love the walls idea so far, very bronze age village kingdom vibe, its what kingdoms looked like before thick stone walls were mandatory due to improving siege and attack tactics and technology

i always wished roads were a thing that upgraded through the ages, maybe make the first age auto generate 'worn paths' just wherever the npcs mostly travel back and forth itll make a patted down ground and then you could build dedicated roads for each age afterwards

Those are three good looking maps. I guess it depends on how you plan to meet the challenge. With the first map you would have lots of small “villages” spread out everywhere until you get explosives to terraform everything. The third map has a really good plateau to build on and you can build up your population that way. If I was doing the 1000 population challenge. I would choose the third map and you could build up some great housing blocks with the space.

5:30 the reason its not closing is because of the damns you have for the water to exit. they let water leave if the water level is above 0.67 (assuming a depth of 1 tile)

A sad end for the beavers but a very interesting experiment. What is the aim for the next experiment? Maybe seeing how large a population you can maintain? 1000 beavers?

Just remember if you’re playing as the iron teeth, the bad water dome is your friend. You can use it to keep the bad water flowing even in the dry season and thus have a steady source of power all of the time.

Make sure you go to Standing Orders under labour and then Kitchen, and turn off cooking for plump helmets otherwise you'll run out of seeds. Also go to Chores and set it so children don't do chores, that way your children don't grow up with issues.

8:19 for the well you are digging, you can use bridges. If you place some bridges (in fact 1 bridge in the middle will work). Then the beavers can place dynamite underneath them and off the sides while standing on the bridge. No need for fiddly stairs and platforms

I believe the recreation areas are only used during the beavers off hours before they sleep, so if they are too far from their berths then they won't use them( except the kids who don't work) as they won't have time to sleep after work. The large water wheels operate with the best power output between a water depth of 1 and 2 so I'd have placed the sluice waterfall 1 block higher, in addition, add water to the water wheels at a depth of 2 and eject it off the map at a height of 1( or around there accounting for drop through the wheels). For best water spread and evaporation you do want all rivers and ponds to be 3 wide or 3x3 squares, aye. Any depth is fine, only the surface area is use to calculate evaporation and water spread through the ground. I didn't see any hauling posts, but your colony is still quite small for the number of buildings you have to staff and this was my first episode of this series. They are helpful due to carrying twice the quantity of items around and you can click the "prioritize by haulers" on priority buildings to keep the beavers working in the buildings instead of stopping between jobs to move the produced items to the nearest storage. Looking forward to more. Best of luck on this smallest map at the difficulty you've set.

2 Tips for what you're doing: 1. If you want to have a little water area to greenify the surrounding area, you should make it 3x3 (so the water area is 3x3) because the water mechanics were changed in a way so that more blocks of water in a line have a bigger range for greenifying the surroundings (maxed out at 3 in a line, thus the 3x3 water area). 2. You can put those suspension bridges over the wheels, you just need to plan a little with that (so that you have 2 platforms next to the wheel and then put the suspension bridge piece on the closer platform and that will allow you to bridge the gap). That way you can make a walk way above those Water Wheels and get down on the other side by repeating that pattern.

doing good till now... A Suggestion.. if you put down flood gates (2 tall)in front of the water source blocks and levis at the side 2 Block high, then you can divert the badwater at the source.. 2nd Suggestion is use the bad water source to run the Water wheels for the industries..

23:06 yes you can build on top of sluice gates. However don’t have a 1x1 water tower. They changed the evaporation mechanics so 1x1 will evaporate more quickly. Incidentally 1x1 will also irrigate less area. You need a 3x3 to irrigate a wider space and it will evaporate a lot more slowly than a 1x1. You’re doing great though!

I’m surprised you have the aqueduct placed where it is. It will only be useful for power when it’s the wet season or during bad tides. Most of the time you’ll be in drought and nothing will be flowing. If you had a bad water dome on the other side of the map you could have that flowing all of the time, even in a drought, and use that for power all of the time.

This is the first episode I've seen on your channel. Well done so far :) As for your tower reservoir at the end of the video, Isn't there a building that pumps water out from your storage to fill an area? It may be tribe specific. You could set a small 1 tall section, or blow a hole and fill that to keep that area green.

I had the badtides just fall off the map originally, on the left side from the water source. Then I engineered a backflow behind the water source with power wheels, so the badtide provides power for me, and doesn't contaminate the lower water reservoir. Sluices are perfect for it, as they have the contamination trigger. It's all automatic for me now.
@Ribsin
@Ribsin Ай бұрын
That's a 💡great idea 💡I didn't even consider that!
@AdmiralStoicRum
@AdmiralStoicRum Ай бұрын
@@gebus5633 Oh yeah I put up a large dam enough that it basically when it filled with water it would overflow off the map and I put sluice gates right in the middle of it and those slowest gates would close at the science head of contamination so I said it for 1% and otherwise it just runs and gushing and then I have another dam with some slewish gates and damn pieces for overflow so the slowest gates are for when we're in a drought or there's bad tide so the reservoir still slowly fills in this little lazy river thing I have but the when the water flows it flows out and I've got current

@Ribsin I finally played a bit today with the new update 6 or whatever it is with the those overhangs are really nice. Making a very large water wheel aqueduct for bad water. It's only purpose is to generate Beaver power. I'm doing canyon so it's a pain in the butt.

Few ideas: - use ladder mod - replace dams at the edge of map with levees, put sluices at the end of reservoir and set them to be open if water height is lower than 0.6 or something like, you will be able to retain water on this side and push everything to aquaduct. you will have green places all the time. - alternatively build 3x3 pools with levees and put there fluid dump. this will irigate big area - beavers can build any height down and two above - put medium storage next to your water pumps and make it prioritize by haulers, this way you can have max efficiency on pumps. - at the beggining/end of cycle speed of water blocks slows down/speeds up - generally sluices can make your life easier
