Just a rough price but how much is the s4x without electrical? I've got a new dmax with a tub so I'm going to have to fit a tray. Does Tommy supply the trays for them do you know? Thanks
@SlideOnCampingAustralia4 күн бұрын
They do make custom trays. My tray is just a cheap off the shelf tray. The bear canopy is just over the 20k mark. Contact TC for a free quote if you want an accurate estimate.

The rust looks like it's confined to the doors, presumably because they're not electrically connected to the rest of the body. If that's what's going on, the solution would be to install ground straps between the doors and body. If the whole truck was unprotected, what do you think the odds are that the first rust to show up would be around the door windows? Not exactly the most rust-prone area. So yeah, it's unfortunate, but a good lesson for installers, ground those doors.

Would you advise against sleeping with the canopy doors shut? If so, what would you personally do to make it work? I'm looking at living in my ute for a while to save money. Any tips would be much appreciated

Thanks for your vids. Great reality check for me. Why the bolts into the tray Wayne? Have read it's better to attach camper to the chassis? Is that true?
@SlideOnCampingAustralia2 ай бұрын
I’ve only had bolts or clamps to tray. If the camper is purpose built and permanent it could go straight onto the chassis. Not so much if it’s a slide on.

Interesting, I note one of your answers re weight was 3400 kg, is that fully loaded with full tanks etc. I’ve been quoted on an upgrade of gvm to 3670 , doesn’t leave much leeway, is that enough ?? Also are they still in business, I’ve been unable to contact them.

China. China. China. China. China. Everything is made is China. Brand differentiation is dead. Supervision and QC in China is everything. If you don't force the Chinese factory to build sh!t properly, it'll be average.

The Garmin Overlander is a $1000 brick. The mapping detail is severely lacking in comparison to detailed Hema Map Packs. Anyone who has both units knows this. Most tracks are not labelled. All you see is a dotted black line to show a fire trail of some sort. Most camp sites are not marked on the map. Total waste of money.

Hi Wayne, what is the actual standing space from the end of the bed to the back of the canopy? About 1200mm?

After Living with my Engel 90 litre for two years, I will 100% back up your advice. I bought Engel as their name in the Ozzy Outback is pristine. I am completely of the opposite opinion, having had this noisy, leaky, under lit, piece of junk. Sorry Engel, this absolutely is not worth the high price I paid for it. Good work Wayne.

Hy Wayne - very good and informative - Question: can I download the Hema maps I have purchased and which are on my phone onto the Overlander? It seems not although in the beginning of the video you very quickly refer to Hema maps and at that point I thought they are pre-installed which however is contrasting with your comments at the end re the iPad etc. thanks for a hint - Marc

It’s been a few years since I got mine. I’m fairly confident I downloaded after connecting / pairing to my computer.
