, inc, sc, sc, sc, inc, sc, sc, sc, inc, sc, sc, sc, inc, sc, sc, sc, inc, sc, sc, sc, inc. (You can probably see why we use a notation to make it easier!). If this step specifically is confusing you, you should check out some basics on how to read amigurumi patterns: littleworldofwhimsy.com/how-to-read-amigurumi-crochet-patterns-complete-guide/. Given my mistake in speaking, some people may have been confused that what I said didn't line up with what was written on screen, or maybe there was further confusion with how to read crochet patterns. If you have more follow up questions on round 3 feel free to comment below and I'll try to clarify!

Do you have tips to get even stitches and even rows? Whenever I crochet my amigurumi dolls, the my rows look slanted-if that makes any sense. My rows aren’t lined up perfectly and symmetrical like yours. How do I fix that?
@littleworldofwhimsy6 ай бұрын
hi! hmm.. there's a chance part of is it that I'm using the "x stitch" variation of the single crochet. Here's a video describing it more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5fUq3apqNmDlbs. I'm not sure whether it would result in less slanted rows, but it changes the shape from sideways leaning "v"s to slightly sideways leaning "x"s. Take a look at the video and let me know whether that helps answer some questions. Otherwise, it might just be because your tension is not completely even (something that comes with practice). It's hard to tell without seeing, so if you want to send me a picture to @littleworldofwhimsy on IG I can probably help more!
