My hair in my crown area thinned out and I lost like 15 locs. I found out I had hyperthyroidism. I started treatment right away and after about 1 year my hair fully grew back in the crown area and I just attached loc extensions to that area. While I was going through treatment I left my crown area alone and wore a lot of hats. I did not want to bother it until it got healthy, then I attached the extensions.

My name is Suzette I had a consultation with you via phone about 4 years ago!! I have had my locs for 10 years now but they were started thin and I want to have thicker locs. They are pass my butt now almost reaching the inside of my knees lol. I wish you would come to California!!! What do you think about me just cutting them and starting them over?

Hi Yannie, Hope you are blessed. I have a question and I hope you might have some truthful insight . I am almost 3 months loc'd. 62 locs, two-stand starter method. I currently self-maintenance. I wet my hair whenever needed and try to keep my scalp oil free because I also have sebderm. I've had sebderm for almost 15 years. Locs have been the best solution for my scalp. Still, especially staring off I have a little skin build up at the tips. Do you think that with medium size locs( I have 62) , the sebderm with become extremely noticeable ? If so , would doing a natural brown coloring help cover anything ( skin/sebderm) ? My mom also has seberm and wore locs most of my life. However she colored hers red and I would like to remain mostly natural. I love my hair and I hope to grow older with locs. Thanks for any insight you might provide .

My hair is fine. The person who started my Locs should have made them thicker. Seven years in. Locs were at my butt. Just had length shortened to mid-back a few days ago. I can’t tell if my hair is fine or if my roots are thinning. I DO NOT use alot of products. Just Jamaican black castor oil. And eeevery blue moon, organic olive oil. I keep it covered and I don’t put tension on it. I really wish I had thicker parts. Help.

First, I would like to say…your videos have been very helpful!! I’ve had my locs for a little over 2 years now and I would say that I am a overthinkier. I didn’t realize it until u said it, but the video watching definitely does play a part in it. I have a social media page solely dedicated to my loc journey, so all I see are videos of locs. Also, I have already had problems with thining (which started around year 1), so I definitely overthink bc I just want them to be healthy and I haven’t really found anyone who I believe cares about the health of my hair (which is why I’ve been thinking about self-maintenance).

I dont overthink or think about my locs really. I like the puffy look after a wash. Then I oil it and leave it. I twist it myself every other month.

In the very beginning of my journey I was bit obsessed with my locs just trying to get it right on how to properly take care of them now I just listen to what my hair needs

I was overthinker about locs because of lack of knowledge 😢
@charleneroberts9252 ай бұрын
Yes in the beginning. Then I watched your videos and realized I was overthinking. Simple is best. Wash once per month. Lavender or rosemary/peppermint black castor oil and aloe vera juice. Spray roots when needed. I also extended my hair maintenance from every 4 weeks to 8 weeks. I like the disrespectful look. 😁 I'm going to try interlocking this month. 😊

I was an over thinker when I first started my locs. With my loose natural hair my hair was so high maintenance. I have high porosity hair and it was hard to keep moisture in. But now, I let my hair and scalp tell me what it needs and i give it accordingly and its been working well for me. Im definitely in the mirror tho cuz I am thoroughly enjoying my locs 😅😅

There’s been so many days I’ve thought of cutting them, but if I give it a day then I usually think of regretting the big chop. Some time to gain perspective helps ☮️

Hello Yanni! I've always watched your vids but I started watching more recently because I want my locs to stay healthy for as long as possible and I felt like my former loctician was going to destroy them had I continued going to her. I've learned so much and taking your advice have helped my locs so much and because of you I decided to stretch out how long I do my locs again (Doing them every 2-3 months instead of 1 month now). I also did my first hot oil treatment and it was amazing, I'll be doing it again. Thank you so much for these videos, you've helped me so much. I'm half trinidadian (dougla) so shout out to T&T :D!.

I use to be a over think when I first started my locs, then I came across a video of your I stop being overthink I use to like 20 different oils all I use now is this oils I use black Jamaican castor oil, grapeseed oil, and peppermint oil in my hair and I spay rose water on some time when I get hot I sleep with satin pillowcases if I don’t use a bonnet I wash my hair and let it air dry I don’t like nobody else to do my hair because they have all these different spirits on them so I do my own hair and it’s come down to my bra strap now. I have been watching your videos like 4 1/2 🎉years. I have my Locs Crown is healthy and I’m still watching your videos from time to time my locs grow away from my head and my hair is fine so it take a little bit more time to loc but that’s ok but is healthy thank to you have a blessed day
