Good to see some young blood coming to the salt. Seems like you need an AFR gauge or EGT gauge to know if it's lean but at least you made some passes & everything stayed inside the engine. I turned up with a new AA/BFS & had a fuel vapor explosion at the start line on Saturday then came home.

The key was necessary only to lock the ignition. GM used that system for many years.

The switch has has start/on, off and lock. In the fifty’s most didn’t bother with keys. The only time they locked the house was when you were on vacation. 55 and 56 (I can’t recall if 57 was the same even though I owned one) but my 58 had the same switch.

Start thinking outside the box! See this is where you start learning to become a fabricator, then she to steel probably 16th of an inch thick a drill and a cut off wheel and you can make a whole new bracket to move that solenoid and you would be under $35!

OK, why not make a new bracket for your solenoid? You could've saved yourself about 250 bucks! You basically have the same thing already in there that has a coil built-in, your trading out for a distributor that has no coil built-in into it and now you have to mount coil on the firewall Plus wire it! That's a lot of work just because the solenoids in the way that could easily be moved! You know you can clock that nitrous plate that sits under your carburetor! Hei distributor once you Lock out the time in advance it does the same thing is that msd distributor! That's just a lot of work and Money because a solenoid is in your way!

Really cool 55 Chevy. That car looks really soild and complete. I would just do floor pans and patch the rocker. 4 speed will certainly make it fun but you will need the hurst bench seat Shifter to clear the seat. Cool video Man.

From a safety point of view, the 32 had the fuel tank in the rear, with a fuel pump. This was far better than model A cowl mounted tank with gravity feed.

It's a matter of preference. Both are classics. The 32 is more advanced, with more hp, but both are in many áreas quite similar.
