Enjoyed watching your journey. I'm currently planning a motorhome trip around France, just ordered my France passion book. Is it a requirement to reserve a spot with the hosts ahead of time, or just show up the day you want to stay?
@wadskistravelchannel4 ай бұрын
Hi 👋, you’ll absolutely love it 😊 When the book arrives you’ll see that 99% of the hosts do not require you to call ahead, you simply turn up. They often have time restrictions (such as please arrive before 7pm for example) of those we visited none asked us to call beforehand and we had no problem getting in. There’s a symbol next to each host stating how many vans they can accommodate and we always chose hosts with 2 or more spaces. There’s so many to choose from and they are reasonably close to each other so I I don’t think you’ll have any problems. Enjoy your trip and if you’re there end of September/October we may even see you there as well be heading that way ourselves too. Thank you for watching our videos. Sue and Steve 😎👋

Lovely! We are huge fans of France! (We are Swedish). Spent 10 years of vacations in France, every summer, now. (Motorhome, caravan and car/hotel). This year we went to Italy - it was also very nice but next year we will go back to France again. Probably Normandie and Bretagne. We have no motorhome, at the moment, but we plan to buy something like yours in close future. (Big vans are not suitable for exploring the countryside in France). Thank you for your movie and the inspiration we got from it! France Passion seems to be something for us!!! Br, Johnny & Ewa

@wadskistravelchannel5 ай бұрын
Hi Simon, we’ve never owned a coach built so can’t comment on them really. All we can say is that the van suits us very well (for two people), it’s economical, goes down narrow roads with ease and is easy to maintain. When parked up we tend to sit outside anyway so to us, a larger vehicle would be more hassle. Hope this helps. Sue and Steve 🙂

Hi Guys. We are really interested in your solar and lithium upgrades especially as we also have a Summit Prime 640 and would like to do something similar. We would love to hear how you get on using them in your latest European adventure and if you think it was worth doing.
@wadskistravelchannel7 ай бұрын
Hi @janehirst2923, for us yes, absolutely 100% worth doing. We went for a 230ah underseat lithium battery (ecotree), plus an extra 2x 140 watt panels, all the electronics (Mppt controllers and B2B battery chargers etc) are victron. Everything was supplied by BlueFix in Hereford. It all sits neatly under the dining seat so you don’t see any wires or anything. The cost was just under 4K. We already had an EcoFlow Delta 2 so didn’t need an inverter fitting. The new leisure battery allows us to charge the EcoFlow too which is fab. We have been away 6 days so far and the battery hasn’t dropped below 91% yet and we’ve been using the electric kettle, air fryer and hair straighteners every day and of course the fridge is on 24/7. We have had the option of EHU but have declined as not needed. We’re in Spain currently though and it IS sunny. We could last maybe 2 days with the old 95ah battery fitted as standard so Lithium is a big improvement. If you want to message us privately (via Facebook) I can send you the breakdown of costs and some additional thoughts we have on the installation👍 Hope this helps. Sue and Steve

Hi John, yes us too, always avoided Madrid - often doing an extra 100KM or so to keep away as we'd always been told it's very busy and difficult to navigate. Having now done it, I can confirm this route had no tolls whatsoever, it kept us out of the low emissions zone and was actually really easy. Hope this helps. Hi Gareth, we only use google maps for the route and park4night or searchforsites for the overnight parking. We've done this trip quite a few times (doing it again this April actually) and the scenery is stunning which ever way you go. If you're not in a hurry it's lovely to drive via Zaragoza and Valencia and then along the coast to Almeria. If you get as far as Aguadulce drop into our favourite Chirinquito there, it's called Diegos 👍 Hope this helps, Sue and Steve

Do you think an 11year old, 5year old and 3 year old would be bored on this Santander to south Spain route?
@wadskistravelchannel9 ай бұрын
Hello @Gareth_NocturnaGarage, I honestly don't know. I guess it depends on how well they travel. We have three kids too (all grown up now) but I'm not sure I'd take them on this kind of trip as it was a lot of driving. Our kids needed constant attention when they were younger and wouldn't sit in the van for that long - but of course yours may be quite content to sit and look out of the window and not start crying. We didn't stop in any sites that were family friendly on this trip though and of course there's loads of family orientated sites in Spain and Portugal. I guess if you stayed in sites with swimming pools and other things to amuse them you'd be OK? Remember it's over 2000 miles round trip using the route we took. I think if we were taking a young family we'd probably book a site with pools and activities where we knew they'd enjoy it and use the main motorways in Spain to get there as quickly as possible. Hope this helps and thank you for watching our videos 😊 Sue and Steve

I’m thinking a van rather than a coach build can I ask what you think please
@wadskistravelchannel10 ай бұрын
We went for a van as heard horror stories of damp in several fairly new coach built. Damp should be less of a risk in a metal van. Downside is it’s not as big as Coachbuilt (width wise) so less inside, but a van is easier to drive and park. I guess there are pros and cons to all really. Van is certainly our preference but everyone has different needs I guess. Hope this helps. Sue and Steve

Pomegranate have a rather bland taste, but if you scoop out the pips with a spoon and spoon them into your mouth with big scoopfuls, they taste better. Portugal seems rather quiet at that time of the year...Expect the Algarve will be a bit busier. Are all your evening stop offs off grid?

Never done the Santander ferry before so looking forward to the experience. Glad i caught your vlog thanks have subscribed and look forward to your next vlog. Enjoy your winter sun experience. Be interested in further feedback of the ferry experience, roads in Spain park ups etc. Regards Gray

Hi Graham, thank you for your kind comment and for subscribing, we're glad you're enjoying our videos. The ferry crossing was OK, we usually drive through France which we do prefer as we love the French countryside and villages but if the weather is a bit cold we prefer to get to Spain via the ferry and head south as quickly as possible. The roads in Spain are some of the best in Europe, most of the motorways are now toll free too. There isn't as many overnight park ups in Spain as there are in France but we never struggle to find somewhere. We use the park4night and searchforsites apps mostly. We'll be putting our next video out later this week and we always include our overnight parking locations - including what3words which we find really useful. Enjoy your trip in November and thank you again for subscribing. 😊 Safe travels. Sue and Steve
