Rooster in your dealing with some of the Ranger n series radios do you run into any on and off switch issues with these radios,man my 99n1 if I turn the radio off I might not ever get it to turn back on it takes about 50 times and then it might come on, do you know of any places we as radio operators might be able to get parts for these radios (ie:switches maybe) I don't think I am buying any more export radios I think I am going HF radio maybe FT-710 Yeasu

You'll be disappointed trying to run an hf radio on AM. Yes the n series have had a bad run of on/off switches. Superior CB in Cali is ranger's warranty center. They carry all replacement parts

That’s an amateur radio service amplifier. Yes, the 10 meter position will tune on 11 meters. The starting positions for tuning should be in the back of the manual if I am not mistaken for each band. The plate shows the meter band right on the face plate behind tuning knob. Great amp, will do legal limit no problem with about 30-35 watts of drive. They run 1500 watts no problem. It’s an HF amplifier citizens band radio is in the HF spectrum therefore it works

@ CBPunisher1900 @ it is an multi-band Amateur radio amplifier by design, thus, 160 meters through 10 meter operation capability. Those are allocated as Amateur radio bands, plural and not Citizen Band, singular. Technically, it is “illegal” to use an amplifier on 11 meters, or the CB, Citizens Band radio service. However, currently it is rarely enforced.

@@mattpace5982 some of y'all try to get on here and argue/have pissing contests with me about the strangest shit. Define "regular" power supply. Did I say irregular somewhere? Do I need to start showing the difference in current/amperage draw of a performance tuned radio vs one that has just been converted? Sure, get a longhorn, convert it and do nothing else. You can probably run on a 50 amp power supply for ssb and AM. But the clamp meter doesn't lie and ssb with the power HALF WAY open, it draws almost 70 amps. Sure, you can run a 75 amp supply, and nearly max it out, likely eventually wearing the supply out. Again, I don't understand the reasoning behind trying to spark an argument with me over what size power supply to run. My advice is so people don't tear their shit up. Doesn't matter to me if I never sell another power supply or longhorn for that matter. 😎

Hi Rooster, Nice video. I am glad you mentioned the Sirio 5000. I have a 2025 Silverado. I am considering a Sirio 5000 on a heavy duty no hole trunk lip mount on the edge of the hood by the windshield (drivers side opposite the AM FM antenna). I think since Antenna Specialist company went out of business the Sirio is the best base loaded coil antenna on the market. What do you think about that antenna set up?

I will go for an old Grant DX or Superstar GR. 40 channels below. 1-40 and 40 above. At least it will work and match up with one antenna so 120 channels for me.
