YASSS!! That was awesome! Love playing this piece (cellist) and can't get enough of it! It's always nice to see when people actually get into the music instead of sit stiff and motionless as if they were a statue with arms moving when they play, lol. Keep posting!

I am SO proud that his music can be heard in GHANA! One observation: Natur is tonal. In fact, this song cycle is one of the last tonal things that Schönberg did compose.

This piece, and the composer himself, are new to me. I have now compared several videos played on the viola and on the violin, and prefer it when played on the viola. J.S. Bach is known to have liked the viola, and his Brandenburg Concerto № 6 does not include violins.

Thanks for enjoying this! We didn't know Bach had a preference for the viola. :)

Bravissima! Great dynamics! What kind of piano is it? Great timbre. Almost sounds like a period instrument at some points.

From the Introduction to “African Music in Ghana” by J.H.Kwabena Nketia: By far the most important early contribution is that of Ward, the historian and musician, who played an important role in Ghanaian music education in the 1930’s. His interest in African music lay largely in its creative possibilities, for he believed that “if it could learn from Europe modern developments in form and harmony, African music should grow into an art more magnificent than the world has yet seen”.

A powerful piece! The title refers to a mountainous region in Crimea, Uch-Kosh (Уч-Кош). I have looked up the Wikipedia biography of Sergei Bortkiewicz, and it gives one example of how life was during the turbulent history of Europe in the first half of the 20th Century.

I had to look up what an arpeggione is, and found out on the KZbin channel *Arpeggione Today* - a bowed guitar and fretted cello in one instrument. P.S. I found a performance of the 2nd movement on an actual arpeggione, of recent manufacture. I shared it with some musical friends, and alas, one of them replied “Will someone please put that cat out of its misery!”

Yes, it's a curious instrument. A bit of a shame that it never caught on. Thanks for watching!

What an intense piece by Chopin - the atmosphere in the room must have been electric.
