Yeah good actually, the string is ever so slightly frayed but you'd have to look closely to notice. Some of the fablon started to peel but only the odd corner and a dab of glue put it right back, so overall still doing the job well wiht daily use over about 4 years now.

What screen material do u recommend for hd29hst
@jlo54436 ай бұрын
Honestly I just use a slightly grey painted wall. It's fine, really, especially in a dark room. (I've projected on to even walls painted quite noticable colours before (like in holiday rental where I've taken it for some gaming) and you'd be amazed how little impact it has on the picture. You're brain just compensates for most of the colour shift automatically).

Excellent solution to what must be a common problem. I tried Amazon kits in the past and they were all rubbish. Watched this today and headed out to replicate it. I used a panel of B&Q furniture board (about £10) and cut to size, then used the same corner mounts as you suggest - perfect fit now, thanks for the inspiration!

It's still mostly there a few years later, just the odd piece needed a tiny spot of glue where it had come away from wear and team but essentially it's unoticable

Thanks for this video and a solution to the light leak, brought some of these today for my daughtersnorth facing bedroom windows, bit gutted they don't totally block out light, but with the sticky felt addition it'll be plenty good enough for those late summer evenings when she's in bed.

How do i add more color to my picture? I like vivid colors, do you have good settings for the HD29HST. Please help me
@jlo54436 ай бұрын
It's all there in the setting mate; colour, 'Brilliant Colour', contrast etc. But the biggest difference comes from letting less ambient light in to the room. You can also adjust video settng in VLC and lots of other players if you use those.

J Thanks for reviewing. How would loud did you find the fan on the HD29HST in its ECO mode in general and compared to other projectors ? I am trying to pick between The Optomoa HD29HST and the BenQ TH671ST any thoughts?
@jlo54436 ай бұрын
The fan is much quieter in Eco and Eco+ mode. I tend to avoid bright mode as it does make the fan ramp up and really the difference in picture quality between Bright and Eco+ is surprisingly little. Just a very slight extra bit of smooth transtion to pure white (just reduce the contrast a bit unitl it doens't bug you) but it's so slight it's not really worth the fan noise IMHO. If you are somewhere where you need to keep the volume low (e.g kids sleepng upstairs) then you can't rely on loud volume to drown out the fan noise - in that situation a super quiet fan is much more important. It would bug me if I had the volume low.

Hi the optoma projector hd29hst this one does a 100 inch at 1 metre is there a short throw projector that does a bigger screen at 1 metre for similar price from amazon UK
@MrAfterglow2 жыл бұрын
I doubt it Kyle, 100" at 1 metre is pretty good, I think anything closer at that size or larger your looking at ultra short throws, and they are about 30-50cm distance for around a 120" size (rough sizes here just to demonstrate the difference)
@normgregoire79542 жыл бұрын
I am about to purchase one of these two models. The HD29 (or in Canada it's the EH412) is $700 Cdn more than the 1080HDR. But I'm confused. Both of these projectors use the same bulb and appear to have virtually the same specs other than the lumens. When inputting both models in Projector Central and setting the distance at 7' 10" the nits for the 1080 are an acceptable 63 but the HD29 has an amazing 101 nits. I have spoken to a few retailers and none have been able to give any explanation as to why the lumens and nits are higher for the HD29 (EH412). I am waiting to hear back from Optoma so that they can explain the differences. I also can't see what I would be getting for the extra $700. I would appreciate anybody's help and input on this. Cheers

Yes of course, the gt1080 has two HDMI inputs which I imagine the other model has two as well 👍

What about if you paint the recess black
@jlo54433 жыл бұрын
I guess that could work OK for the light spill but there is a big benefit from the extra brightness of the newer model. Plus I've recently painted an installed a cheap adjustable black border for the screen and that makes all the difference. I'll try to put up a video sometime.
@andykg733 жыл бұрын
thanks for the vid, you saved me some money as I was just about to buy some blinds. On the sides of the frame that are leaking light you could use a decorators caulk and run a thin bead of caulking along the fitting and the window then using a damp finger to smooth it off. That will definitely help with the sides. The corners I guess could be painted? even if you painted them qhite on the insides they wouldnt let the light in and wouldnt look out of place than if you painted them black.
@jlo54433 жыл бұрын
Glad to help and yes, I'd definitely consider caulk if it was sure to be a permanent fixture. Just could be a bit of pain to remove from UPVC frames without scratching it up if you or a future owner changed thier mind, although 5 months later I can confirm it's still standing well and blocking direct summer sun well too so maybe permanent isn't a bad choice actually.
@roseymec26943 жыл бұрын
So happy to see that someone else with PerfectFit blackout blinds had same light leak issues, and excellent DIY fixes. I’m still struggling with the “perfect fit” and “blackout” labels when these blinds do not live up to those properties! Thanks for the ideas 😄
