Leaves me shaking my head, how do many people flock to routes like the GDT while trips like this go mostly untracked. So many accessible areas in Alberta's mountains that don't require a permit, just go.

Great video, helpful for my upcoming trip. In 2021, I exited via Donald-Haggart-broken arrow to side rock in the fall. Low water and no trail clearing, it was a grind at times! Glad to see some maintenance was done.

Just watched your video to check out the lay of the land. My wife is from DesChambault Lk and I was born on Vancouver Island and raised in the North Okanagan. Your trip sure had lots of beautiful scenery even though some smoky weather. My wife and I live in the country by 100 Mile House BC yet hopefully one summer check out northern Saskatchewan in the future.

As before, thanks for letting us look over your shoulder! Cool to see that Middle Kilburn site still looking good five years after we were last there. And neat to see some spots that I walked just 2-3 weeks prior; funny how those couple weeks made a big difference: the bugs were really really rough - shorts and short sleeves were never an option, though the Factory was producing a walleye on 2/3 of casts and overall fishing was just excellent.

Awesome video, nice of you guys to camp with another group on Mexican Hat I’m sure they were thankful for that. I remember being on the crew that cleared the 570 last year, that trail was bad but it must have gotten worse over the winter. I know where I’m going next year for my first trip haha. The area around Paull lake was pretty rough and the burn really did a number on it. Those trails in the burn require constant maintenance or they just deteriorate so fast from blowdown.
@VernDewitАй бұрын
Haha, yeah some of those trails sure deteriorate fast! I appreciate all the work that you guys do to keep them clear! Next year I'll likely be traveling that 570 again with my wife. Hoping to do the Edge Route...

Hi Vern I really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing! Seems like you and your daughter had a great time :D. I was hoping you would have done the 875 out of Crystal lake so I could see if it needed more maintenance but I totally get why you bypassed it haha. Nice to see the site you stayed at on the Haggart river again as well. I like the clips of you guys fishing and wow you both caught some big fish. It’s too bad you didn’t find the island site on Wanda, if I go thru there again I’ll mark it better with a cairn. Always nice to see what trails need some work as well! If you need any info for planning your trips for next year I’d be more than happy to help! Also if there’s any areas you think should have work done as far as maintenance goes let me know and I will make it happen. Thanks again for the great video.

Solid work as always - thank you for bringing us along. I returned to WCPP for a solo (via Leano) about two weeks after you exited. Great fishing, spectacular scenery, world-class biting entomology. Your comment about getting a consistent routine down for portaging is spot-on...the dog and I did over 50 on our trip and we grew very efficient. It was a little disheartening to see video evidence of what's become of the Enchanted Portage between Ugly and Dunstan...that was a beautiful walk in the woods before. And that creek east of Ugly going towards Royd is something miserable in low water!! Cheers.

Great video. I enjoyed it, thank you! Dozens of tick attachments sounds horrible. I know you can't buy liquid permethrin in Canada but I've heard you can buy clothes with permethrin/Insect Shield pre-treated. This stuff really really works. Once a tick gets on your clothes it will die before it can attach. Also works excellent against mosquitoes. We don't have black flies in Oregon/Washington but should work for those too. I spend half the year backpacking most weekends wearing these clothes and they work so well.

Fantastic video with exceptional quality as always! I am new your channel and, after recently discovering this wealth of content on your youtube and website, have been busy recommending it to as many people as will listen. The concept of peak bagging is quite new to me. On a few occasions, you have mentioned that a peak is or is not an "official" peak or mountain. Thus implying that there is certain criteria that makes a peak a peak, or perhaps an official list of peaks constructed by some governing body or organization? Is this the case, and if so, how can I find this list?

Well done, I've enjoyed every minute of it, Vern. You're such a minimalist, no protective gloves on that shale, low ankle approach shoes, I'd be a bit worried of a piece of rock hitting my foot above the ankle, but I know, it could hit anywhere. Such a sketchy ridge, you're moving so smoothly along it.
