I saw Zac Brown Band with the Eagles in San Diego 2018 one of the best nights of my life it was worth every damn dollar! This song has and should continue to be one of the greats of all time with no one afraid to play it on their radio program. To all those woke a$$holes who are running around tearing down statues and changing school names well in the not too distant future you will end up like the Woke moron Jimmy Kimmel woked over yourself. When it does happen you will feel just like that idiot, sort of like you just got fu@ked up the a$$ with an elephant's dick. And you will have it coming!

Levon Helm would be proud. Obviously no one can match his voice but this was an amazing cover and by far one the best I've ever heard of The Bands.

Ok let's not over do it. They didn't slaughter the song but this is by NO means the best cover of the song. It's not that great at all . It's just all you Zak Brown fans boys want to make this out to be more than it is.

It takes some gumption to cover this song and sing what Levon sang... Apparently Zack and the boys can play pretty much anything and do it justice for sure... those harmonies...

Good cover. Nothin beats what Scorse captured. This song captures the darkest time in American history...yet today, “everyone” tries to ignore it...sad. So many brothers died. Our nation is riddled with the bones of basically children.

allot vergions of the night they drove ole Dixie down, don't forget she committed treason, I LOVE Dixie but the North had to preserve the country
@johncantrell99935 жыл бұрын
It wasn't treason, they had a constitutional right to secede as we do now

Did you ever wonder why none of the people involved with it were never even tried for treason, let alone convicted? Because it would reveal who the real villains of the war between the states were.

Levon Helm can only do this. no one else. If so it's just noise. For some reason it's more believable with Levon singing it.

Wonderful. Robbie Robertson and the Band, and these guys. Nuts! Song means a lot about our American history, and futility of sending our young men off to war.
@atlarge9886 жыл бұрын
Agreed it is a great cover and tribute to The Band. Also it does mean a lot to US history and so many people now misinterpret that. But the song is not about the "futility of sending our young men off to war". Rather, and let's specifically refer to the lyrics and how they are explained in wiki : "The song is a first-person narrative relating the economic and social distress experienced by the protagonist, a poor white Southerner, during the last year of the American Civil War, when George Stoneman was raiding southwest Virginia. Written by Robbie Robertson, the lyrics were prepared arising from research by Robertson and Levon Helm. That shows the quality and depth of The Band. A fantastic legacy of The Band and a great account of history through music.
