How do you deal with the piggies not biting the wood or the fabric that makes up their cage? Knowing my guinea pigs, they would est their home in one day if they could. I don't know. Answers appreciated.

Wonderful to be in the new home with the piggies. It can be so stressful to move at Xmas while having a toddler. I can imagine you need earned some much needed rest. Looking forward to all the new adventures in the new home.

I had to move up 24 hours with my two Guinea pigs and the poor things had to be in a small carrier for the three day road trip. On of the times we staying in a small motel room that didn’t allow pets so we had to sneak them inside 🤫

It's tricky moving with pigs, we did recently also and took apart their cage last, after the truck was all loaded up, then travel to the new place and then set up their new area first before we unloaded the truck. It was a really long day! 😭

So you chose your house provided that it has a garden... FOR THE PIGGIES. I can see this in my mind... Summertime, fair weather, delicious green grass. The entire garden is blocked with the huge secured pen for the pigs who run around happily, munch gras. And YOU are desperately look around for a tiny spot where you may enjoy your garden too. But as long as your fur potatoes are happy everything is fine 🥰 Well, you are the best Piggy Mom in the world 🤩😍

How do you keep their nails short? Do you have to cut them? Alternatively, you could give them a rough concrete or brick surface to walk across which will keep their nails filed. Soft furnishings look cosy, but don't mimic the reality of the Peruvian mountain cave where their ancestors lived.

They know what to do in an evacuation: GRAB THE MOST IMPORTANT, MOST VALUABLE STUFF. My grasp of the concept was a little less impressive. When the smoke from a brush fire, still miles away but slowly burning toward my neighborhood, turned day to night and filled the air with an unrelenting oven-hot wind and a blizzard of ashes, the first things I thought of taking were my backpack (with ID and money in it) ... and my TYPEWRITER. My beloved typewriter. (Yes, it's been a few years.)

Garden will be lovely. My pigs sure love mine! Some sort of overhead cat protection for when they’re unsupervised… Not so sure about the separate pig room though, better in the living room so they’re part of your life every second. It’s easy to become emotionally detached from them when they’re physically detached from you.
