The paradise is a paradise. Makaha is the home of the best beaches ever. Homeless is an issue all over the world. So be mindful of ur surroundings. Common sense. Our home of Makaha is a place for tuff hearted and the ones who seeks hidden beauty within the valleys from nanakuli to kaena point.

We stayed on Makaha beach for a month and never experienced any issues with the locals. People at the grocery stores offered to help me load my groceries, easily interacted with my kids, and were very polite. Two years later, we stayed near Kailua and the second day there we were told that we were not welcomed, not by a native, but by a “transplant “. I hate to hear such a large number of people categorized as unfriendly. We never forget that we are guests and try to behave accordingly.

A long time ago, the royalists invited my family to Oahu, and even then, the local hawaiian kids would call me "Haole" when I went to surf Makaha. The best waves on Oahu are on the west side and the indigenous people do not want exploiters to ruin their beautiful home.

Grew up there in the 70''s, I'm from Honokai Hale, a mile east of Kahe Point. This was a surf spot that you could stay at all day! The warm water that came out from the power plant made it like a " Bathtub." We surfed with black tip sharks all around us, in fact, I remember 1 pregnant large black tip one summer, she was huge. The sharks never bothered us, and let me tell you, their were alot. The best lefts and rights ever. I was so fortunate to have grown up in that era. Now, I look at it, and it is so different. Thanks for your story 🤙

I go kayak fishing in Makaha from 3:30 am almost every week...Pretty sketchy looking area but I haven't had any problems there. No one has hassled me or broken into my car.

I stayed at a hostel in Makaha a couple blocks from the beach. The proprietor picked me up from the airport in a van with the bay windows in the back removed. He told me he just left it that way to avoid people breaking the windows. He also told me he could leave anything he wanted in the van because the crooks assumed there was nothing in it. He also told me if your car was seen as a rental car it would be broken into. I stayed for 2 weeks and had zero problems with the locals. He hooked me up with a couple locals happy to drive me around the are to run errands and show me the local scene.

I’m trying to show my kids this beach to get excited because they’re a little intimidated and scared and you’re talking about people dying and drowning. I get it, let’s be precautious but let’s have fun with this video!

When I was young that beach was secluded. And the locals called that spot ‘I don’t knows’ & the beginning is known as ‘preys or prey for sex’. the social media scene made a tourist friendly now so it’s not secluded anymore
