Nice vid, I think the voltages are specific to your vehicle/battery, one of my cars has an AGM battery which charges at a different rate over (15V DC), on big (generator) engines the control systems are designed to survive 0 volts on start up, with internal capacitors, not sure if cars would utilise the same principals.

Hi, great videos as always, followed the instructions in your gearbox video made the job easier than I expected, just a quick question the feed from the fuel rail to the injector will that be pressurised ? Will it normal therefore to have some residual fuel come out of the connector? Will make sure the battery is disconnected
@ReviveMyRide4 күн бұрын
Hi, yes, if the engine has been running recently, it will be pressurised and it is very high pressure at the injector too. This does dissipate quickly once the joint is cracked though. I left the car overnight before starting the job and there was no pressure there. I know a lot of people advocate doing this job with a warm engine as it makes the injectors easier to remove, so it must be possible to undo the fuel connection if the car has been running recently, just be careful and maybe wear gloves as a precaution. Cheers, Phil

@@ReviveMyRide thank you for your reply, I’m going to tackle this job this weekend, cylinder 2 is flagging up on my diagnostic reader, the cars presenting with a rough idle, going to switch the injector with one of the others to diagnose whether it’s the injector or maybe the wiring or ecu. Theory potentially busted?? Relay attack while you’re actually driving or even as you’re simply using the fob to enter the vehicle. Thieves could be watching/following you. Manufacturer’s couldn’t care less your car was stolen. More sales after insurance pays you out for a replacement. Tell me it isn’t so. World is run by greed.

I’ve been using a sulphated battery in my Sprinter Van for the past six months. I did so by fitting a cut off switch to the positive terminal of the battery. I keep the battery isolated whenever I know I won't be driving for more than 10 minutes. This also gives me a bit of extra security on the vehicle. The battery has trouble starting the Van if it is left connected for more than 4 hours. The morning start is the hardest. If I can't get it going, I use an emergency jump starter which is cheaper than a new battery in the morning. What I tend to find however is a couple of start attempts, warms up the battery enough to get the car started. After that, normal use of the Van, and continuing to isolate the battery as much as possible, means I don't have any trouble for the rest of the day. All this on a battery I should have replaced six months ago. Next time I buy a new battery I will continue to isolate it and see how long it lasts. For a tiny bit more trouble than normal battery use, I expect a new battery will last at least five years before I have real difficulty.

Hi @wiretamer5710 thank for sharing your experience! Sounds like you are managing the issue pretty well. Yes, it would be interesting to see how long a battery lasts if under zero load when not being used. Cheers, Phil

Probably just wants topping up with water. Some of the Varta batteries you can peal off the label and unscrew the caps to top them up. I can see circular outlines on the label so maybe that's the case here. I managed to get a fair few extra years out of mine by topping it up. Unfortunately many if not most are physically sealed to stop owners topping them up.

Evening Phil , this will be interesting to follow, does the engine turn over by hand, if it does you might just get away with it , I had a E46 M3 , 10 years ago , that car cost me more than my divorce at the time , I’ve had a good 100 cars since pasting my test in 86 , I drive a Jag xf with the 2.2 engine basically a Ford it seems to be a good car , my son who’s 22 got a new Tesla model Y yesterday, not what I call a car , but I suppose it’s the future
@ReviveMyRide6 күн бұрын
Hi, wow, you’ve had a lot of cars! I’m terrible at selling cars, I get too attached to them. Tesla’s aren’t my thing either but I’ve had a ride in one and they are impressive 👍 No, the engine is seized, won’t turn over by hand, so I need to get the engine out and see what’s wrong with it. Not sure how it’s going to turn out, don’t should be exciting, hope you enjoy following the journey! Thanks for your comment and for watching! Cheers, Phil

Are you supposed to add any fluid to the torque converter once you drain it?
@ReviveMyRide4 күн бұрын
Hi @kanob6440 No, it refills when you start the engine but it is important to follow the level check and top up procedure in this video because the torque converter refilling will leave your transmission pan fluid level a little low. Cheers, Phil

Hi see wen u feel the gearbox oil from the top are u suppose to see the oil from the filling hole before u put the cap or not as i couldnt see the oil at the top trought the small hole
@ReviveMyRide4 күн бұрын
Hi, @parmindersidhu9690 when you are refilling the transmission up from the top, you put 4.25L (or 3.75 quarts) in ad put the plug back in the top (you can see that at about 03:30 in the video). Then you take the car for a drive and when you get back, you remove the level plug on the side of the transmission and let the excess fluid flow out, (06:19 in the video) then you put the level plug back in and you are done. If for some reason, nothing flowed out of the level plug, you top up at the top until fluid starts to flow out of the level plug. Hope this helps! Cheers, Phil

@ReviveMyRide thanks yea as I had a leak which I fixed but now I order extra fluid to add to my gearbox jus for whatever was lost I wanted to ask when I fill it up do I need to see the fluid at the top before I put the plug back in at the top of the engine as im not sure how much fluid I have in the gearbox am how much was lost. All I know is after I removed the filling hole I couldn't see any fluid near the top trough the little filling hole
@ReviveMyRide3 күн бұрын
@@parmindersidhu9690ok, good that you have found the leak! No, if you can see fluid through the filling hole at the top, you will have way too much in it. It’s really important that you take the wheel off, remove the level plug in the side of the transmission and then top up until it just start to flow out a little. Thanks, Phil

Do You think it might be use as coupler for after market sport silencers instead of welding? Also, does it need ane paste o sealant underneath? I know that mechanics use some When assembling exhusts.?
@ReviveMyRide8 күн бұрын
Yes, it can but double check that both pipes are exactly the same diameter. If they’re not, there are actually different sized couplers you can buy. For example 48mm one end and 52mm on the other for joining dissimilar pipe sizes. It would do any harm but as long as you have a good tight fit, you should need any jointing compound. Cheers, Phil

Why do keep getting uneven flare?
@ReviveMyRide12 күн бұрын
Hi, just a couple of ideas for you. The first is that the end of the pipe has to be cut off square, ideally with a pipe cutter as this will give the best result. The second is that the pipe end that you are flaring should be as straight as possible, as a slight bend in the pipe could also cause it. Hope that helps! Cheers, Phil
