Real overland travellers have the best tips. Thanks Wayne. I'm so glad you didn't mention the Travel Buddy. My favourite waste of space I see in set-ups. Cheers Marty from Perth

Hey Wayne, I like your soapy water idea. Do you stick to a particular detergent to water ratio? Or just throw a squirt in the bottle?

Just a guess.

Great video's and thanks for sharing your setup tips and tricks. Nice setup with just what you need and a milk crate is a must for some of us. I question about crossing the Simpson, would a standard Dual cab 4 x 4 do it ok or what mods would be needed ?
@SlideOnCampingAustralia2 жыл бұрын
Main mods, increase tire size to aid with the soft sand and corrosions. A long range fuel tank helps. Apart from that, just needs to be in good condition and reliable.

Many have completed it in a standard 4wd vehicle

Hello Wayne! I greatly enjoy your videos! Thank you so much! I have a new D-Max on order, should get it in November. Now I have read about the Bannister Law class action being prepared against Isuzu regarding the cracking in engine bay. Apparently Isuzu Ute blames bullbar plus winch (the weight) and corrugated roads for this, another part of the class action is the DPF. You have loaded your D-Max up and driven to more remote places than most will. Have you had any signs of cracking in the engine bay (around suspension towers)? Or has this whole thing been blown out of proportion in the typical way the internet does?
@SlideOnCampingAustralia2 жыл бұрын
I personally haven’t found any cracks yet. ‘Out of proportion’ the amount in the class action show give light to this question. How many are there? I’ve seen the pictures and the cracks seem to be in very unusual places. I’m confused but watching.
@silkeandtorsten2 жыл бұрын
Great that you have not seen any in your rig! I spoke to the ARB guy here in Hobart about the wisdom of adding weight to front, winch and bar. He assured me, that the cracks were only in very few vehicles and that those vehicles were modded with much bigger lifts and tyres and that this was the reason for cracks. He also assured me that the suspension/lift upgrades (mine will be same as yours) would lead to a smoother ride and that the danger of cracks was negligible. That was before I heard about the class action. I have contacted my local dealer and Isuzu Ute directly to ask specifically about the usability of the new D-Max fitted with bar, winch and GVM upgrade on corrugated roads. If/when I hear anything I will let you know.

With your gas cooker have you used cookers with the gas bottles (like bbq gas bottles) ? And your thoughts. I have 2 cookers with the gas cans (slightly different gas cans than in the video) im finding they don't last long I'm thinking going to a gas bottle cookers soon
@SlideOnCampingAustralia2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t used the gas bottles for 2 years. Much easier to travel with the smaller ones
