Do you roll over the wheel well or take it out? I seen somebody cut the wheel well just a tad to roll completely flat.
@ConcoctiveD10 ай бұрын
Depends on the car, usually I tuck it above the fender roller to get a good roll, but some cars I trim the fender liner

The set you have is the Costel version, there are several major problems, which I made a few videos on. I suggest watching all 3 of the videos on them because I found more problems as I was doing the rebuild. The VIV set of turbos use tdo4 journal bearings, the Costel set has an odd made up size journal bearing which uses a matching size shaft. The thrust bearing you need to use on that turbo is a tdo4 not tdo3, you are saying it needs a tdo3 because of the dowel pin location hole in the bearing. You need a tdo4 thrust bearing but the hole needs to be on the opposite side. I have been drilling the tdo4 bearings to make it work and have several on hand. The tdo3 and tdo4 thrust bearing diameter where the collar goes is a different size. The Costel turbos need a lot of things fixed on them you are better off just getting a viv set. Also those thrust bearings should never wear out at all if they are designed properly, from what I can see it look like the pattern on the bearing is for a reverse tdo4 that were in the turbo which makes sense why it would wear out because the pattern on the thrust bearing is directional, instead of the pattern on the bearing helping lubrication it’s scraping off the oil as the spacer and collar are spinning on it. I’m not sure if that tdo3 bearing will work on on that turbo or not, I think the inside of the bearing is too small for the spacer to fit.

Your video on this are really quality imo. You have a good understanding, can see it and can show it. N54 platform was already given a shit for quality turbo from the factory. I sold my 335i about 3 years ago so I've been out of the game for that long. Getting the car back now and over the last two days I've been playing catch up on turbo game. When I had the car the Chinese turbos for sale were all bullshit remanufactured stocks with cheap internals and billet wheels that boasted more fins for bullshit claims of power and psi. It seems that some Chinese companies have realized instead of scamming people, to actually throw a little R&D into hybrid builds. They are already the people making all these parts for name brands in the US. If they had skipped out on the cheap shit and built a true TD04 internal with the upsized housings they'd own the aftermarket turbo game. People bitch about Chinese hybrid builds but throw 25psi+ at them. They were never built for this nor will hybrid updates make them reliable for this. People expect a product to last forever even though they are moon boosting them well beyond engineering intention. For this reason I'll be buying 19T turbos (hopefully v4) tearing them down, check build and tolerance, replacing the weak parts, sending off for balance check, installing and giving them hell and reporting regularly. 15k miles out of a set of turbos you're pushing well beyond limits is a good fucking run. I'm on board with these! Thanks for the review!
@JaggzGaming Жыл бұрын
did you get the v4s?
@Xtremecarfan101883 жыл бұрын
You know what, I think I made a decision. I am going 17T. Reason being I already got 3 cars. The 335i is my daily right now but I'm probably just gonna sell one or two of my others (both are also gas guzzlers) for a reliable daily like a Camry or something then go full send on the 335i. Thank you for the video. Btw: Secret is maintenance as well on the N54. At 156k and still runs beast!

Do you need to rebalance the turbos after installing the Turbo Labs hardware?
@adrianleblanc33893 жыл бұрын
Hey man, first off great video, super informative and well said. Are the VIV CHRAs on Amazon the same internals as the full 17t? They say oem spec but I coulda sworn I’ve seen 17ts with 2in intakes, probably a dumb question but I’m planning on upgrading the internals on my turbos and figured I’d go with the viv CHRAs if they’re the same! Thanks

My viv 17ts blew last month I'm going single after dumping so much into my N54
@ConcoctiveD3 жыл бұрын
How many miles did you get out of them? Single is nice, but if the 17ts blow, I'm either LS swapping or going to a different platform

@@ConcoctiveD well I didn't record the miles but just know the car is my daily driver and I installed them last year June and they blew March 1st and I beat the shit out of my car I also have a built bottom end containing 84.5mm je Pistons, Molnar rods, & king bearings but I'm still open deck.

You most likely have fake balance sheets from your cheap turbos. They fail left right a centre, just luck of the draw if they last.
@ConcoctiveD3 жыл бұрын
These are not the balance sheets from Viv, I paid to have the cartridge vsr balanced by a local company. Those were the results. Also 17ts are built with the good internals, but the 19ts aren't.

Great video. That PCV Delete fitting, surely that does the same as plugging the head ports? As once you put the pcv delete fitting, it no longer opens to allow oil vapors to the head ports? Is that correct?
@ConcoctiveD3 жыл бұрын
Correct. Basically it removed all sources of vaccum from the head/intake ports and runs it external from a separate vaccum source
@justindunn77853 жыл бұрын
Great. So essentially then no need to plug head ports. As the PCV delete will ultimately do that. I will research non e the less. Would be great to not have to do the drill and tapping.
@ConcoctiveD3 жыл бұрын
@@justindunn7785 you could try to run the pcv delete without plugging the head ports as I heard the fitting blocks all flow coming from the valve cover. However I still recommend just blocking them just so you know 100% it blocked.
@sulaimanahmad37773 жыл бұрын
You should definitely take your intake manifold off, and put paper towels just behind the exit of the vacuum hose. After I got done I had a shit ton of metal shavings in those holes. If I hadn't have paper towels there to catch them and pull them out all of those metal shavings would have went into the combustion chamber
@ConcoctiveD3 жыл бұрын
Your right. I definitely recommend taking the manifold off and blocking the intake ports just in case. Definitely don't want to get any metal in the motor lbs
