I smile with my mouth closed because of this exact reason and cry if I do get to see a dentist ....not everyone has thousands laying around to have dental upkeep let alone if anything major is needed to be handled.

OH I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I have ADHD and so I don't toothbrush that much (sometimes even for up to weeks 😅) but even though my mom knows I have it she still dismisses it as "laziness" which I find really annoying. I'm brushing my teeth more often now since school just started for me (still not everyday, but i'm trying to achieve it) and I appreciate you for being so open-minded and understanding 💖🗣‼️

I love you so much, ive been judged before at my first ortho since my dad had to pay more for my cleaning and the nurse made rude comments like “this could’ve been avoided if she just took care of her teeth”. I felt bullied n embarrassed, ive gone through a lot of abuse & neglect & I had depression. This place was horrible tbh, they dropped me for not going for a few months even though I told them I was moving, and we were almost done paying for it. When I was looking for new orthodontics, the other places were shocked that I was dropped as that isn’t normal. They just took all our money then didn’t wanna help further. My ortho was very nice but it was the office people / manager who decided to drop and that one lady who was rude. I’ll be leaving a bad review for them once my current treatment is done & I’ll be advertising for my second orthodontist lol. She actually was my first dr at the first place but she had left and got her own place so I got a new one there, I felt so lucky to run into her again she is amazing!

this is so true.. not trying to vent but I grew up neglected, I didn't brush my teeth much and id chew on batteries alot. Now I have bucked bunny teeth... I get called SpongeBob, Sandy cheeks, donkey, and names like that daily.

Ive been going to the same dentist since i was ten and i have really severe mental health issues that hinder my self care, but i recently have started beint able to brush my teeth more! The dentist said she was proud of me and even told my mother that i was doing well. That kind of support makes me want to keep taking care of myself :)

My dentist roasts me every time I go w them... I finally have braces cause of all the bullying I had as a child.

When my first teeth grew i had a bacteria that caused my teeth to have black crosses around them luckily a professional dentist could remove them after 9 years😅

People used to look at my dad weird because his teeth were really dirty and bad. He tried taking care of his teeth but he had to get new fake teeth drilled in. Whenever i talked about my dad's surgery for his teeth, they thought he was a bad guy. My dad is a amazing person and he had terrible parents that never took him to the dentist. I never complained going to the dentist, i didnt want him reminding himself of his own parents. People need to realize that you cant look at a man and tell them that they're careless or gross until they actually know they're careless.

I’m thankful I had a dentist come to my elementary school to teach me the right way to brush. I’m thankful I have a good household that never neglected me as a child, I’m grateful I have (dental) health care so ai could have braces at a young age.

I have some yellow stuff stick to my teeth and close to my gums and it wont come off and i have some new teeth growing and one old one i think itd because i dont wash my teeth two times a day and dont floss aswell i dont know if its true but please answer me and tell me the answer!

thank you. i’ve had a hard time with dental hygiene having been stuck in autistic burnout for months. it’s at a point where i’m avoiding going to the dentist because of how ashamed i am. it’s nice to see people choosing to lead with empathy. i have a plan to improve my dental routine :)

"ew yellow teeth is so weird" and having PERFECT white teeth is unhealthy. your teeth are gonna be atleast tinted a little yellow even with how much you brush.

There's also people like me who have yellow teeth because of to much brushing, and then people make fun of yellow teeth even tho there clean, (it doesn't help that when i had braces, they dentist didn't take all the glue off so it looks like I have cavities) 🙃

Literally! and this is what exactly happened to me after I got really depressed after drugs alcohol and birth control being a woman is no joke! I felt like a true addict but now I am learning to brush my teeth day and night. 😢7 months going 8 strong 💪 sober gang.

I have cricket teeth and I get bully in arguments and get called “ bunny”but IM so happy I’m getting braces in October 2024 btw I’m in 5th grade now 😊
