I’ve been singing for a very long time and I’m blown away by this technique! I could feel and hear the difference right away! Warming with a singing straw is my go tool .. it really works!

This is great! I'd love more of these types of exercises. I'm a new choir member who returned to singing regularly after almost 40 years of being away from music, and rely on exercises like these to improve my sound clarity and agility ( not to mention volume). Thank you so much!

I started a couple of weeks ago incorporating my Singing Straws back into my singing routine. I had Band Rehearsal the other night and notice an incredible difference in my tone and delivery. I now use my singing straws while I'm on the stationary bike. Best investment.

Thank you so much for the lessons. I used to have a beautiful singing voice but my husband got sick and for several years we’ve been isolated and I haven’t been singing. I know that I’ve grown older but I think my weakened voice is more from not using it than it is from aging. I’m trying to sing more around the house now and I’m using your straws. Hopefully, some of the strength and clarity that I use to have will come back. Thank you again. ❤

what to do when making sound through the straw causes a ton of tension on my voice and causes it to split if i try to “relax into it?”
@SingingStraw9 күн бұрын
You may want to use 2 or 3 straws at once! You want to feel the resistance, but not too much that you are fighting it.

Thank you for your explanation of nasal and how changing the placement of the soft palate changes where the sound comes out. Im trying to learn to control my soft palate placement. Noticing that the straw has been helping. What exercises can you recommend? Also, do you have a video running through an exercise that works on creating more nasal and no nasal - creating more balance and control so that I can use it in my songs as stylistic tools. Hope that made sense. Thank you again for your help and answering my questions. Very much appreciated 😊

When I use the straws should I keep "puffing my cheeks" because It feels abit like a "Balloon" ? because I'm trying to relax as much as possible just to get the "best" outcome

I need to strengthen my upper range as suggested. Does using the narrowest straw give more resistance/strengthening to the muscle involved in the upper range or should I use the Goldilocks straw? Also, when I go down to the lowest notes, should I use the wider straw?
@SingingStraw26 күн бұрын
The narrowest straw will give you more resistance but keep in mind that you don't want to push it! If you feel like you're fighting the resistance, go back to the 3mm straw. Keep in mind that every singer is different and working on different things so play around with each size straw and see what feels good for you!
@Moochy01029 күн бұрын
So I've been doing this for weeks and I just noticed how you puff your cheeks as you blow into the straw. I started doing the same thing and noticed it takes the pressure off and allows me to use the straw with more ease. I initially started with two straws and have now gone down to one...anywho it was helpful. Am I doing it right?
@SingingStraw26 күн бұрын
Puffing your cheeks out is just a personal preference! If it helps you, then for sure keep doing it! But it is not necessary for the straw to do its magic. As long as all the air is going through the straw and you are feeling the resistance, you are probably doing it right! :)

I have a metal drinking straw… will that work the same?
@SingingStrawАй бұрын
A regular drinking straw has a much larger diameter than the Singing / Straw so it won't give you as much resistance (which is where the magic happens). However, you can use it in a pinch and see how it goes. If you ever want to learn more or order a Singing / Straw, here is the link: singingstraw.com
